Chapter 102: Cannon Fodder in the Old Sadistic Story 53

But the image of Xie Shizhu in front of him became increasingly blurry. Jiang Yuhuai held up his eyelids, his head feeling dizzy, and he closed his eyes somewhat helplessly.

When he closed his eyelids completely, he could vaguely see the ring on the woman's finger, which was reflected by the sunlight and cast a dazzling light.

Xie Shizhu's nervous voice reached his ears: "Jiang Yuhuai, what's wrong with you? Are you okay?"

He wanted to answer, but his consciousness became hazy and he gradually fell into endless darkness.

*

Chi Ze opened the car window, put his arm on one side, held a cigarette between his fingertips, and inhaled the pungent nicotine into his lungs.

He leaned decadently on the leather seat, breathing the air slowly.

Suddenly, the sound of an ambulance siren was heard from the roadside. Chi Ze threw away the half-smoked cigarette and looked at the ambulance parked behind his car.

Immediately afterwards, several medical staff came out of the ambulance and hurried towards the entrance he had just come out of.

Chi Ze was stunned. Apart from Xie Shizhu and Jiang Yuhuai, there were only a few waiters left in the store.

A few minutes later, he saw that the person on the stretcher was Jiang Yuhuai, and Xie Shizhu followed behind him with a pale face. Then he passed in front of his car and got into the ambulance.

The sound of the horn disturbed Chi Ze's thoughts. He frowned, turned the steering wheel and followed the ambulance.

In the car.

Xie Shizhu asked the system: "What's going on?"

The system was also confused: [I don't know. The plot in the book actually ended when Zhou Yuan returned to the countryside. As for the subsequent developments, I have no idea.]

Xie Shizhu sneered and cursed, "Trash."

The system felt extremely aggrieved. It was just a system. The space it lived in was the smallest and lowest one in the alien space. Being able to complete the mission with Xie Shizhu was already an unprecedented thing.

When Jiang Yuhuai woke up, it was already dark and a bleak wind was blowing outside.

He moved his fingers slightly, and the woman sitting on his bed woke up instantly.

"You're awake," Xie Shizhu opened his eyes, with a hint of blue in his eyes. He stood up and hurriedly tucked the corner of the quilt for him.

Jiang Yuhuai wanted to prop himself up, but his abdomen was particularly painful. He frowned and wanted to sit up, but was stopped by Xie Shizhu.

"You're sick," Xie Shizhu said with a twitch of his lips. "The doctor told you to get some rest."

Jiang Yuhuai didn't care. After all, he had been injured countless times before, and there had been times when it was more painful than this. "How long have I been sleeping?"

Xie Shizhu picked up an apple from the table and carefully peeled it. "Two days."

It turned out that he had been in a coma for two days and two nights.

Jiang Yuhuai was startled, a bad premonition flashing through his mind. He asked, "Did the doctor tell me what disease I have?"

When Xie Shizhu heard him say this, the sharp tip of the knife accidentally cut her finger. She said in a relaxed tone: "It's nothing, it's just shock caused by irregular work and rest. It will be fine after a period of hospitalization."

"Well," Jiang Yuhuai looked nonchalantly at the withered flowers on the table, "I see. You must not have had a good sleep these past few days. Go back and rest for a few days."

Xie Shizhu hid his injured hand behind his back and with his other hand handed the peeled apple to Jiang Yuhuai, saying with a smile, "It's okay, I'm not sleepy. Here, this is the first time I've peeled an apple so cleanly. Come and eat it."

"Okay," Jiang Yuhuai took the apple, his fingertips accidentally touching the back of her hand. He caught a glimpse of her hand behind her back from the corner of his eye. Ignoring the pain in his upper abdomen, he sat up and pulled her arm hidden behind her back to his face.

Seeing her fingers still bleeding, Jiang Yuhuai felt distressed. He opened the drawer beside the bed and saw a Band-Aid inside. He took it out, tore it open, and carefully wrapped it around Xie Shizhu's fingertips.

Xie Shizhu looked down at the Band-Aid on his fingertips. Every corner covered the next layer, neatly and meticulously.

A strange look flashed across her eyes. She raised her head and looked at Jiang Yuhuai, smiling: "You are so nice."

Jiang Yuhuai gently stroked her hair. "Just bandage your wound? You're really easy to satisfy."

"Humph, I just know how to be content."

Jiang Yuhuai's deep voice was particularly pleasant, as if whispering in her ear, "Don't be so stupid again."

"I'm not stupid at all. I'm smart."

As soon as he finished speaking, a nurse came in and said softly, "Miss Xie, we need to examine Mr. Jiang. Please step aside for a moment."

Xie Shizhu nodded, stood up, and pointed to the apple that Jiang Yuhuai had put aside before leaving. "Remember to eat it."

Jiang Yuhuai smiled and said, "Okay."

As soon as she left, the smile on Jiang Yuhuai's face disappeared completely, and was quickly replaced by a feeling of powerlessness and dejection.

*

As Xie Shizhu walked out of the ward, a man grabbed her arm and looked down at the woman's haggard and plain face.

Chi Ze's complexion was no better than Xie Shizhu's. He hadn't slept for two days, and there were some stubble on his chin, which was a far cry from his previous spotless appearance.

Xie Shizhu looked back at the half-closed door and said in a low voice, "If you have anything to say, let's talk somewhere else."

Chi Ze was silent for a long time and nodded slightly.

Xie Shizhu turned around and walked towards the elevator without hesitation.

Chi Ze looked at the woman's thin figure, his eyes filled with heartache, and followed her closely.

Five minutes later, the two stopped by a tree downstairs of the inpatient department.

Chi Ze leaned against the tree, took out a cigarette case and lit a cigarette. The swirling smoke blurred the woman in front of him.

He pondered for a moment, trying to soften his voice, and said hoarsely, "No one would have thought that Jiang Yuhuai would inherit stomach cancer. You... accept my condolences..."
