Chapter 42 Emerald Eyes (Thirteen)

He didn't want Shen Shuya, who was devoted to him, so he just wanted to have a good time with Gao Wanning.

"Feeling good now?" Xue Xuan asked in a low voice.

"That felt good." Shen Wangshu looked up and smiled quietly.

Her eyes and brows became even more radiant, and the faint, enigmatic gloom seemed to have faded, softening Xue Xuan's heart.

"That little beast's good days are yet to come!" Father Shen snorted, listening to Gao Wanning's shrill cries in the distance, and said pettily, "Daring to open a jewelry company in S City is courting death. He probably doesn't want his family fortune anymore!"

His words were not unfounded. Not only does the Shen family dominate the jewelry market in S City, but Shen's father's connections far surpass those of Ouyang Yu. Although Ouyang Yu's jewelry company has opened, he faces considerable competition and pressure. He's not cut out for business, and Ouyang Jewelry doesn't allow him to use the Ouyang family name to attract customers.

At first, Ouyang Yu made some money, but when it came to restocking, he found himself helpless.

The entire S City gemstone market relies on Shen Fu; Ouyang Yu can forget about it. Even the largest segment, jadeite, has run into problems.

Because Gao Wanning had actually deceived him and even argued so convincingly, Ouyang Yu simply didn't recognize this woman he had once loved. Every day when he came home to Gao Wanning, he could never feel the joy he used to have. Every time he thought about her, he would recall how she had pretended to be pregnant just to marry him.

Because of this, he became even more reluctant to speak to Gao Wanning. Therefore, when rough jade merchants came to his door, he no longer tried to invite Gao Wanning to gamble on stones with him, but went alone. That batch of rough jade looked excellent, almost all of them were semi-transparent stones with windows cut into them, but the price was quite high.

Ouyang Yu spent over 100 million yuan to acquire all the raw jade stones.

Just when he breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had finally escaped the predicament of having no raw materials and no longer had to be at the mercy of those jewelry companies, he discovered that his raw materials had been transferred to someone else.

He had personally witnessed the raw materials being loaded onto the truck, but upon returning to the company warehouse and unloading them, he was horrified to discover that they had been switched and turned into a pile of building materials.

This sum of over 100 million yuan was all the funds Ouyang Tang had given to Ouyang Yu after buying some shares. Ouyang Yu wasn't exactly rolling in money with Ouyang Jewelry, and losing so much plunged him into a predicament. Although he reported the case to the police, the several dubious raw material merchants had long since disappeared, and even their identities were unknown. He only received a truckload of fake raw materials and was at a loss.

What made Ouyang Yu even more uneasy was that he had borrowed money from an underground bank for this batch of hard-won raw materials, and now he couldn't repay it. And then there were the wages of the jewelry company's employees… When Ouyang Yu came to his senses, he had no choice but to pawn the only jewelry in the company to pay these employees' wages. And so, the jewelry company, which he had so ambitiously built, closed down.

However, these were minor issues. What terrified him most was the money from the underground bank. The interest on that money kept compounding, and even selling his villa and company would only cover the interest. The immense pressure overwhelmed Ouyang Yu.

He tried to borrow money everywhere but to no avail, and even lent money to Shen Wangshu.

He knew Shen Wangshu wouldn't want to see him, so he didn't announce his arrival. He hid in a corner and barged in front of her at the company entrance when Shen Wangshu was smiling and going to work with Xue Xuan.

He was immediately pinned to the ground by Xue Xuan's men, but he struggled. Shen Wangshu looked down at him, seeing this once spirited and carefree young nobleman now haggard, his forehead and the corners of his eyes lined with fine wrinkles, even his once jet-black hair now streaked with gray. She could hardly believe this was the handsome second young master of the Ouyang family.

"Shuya, Shuya..." Ouyang Yu struggled to look at Shen Wangshu, who was so close yet seemed as beautiful and dazzling as a morning star, and tears streamed down her face.

He never imagined that Shen Shuya, whom he had thought was not very vibrant, was actually such a radiant, lively, and beautiful girl. She stood there so elegantly that everyone else became her foil.

"Only you can help me." He remembered her past love for him and pleaded in a low voice as if grasping at the last straw.

Even his cousin, Ouyang Tang, refused to lend him money. Old Master Ouyang was still recovering from his illness, and there were burly bodyguards guarding the entrance to his hospital room, so he couldn't even see the old man. But he still had one last hope in his heart: Shen Shuya.

Only now did he realize her silent kindness, support, and unwavering devotion to him. He looked at her with almost fervent tears, for she was his last hope.

"Help you?" Shen Wangshu looked at the young man who had lost almost everything overnight, and a strange smile appeared on her lips. She paused, let go of Xue Xuan's hand, walked in front of him, squatted down and carefully looked at his disheveled appearance, but she also felt a kind of pleasure and joy that she could not shake off, so she gently curled her red lips and said softly, "You look really ugly like this."

This is what Ouyang Yu said to Shen Shuya when she cried and rushed to him, begging him to help Shen's Jewelry and not to abandon her.

At that time, shouldn't he have looked down on his fiancée, who had fallen from the clouds, from his high position?

How devastated was Shen Shuya when she heard him say, "You look really ugly"?

It must be the same as it is now, right?

"Seeing you like this makes me truly happy." Ouyang Yu stared blankly at herself, seemingly unable to believe she was saying such a thing. Shen Wangshu, however, felt a heavy weight slowly disappearing from her heart. She chuckled and said, "You deserve to be doomed, you deserve to have fallen to this state! You beast, now you think of Shen Shuya. If you were riding high, Shen Shuya would only throw you into a corner!" She stood up and kicked the young man who had once been Shen Shuya's most beloved, the one she had loved to the point of losing her life, and said casually, "You'll be burdened with your enormous debt, and you'll never be able to turn your life around."
