Chapter 29 Imperial Concubine Jin'an (15)

Ever since her mistress was made empress, she could no longer listen to the imperial concubine.

It's probably because he was severely suppressed by the Imperial Concubine in the past.

"What else?" The Empress saw the worry on her face and her heart skipped a beat. She couldn't help but reach out and grab her wrist.

The maid stammered as she got up.

"Speak quickly!" the Empress snapped sharply.

"Consort Rong, Consort Rong has brought a maid to His Majesty." The maid knew that this matter could not be kept secret, so she hurriedly knelt down and dodged the Empress's slap. She said in a trembling voice, "That girl's eyebrows and eyes are just like, just like the Noble Consort." After she finished speaking, she did not receive a response from the Empress for a long time. She hurriedly looked up and saw that the Empress was dumbfounded and had a look of despair on her face.

"Your Majesty!" The maid was terrified when she saw the Empress suddenly burst into tears and rushed to support her.

But what could she say?

"Like the Imperial Concubine?" The Empress's voice choked, and there was no joy in her heart. She wanted to tell herself that even if the Imperial Concubine were reborn, Emperor Hui probably wouldn't even look at her twice. But what was the reason for her sadness?

She tried to smile, but only tears streamed down her face. Through her blurry vision, she saw Emperor Hui excitedly leading a woman with her head bowed into the room. How happy he was! It seemed that she had rarely seen him so genuinely happy and joyful since she was made empress. But none of this was for her; it was for another woman.

The empress's heart sank when the woman looked up.

Indeed, they look very alike; every move they make bears the shadow of the Imperial Concubine. It's likely that Consort Rong has been harboring this suspicion for a long time.

"Look at her, doesn't she look just like the Imperial Concubine?" Emperor Hui said to the Empress.

"I would like to give her a side hall in the Phoenix Palace to live in, and I will bestow upon her the title of Noble Consort." Emperor Hui gently turned his head and looked at the quiet woman with her head down with pity. "Look at her, she seems afraid. How pitiful."

"How can a girl of unknown origin surpass all the concubines?" The Imperial Concubine and the Empress are only one step apart, yet this imposter is almost on par with her.

The Empress felt a sharp pain in her heart. Under Emperor Hui's astonished gaze, she refused to speak, saying, "What is her status! Just a maidservant with no background who was taken from the Emperor's bedchamber. If she were to call me 'Your Majesty,' she..." She had only said this much when Emperor Hui suddenly stood up, looking at her with disappointment and disgust. After a long while, he finally said, "I never imagined that you would become such a mediocre person!"

He wouldn't even look at her again, and sneered, "Look at your face, how could you..." He pulled the woman out, refusing to look at her again.

Her refusal was useless; Emperor Hui personally issued an imperial edict, bestowing upon the woman the title of Imperial Concubine.

The Empress's palace became a cold palace, while the Phoenix Palace regained its former glory.

The concubines in the harem all flattered that Consort Gui; there was no one left in front of her, not even Emperor Hui looked at her anymore.

Walking through the empty palace, she finally understood what it meant to be out of favor and disliked.

But what about Emperor Hui?

He happily and joyfully chose an auspicious day to consummate his marriage with the woman. Just as he was entwined with her soft body and felt his heart come alive again, feeling his love become vibrant, he suddenly felt a chill in his heart.

A cold, sharp blade pierced his back and emerged from his chest.

The woman beneath him, her eyes clear, slowly pulled out a knife, touched her face, and suddenly laughed as she slashed her face repeatedly.

"Your Majesty, as I had someone operate on my face, slowly transforming it into the face of the Noble Consort, with each cut I silently murmured 'Your Majesty'." This woman, her flesh grotesque and her face streaked with blood and tears, bowed down before Emperor Hui, covering his mouth to prevent him from crying out for help. Her eyes grew crazed as she softly said, "Your Majesty, my face aches, but my heart aches even more, all for Your Majesty!"

"My younger sister is named A Xiang."

She smiled menacingly, slashing Emperor Hui's throat with a knife, but only making a small cut. She watched as Emperor Hui, half-dead, painfully breathed his last.
