She paused, vaguely hearing men and women outside, seemingly with a clear division of labor.
Just as everyone remained silent, the gate of the Ning family villa was banged on.
A huge water ball began to spin in Shen Wangshu's hand.
She also patted Ah Xuan's head.
If anyone dares to break down the door, they shouldn't blame her for opening it and letting Ah Xuan out.
Ning's father didn't dare to open the door, so he stood beside Shen Wangshu, holding his breath and pretending to be dead. However, there was no movement in the courtyard, and then a man's loud voice came from outside, shouting, "Hey boss, are all the Ning family members dead already? It's been so long, if they were alive they would have opened the door for us by now." He seemed to complain, "We came all this way just to save people? It's not worth it for these few!" The man shouted, seemingly with great strength, and seemed to be making some kind of movement outside the door.
"Shut up." A clear, melodious female voice came from outside the door.
The voice was calm and cold. After a moment of silence, it said in a low voice, "I want to see him alive or dead." Her voice became hoarse.
Shen Wangshu frowned in confusion, feeling that the voice sounded somewhat familiar.
She turned her head and saw that Ning's father also seemed to be thinking about something.
Just then, she saw a bright red light emanate from the doorway, and then a woman suddenly leaped up and jumped onto the door. She crouched on the door, her face tense, and scanned her surroundings. When she saw the Ning family father and daughter staring blankly at her from the base of the wall, she was immediately stunned.
She was dashing and spirited, dressed in a smart outfit, carrying a huge axe in her hand and a gun on her back. Seeing Shen Wangshu's stunned expression, her cold face softened, and she squatted on the wall, beckoning towards the door.
Shen Wangshu and Ning's father looked up at the woman with foolish disdain.
Is it impossible for normal people to survive in this world? How come one or two of them, whether zombies or humans, can jump onto the wall?
This doesn't make sense!
However, Shen Wangshu recognized this woman who had an extremely beautiful face and looked very capable and efficient.
This was one of Ning Rou's best friends, who, like Song Xi, had received financial support from the Ning family. She remembered that in Song Xi's previous life, before her rebirth, this woman named Nan Lan had always been by Ning Rou's side, protecting her. After Song Xi's rebirth, probably because Ning Rou had died early in the business world, Nan Lan and Song Xi didn't end up together. She later became one of the most famous superpowered individuals.
She and Song Xi had never gotten along, and even though Song Xi later became very powerful, Nan Lan never paid any attention to this former friend.
Upon seeing Nan Lan appear, Shen Wangshu couldn't help but cover her lips.
She actually risked her own safety to come to the Ning family to find them, despite the slim hope she had.
In her previous life, Nan Lan must have experienced all of this, only to be disappointed to find that Ning Rou's fate was unknown, and that Ning's father and mother had been eaten by zombies.
"Nan Lan," Shen Wangshu called out.
The woman who stood tall and imposing on the gate softened her gaze upon seeing Shen Wangshu. She nodded, leaped down from the gate, and strode towards Shen Wangshu.
She casually tossed the enormous axe to the ground and opened her powerful arms to embrace Shen Wangshu. Although she appeared cold and calm, a faint smile appeared on her face, seemingly because she saw that Shen Wangshu's family was unharmed. However, her sudden appearance, as if to hug Shen Wangshu, immediately angered Ah Xuan.
He grabbed Shen Wangshu with one hand, jumped out, and roared loudly at Nan Lan.
"Zombies!" Nan Lan's eyes narrowed, and a burst of intense heat rose from her hand.
"Wait a minute." Shen Wangshu hurriedly pulled Ah Xuan in front of her and said quickly, "This is a misunderstanding."
She turned and patted the wary Ah Xuan's head. Seeing him staring at Nan Lan with hungry eyes, as if he wanted to devour her, she said gently, "This is my best friend, please don't hurt her, okay?" Some people, like Song Xi, can be heartless and ungrateful to those who treat them kindly. Others, like Nan Lan, can risk danger and their own lives to find those they've helped once. Shen Wangshu turned and smiled at Nan Lan.
“This is my husband, Ah Xuan,” she said softly.
Nan Lan was surprised for a moment, then frowned, the flame in her hand flickering as she said, "He's a zombie."
“He is my husband,” Shen Wangshu said quietly.
Her expression was extremely calm, and the genuine emotion in her gaze as she looked at Ah Xuan was undeniable, causing Nan Lan to hesitate.
“He has never eaten or hurt anyone,” Shen Wangshu said softly. “He has been protecting us all this time.”
She knew Ah Xuan was trying hard to remain composed, but the scent of living people made him restless, and his eyes were filled with a wild, primal light. Fearing that Ah Xuan might actually hurt someone, Shen Wangshu pointed to the villa. Seeing him reluctantly move, she whispered to him, "I won't leave you. Go back and wait for me." She knew Nan Lan had probably come to take them away, and glanced back at Ning's father.
The zombie hissed softly, but obediently walked into the villa.
He turned around and looked at Nan Lan with a violent gaze.
“He saved you, and I’m grateful to him, but he’s too dangerous.” Nan Lan seemed to take the zombie’s ability to suppress her for granted, and said expressionlessly, “You never know when he might stop recognizing you.”
As she spoke, she placed her hands on Shen Wangshu's shoulders to check her carefully. Seeing that Shen Wangshu was alright and that Ning's father looked quite energetic, she breathed a sigh of relief and calmly said, "Pack up, let's go quickly." She saw Ning's mother also walking over from the villa, and a genuine smile appeared on her face.
