He smiled at Yiyi, but then, thinking of Ling'er, with whom he had pledged his life, he pursed his lips.
Ling'er is straightforward, and Yiyi is innocent; in his heart, they are both very important.
But when he thought of Ling'er, who had been injured by Xi Wu Dao Jun's spirit fox while asking for the elixir for him, and the deep, bone-revealing bloodstains on her cheek, his heart ached even more. He turned his head away, not daring to look at Yi Yi's beautiful face any longer, and said softly, "I shouldn't have come in with you."
He was merely a low-ranking disciple; he had no place in this grand hall. However, remembering the Demon Sect Master's high regard for him, a sense of pride welled up within him. He was indeed an outstanding young man, with a noble spirit, maintaining his composure even before high-ranking cultivators.
"You wicked disciple," Fairy Red Moon muttered through gritted teeth.
Yue Xizhi dared to associate himself with Lingxiao Daozun, which immediately angered Fairy Hongyue.
She drove Yue Xizhi out of her dojo, making him run around in the sect, intending to teach him a lesson. Who knew that in such a short time, the boy would rise again!
It still caught the eye of the Demon Sect Master.
If the Demon Sect Master takes a liking to him and asks him to become his disciple, should she accept or refuse?
The thought of this choice—either humiliation or death—made Fairy Red Moon furious.
She really wanted to be as tough as Lingxiao, but she didn't have the real strength. She was probably just someone the Demon Sect Master could easily manipulate.
Therefore, she grew even more disgusted with Yue Xizhi, this scourge.
Yue Xizhi sensed his master's anger, but found it quite amusing. This master wasn't very capable, but she was narrow-minded. She had treated him poorly before, and then became hostile and oppressive towards him. All of her actions had made his gratitude for her past devotion vanish.
He knew in his heart that if he stayed in Guangming Sect, he would probably never be able to turn things around. He subconsciously glanced at Yiyi, who was smiling sweetly and lovelyly at him, and a different kind of ambition arose in his heart. He suddenly turned his head to look at Shen Wangshu, took a deep breath, and his knees buckled as he was about to kneel down.
A beam of light struck, pinning him to the spot.
The Guangming Sect leader calmly withdrew his hand, loudly ordered his men to drag Yue Xizhi away, and then smiled at the Demon Sect Master, saying, "This disciple has been unruly and has offended the Sect Master."
If Yue Xizhi really clamored to break away from the sect and join the demonic path, then the Guangming Sect's ten-thousand-year glory would be completely ruined. The Guangming Sect leader hated Yue Xizhi, this beast who dared to harbor thoughts of betraying the sect, and almost wanted to tear him to pieces. However, his face remained impeccable, and he said with a smile, "The sect leader's daughter seems to quite like the disciples of my Guangming Sect. If you like them, why not join the Guangming Sect? It will surely become a great story in the future."
The Demonic Sect Master's interested gaze remained fixed until Yue Xizhi's figure disappeared from sight.
He smiled, glanced at Yiyi whose face was slightly pale, and chuckled, "With me here, there's no need for the sect leader to worry."
His expression was somewhat weary and displeased, yet a hint of excitement lingered in his eyes. After a brief pause, he smiled and said, "It's just that your sect is far too lazy with that disciple. Such talent should be nurtured with all your might, pooling the strength of the entire sect. Perhaps a thousand years later, he could become a Nascent Soul cultivator, ensuring your sect's peace for ten thousand years. Why waste such a gift?" He sighed softly, resting his hard, cold beast claws on his hand, and said regretfully, "If the Demonic Path had such a fine disciple, they would surely treasure him like a precious gem and cultivate him into the best cultivator."
Every word he uttered was for the benefit of Emperor Guangming, but it seemed rather strange.
Unsolicited kindness is always suspicious, and Shen Wangshu felt that the Demon Sect Master was paying extra attention to Yue Xizhi.
She had no idea what the Demon Sect Master was planning, and she silently stroked the fox's little paws, lost in thought.
As the fox's little paws were being stroked, it completely forgot about being the leader of the Demonic Sect and tried to sneakily stuff both of its front paws into Shen Wangshu's hands.
It curled up in Shen Wangshu's arms, its bottom sticking out, creating a little nest, and happily shrunk into a ball.
The fox felt the woman's slightly cool body temperature and happily squinted its eyes.
It now realizes that the Demon Sect Master is nothing special; it'll wait until no one's around before going to eat him...
Kill him to prevent future troubles.
"I am very tired today. Does your sect have a place to rest?" The Demon Sect Master had been uneasy ever since Yue Xizhi appeared.
His smile was too amiable, which made the sect leader of Guangming Sect wary. However, he still nodded slightly and ordered a high-level cultivator to lead the group of demonic sect members to a separate floating immortal mountain within the sect.
After the demonic cultivators had all departed, the spiritual light in his hand blazed brightly. In an instant, the entire hall seemed to respond to him, emitting an even more dazzling glow, and several plumes of black smoke were instantly ignited throughout the hall. The black smoke let out a miserable cry and vanished into nothingness, and only then did a hint of relief appear on the face of the Guangming Sect Master.
He raised his hand to protect the entire hall before frowning at the Guangming Sect high-level cultivators who were still standing there and said, "This Demon Sect Master probably has ill intentions!"
"The enmity between Lingxiao and the Demon Sect Master is so deep back then, it's not unreasonable for him to hold a grudge." Fairy Red Moon had been humiliated repeatedly today and was already seething with anger.
Her criticism was directed at Shen Wangshu, almost questioning him, "Why did you cut off his arm back then?!"
Shen Wangshu ignored him and only said calmly to the leader of Guangming Sect, "Yue Xizhi is strange." The Demon Sect leader was being a little too eager for Yue Xizhi.
"Keep an eye on him," the Guangming Sect leader said decisively.
"Senior brother, why..."
"If a Nascent Soul cultivator really wanted to take someone away, we wouldn't be able to stop him. Besides, that kid wanted to climb the wall himself, who could stop him?" Shen Wangshu sneered and said with some disdain.
