Chapter 17 Imperial Concubine Jin'an (Part 3)

Back then, she was just a lowly palace maid serving the Imperial Concubine, far from being able to stand beside her now; she was merely standing at the very back of the palace maid ranks.

But that great chaos still terrified her.

She still felt lingering fear when she thought about it, and whispered, "The Regent is truly terrifying." He was a handsome and noble member of the royal family, but he was like a demon, inspiring fear in everyone.

"He's so terrifying, yet I still repeatedly oppose him. I'm truly fearless." Shen Wangshu was shocked by the Imperial Concubine's unwavering devotion.

He wasn't even afraid of death and insisted on going against the regent, all for the sake of that Emperor Hui.

Such infatuation is heartbreaking. When she looks back and thinks of the tragic end of the Imperial Concubine who was abandoned, she feels only sorrow and pain.

This isn't the sadness you feel when reading a book, but rather the immersion in the tragedy of the imperial concubine.

Since that's the case, she can't let Emperor Hui and Consort He off the hook even more. Shen Wangshu's gaze fell on the teacup beside her, and the corners of her mouth pursed slightly.

Her eyes seemed to hold a hint of sadness, and Ah Xiang didn't dare to speak for a moment.

"From now on, stay away from him." Before Shen Wangshu decided to kill Emperor Hui and Consort He, she would stay away from the Regent.

What you must not do is let the Regent kill her before you've even dealt with those two vile women.

"Yes." Ah Xiang naturally didn't want the Imperial Concubine to be harmed by the Regent, and seeing that she suddenly understood and stopped banging her head against a rock, she happily agreed.

She was innocent and carefree. When Shen Wangshu saw her, she forgot many of her worries. Just thinking of Emperor Hui and Consort He, her former laziness and the lethargy she felt after losing her lover disappeared. She stretched out her snow-white finger and pointed to the jade Buddha statue opposite her, saying slowly, "Before putting it away, call all the palaces to come and take a look."

A slight smile played on her lips, but her gaze was as cold as ice. She murmured softly, "Who dares not to come? Just tell her one thing!" She scoffed, "They don't even listen to the Imperial Concubine? Do they not want to live in this harem anymore?!"

"Your Majesty?"

"Just say it's my word, then go," Shen Wangshu said nonchalantly, his eyes closed.

The Imperial Concubine was always domineering and powerful. If you angered her, and she was favored by the Emperor, it was no joke for her to say that she didn't want to live in the harem anymore. Therefore, the concubines from all the palaces who received her words, no matter how much they resented and cursed her in their hearts, all rushed to her palace.

Although Consort Gui was the most glamorous and prominent one in the harem, and lived in the most luxurious and magnificent palace, Emperor Hui had quite a few concubines in his harem. However, these concubines were all connected to their own families and powers, and most of them were not of one mind with Emperor Hui.

Many of the concubines, because their families were loyal to the regent, were even more respectful to him than Emperor Hui.

In the past, the Imperial Concubine disliked these concubines for not knowing who their proper masters were, and she often embarrassed them. But today, the arrogant and domineering Imperial Concubine, who claimed to be the most beautiful woman in the harem, simply held a banquet in the Imperial Garden to entertain the concubines in the palace.

Of course, she also took the opportunity to show off the Buddha statue that Emperor Hui gave her.

Because this was a very rare treasure, the concubines who saw it all looked very unhappy, but they had to force a smile and endure it out of fear of the Imperial Concubine.

Shen Wangshu's gaze, however, fell upon a delicate and beautiful woman who appeared somewhat frail and sorrowful, yet also seemed to be enduring grievances.

Unlike the stunning beauty of the imperial concubine, this woman was exceptionally elegant, her features seemingly shrouded in a misty haze. She sat there softly, as if even the sounds of laughter and conversation might disturb her. Her attire was simple and understated, completely different from the imperial concubine's flamboyant reds and purples; she was truly a lady who had stepped out of the misty rain of Jiangnan.

Shen Wangshu smiled as he glanced at her delicate features, and then suddenly laughed.

Seeing her smile with an ambiguous meaning, all the concubines trembled slightly, fearing that they might offend her.

Just as Shen Wangshu was about to speak to ease the atmosphere, at least to reassure the concubines that they were no longer so afraid of her, she saw Ah Xiang, pale-faced, hurrying over from not far away. Upon seeing her, she seemed to be on the verge of tears, and whispered tremblingly in her ear, "Your Majesty, something terrible has happened! The Regent, the Regent is coming this way!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Wangshu unconsciously looked in the direction she was pointing. Not far away, a tall and slender figure brushed past her banquet venue along a path. Before she could look away, she met a pair of cold and indifferent eyes.

Those eyes had only casually swept over her, as if the imperial concubine was not worth mentioning, but the gaze that had swept over her eyes paused abruptly before falling back into Shen Wangshu's eyes.

The figure suddenly stopped.
