Fortunately, the Nascent Soul cultivator had thick skin and flesh, and the fox didn't bite off a piece of his flesh.
Even so, Xi Wu Daojun's hands were still bleeding profusely, covered in blood from the fox bite.
He had been watching the fox, which wouldn't let go of him, with interest, but when he saw that his hand had been bitten, he let out a low, puzzled sound.
The handsome and gentle young man reached out and took the fox's chubby little paw in his hand. When the fox impatiently kicked it away, he was not angry, nor did he care about the bleeding back of his hand. He just shook the fox that was still hanging in front of his eyes and asked the indifferent Shen Wangshu in confusion, "How can this little fox break through my magic body?"
He was a late-stage Nascent Soul cultivator, his Nascent Soul in his dantian was incredibly stable, and his flesh and blood had been tempered and refined through countless trials by spiritual energy. To say he could withstand a flying sword or magic weapon was pure fantasy; a mere fox cub couldn't even bite through his skin. Even a demon fox couldn't do that.
But his hand was bleeding, which immediately puzzled Daoist Xiwu.
This fox is clearly strange.
The fox, its fur bristling and its eyes fierce, stiffened at the sound of the small creature's breath, and its tail slowly drooped down to the ground.
It secretly glanced at Shen Wangshu's expression but couldn't discern anything. Unsure whether to let go, it was caught in a dilemma.
“The fox I raise is naturally extraordinary.” Shen Wangshu calmly picked up the fox.
Xiao Xuan quickly let go of his mouth, being incredibly obedient.
But when Xi Wu Daojun looked at his bleeding hand and then at Shen Wangshu, he hesitated for a moment and whispered, "Isn't something strange?"
He saw Shen Wangshu reach out her snow-white hand and hook the fox's chin. The fluffy little ball of fur instinctively squinted, raised its head, and opened its mouth. If Shen Wangshu hadn't held it down, it seemed it would have rolled over onto its belly. The fox's lips twitched slightly. Shen Wangshu ignored him, only lowering her head to pry open the fox's mouth, examining its small, sharp teeth, and said calmly, "Its talent is unparalleled; of course, it's different from the foxes outside."
"Then what are you doing?" Daoist Xiwu asked without shame.
“You’re thick-skinned, let me see if you’ve chipped any of my little Xuan’s teeth,” Shen Wangshu said calmly.
This was clearly favoritism. Xiao Xuan heard this, tilted his head, and glanced triumphantly at Xi Wu Daojun, whose face had turned pale. He then raised his fluffy tail high.
"Squeak!" Those foolish mortals are definitely beneath Shushu's notice! Get out of here!
The fox even stretched out its little paws and lifted its small body, single-mindedly trying to push away Xiwu Daojun.
"I'm the one who's injured, okay?" Xi Wu Daojun smiled bitterly as he looked at his hand. Seeing that Shen Wangshu was unmoved and didn't care about her indifference, he got up and walked to the ice bed behind her. He picked out a few different bottles of elixirs and put them into his pocket. Then he turned around and sat opposite her, and white light emanated from his hand as he healed his wound.
He then looked at the fox that was glaring at him, even more stingy than his fellow disciple, who was acting as if taking two spirit pills was the death of her. Seeing the fox's belly heaving with anger, he frowned and muttered, "This fox looks strange."
Even the most clever fox spirit wouldn't be this clever, would it?
"Xiao Xuan knows what's good for her," Shen Wangshu said softly, stroking the fox's little head.
A slight smile played on her lips as she looked gently at the fox who had turned to her, squeaking and demanding that the little thief be caught.
This fox is indeed a bit strange, but so what?
Demons are inherently wary and hostile towards human cultivators. They will never reveal their weaknesses to anyone they don't truly trust or care about.
The fox, however, calmly exposed her softest, most delicate belly and lower abdomen, letting her do whatever she wanted.
Since it genuinely relied on her, Shen Wangshu wouldn't care about the slightest oddity.
Xi Wu Daojun finally realized that he was far less important to his junior sister than the fox. But looking at the fox, who had become so shiny, soft, and affectionate in such a short time, he found her quite lovable.
With its fluffy tail, chubby little legs, and a warm, cuddly belly when it rolled over, the fox let out a soft, contented hum as Shen Wangshu placed his snow-white hand on its fur. Even Xi Wu Daojun felt a tickle in his heart. However, this fox was not allowed to be touched by anyone else, and Xi Wu Daojun's anticipation only grew stronger after thinking about it.
He decided to go find a fox too.
Of course, it can't be white-haired, it's not pretty at all. It has to be a fire fox, fiery and radiant, that would be beautiful and worthy of Daojun's peerless demeanor, wouldn't it?
Having already made up his mind, he felt a sense of anticipation for his future spirit beast and couldn't help but ask Shen Wangshu curiously, "Where did you pick up this fox?"
Shen Wangshu pointed to the doorway outside his room.
The fox, while squinting and enjoying Shen Wangshu tickling its belly, turned its head and made a disdainful "pfft pfft" sound.
It tucked all four of its little paws into its belly, enjoying itself quietly.
Xi Wu Daojun was already eager to try, and too lazy to watch Shen Wangshu interact with the fox. He hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Does Junior Sister still have any of those kinds of elixirs that she made for the fox?"
Those were special elixirs used by demonic beasts for cultivation, not for the fox that Shen Wangshu favored; they were extremely rare. Xi Wu Daojun, thinking of his future spirit beast, shamelessly said, "Just give me some of what Xiao Xuan can't finish." He saw the fox turn its head warily at him, smiled at it, and sure enough, the fox flew into a rage.
It grabbed Shen Wangshu's hand with both paws and shook its little head vigorously.
