Chapter 66 Unwavering Love (Part 10)

As parents, their biggest worry is their children's marriage. Ning's parents treated Nan Lan like their daughter, sighing and shaking their heads.

"Once this opportunity is gone, it's gone forever." Ning's father felt sorry for Song Lei.

"There are plenty of fish in the sea," Ah Guang said with a quick smile.

Nan Lan ruffled his hair again with admiration.

The boy tilted his head back and obediently asked to touch it a little longer.

This time, it was Shen Wangshu's turn to have eye pain.

She rubbed her chest, which was still quite nauseous, and smiled at the base team member beside her who showed no impatience whatsoever, asking him to lead her family to their accommodation. Apparently, Song Lei had someone carefully search for a house beforehand, because the guide led Shen Wangshu's family to a truly secluded, but clean and quiet, secluded courtyard.

The courtyard wasn't large, with two rows of bungalows. The small courtyard in the middle couldn't compare to the courtyard of the Ning family villa, but it had a very tall tree standing in the middle.

The lush green shadows and dappled sunlight cast a gentle warmth over this quiet little courtyard.

Shen Wangshu knew this was a special arrangement. He thanked the guide, pretended to fumble around in his backpack for a while, and then handed him a pack of cigarettes.

Cigarettes are indeed a rare commodity in the apocalypse. The man's eyes lit up immediately, and his expression became even more enthusiastic. He then proceeded to tell everyone about the base's situation, as well as some taboos and rules.

He seemed to value Shen Wangshu's generosity, running around doing errands and promising that even if the base became too large in the future, no more people would be allowed to move in.

Shen Wangshu smiled as she saw him off, then looked back at the courtyard.

The courtyard wasn't large, but it was more than enough for their family. Seeing that the courtyard was clean, Ning's parents quickly tidied it up and carried their luggage into the house. The elderly couple lived in the central house, while Shen Wangshu and Nan Lan each occupied a room on either side, remaining vigilant. A-Tu was already using his earth-based abilities to reinforce the courtyard walls and create small traps at the corners. As for Ning's father, while Ning's mother was busy cooking, he felt as if he had regained the leisurely life he had before the apocalypse.

With nothing to do, he wandered around the yard, feeling that the yard was quite large and it was a waste to leave it unused.

He pulled Ah Tu over and turned over the soil on both sides of the courtyard passageway, making it loose and soft. He also unloaded the sweet potatoes from the car.

Although he had never farmed before, he vaguely knew how sweet potatoes were planted. He cut the sweet potatoes into countless square pieces and carefully buried them one by one in the ground. Shen Wangshu felt something was off, but he didn't think Ning's father had done anything wrong, so he nodded. Ah Xuan watched from the side. He curiously observed Ning's father for a while, and seeing how he buried the sweet potatoes, he roared at Shen Wangshu. He rushed into the pile of sweet potatoes, picked one out, and held it out in front of Shen Wangshu with his large hand.

He pointed to a spot on the sweet potato that looked like a bud.

"Ah Xuan can farm?" Shen Wangshu knew that Ah Xuan seemed to have recalled some memories from before, but she did not expect that he had experience in growing sweet potatoes.

Do special forces soldiers also need to know how to farm? They're really all-rounders.

Ah Xuan grunted twice, sat down rudely on the ground, dug a small hole in the ground, stuffed the sweet potato in, leaving the sprouts sticking out, and buried the rest, then neatly sprinkled soil on it.

Shen Wangshu sat down beside him with a smile, learning how to plant sweet potatoes.

Ah Xuan was pleased and happily rubbed against her.

"You're not even as good as Ah Xuan." Ning's mother came out and looked at Ning's dumbfounded father with disdain. When she saw Ah Tu climb over the ground to build a wall and then take the rice spoon from her hand to cook, she suddenly felt that Ah Tu was very virtuous.

The children are all still young and have no relatives around. Back then, Ning's mother forced someone to secretly ask Nan Lan where A Guang and A Tu's families were, thinking that Shen Wangshu had plenty of space resources and could support even two more families. However, Nan Lan just shook her head, which made Ning's mother understand and feel even more sorry for A Guang and A Tu.

Their relatives are probably all gone.

However, Shen Wangshu knew more. A-Tu was originally an orphan. He met Nan Lan, who was struggling in society, and became her confidant. As for A-Guang...

It's better not to mention it.

The story of a rich young master being abandoned by his father, who ran away with his mistress and her son, leaving him with his mother who had turned into a zombie, is heartbreaking.

"I learned it in one look!" Father Ning said, still bickering with Mother Ning. "I'm so good at managing a household! I even know how to grow sweet potatoes!"

What a vast place! In the past, Ning's father only knew how to grow flowers and such, but in this world, nothing is as reliable as growing grain. Although Shen Wangshu has a spatial ability, Ning's father wouldn't place all his hopes on it. He busied himself learning from Ah Xuan, cutting open some sweet potatoes with sprouts and stuffing them into the small holes. Seeing Ah Guang obediently offering to help, he smiled and said, "Ah Guang is such a sensible and good child."

Both obedient and capable, Ning's father adored this boy.

The handsome young man blushed, feigning embarrassment, and smiled shyly.

Shen Wangshu chuckled, watched as everyone finished watering the ground, and then used his water-based superpower to start watering.

She suddenly realized that her family's special abilities were actually quite suitable for farming.

As soon as the family finished their work, Atu poked his head out and called everyone in loudly to come in for dinner. The remaining two families of survivors came to visit. They were assigned to the base's unified housing, where they were settled and managed by the military. Although they were somewhat restricted, being under the military's watchful eye meant they were at least safe as ordinary people and wouldn't be harmed by bad people who were also human.
