After saying this, the two of them left the laboratory, closed the door, and disappeared from Xie Shizhu's sight.
Xie Shizhu looked bewildered as she looked at Jiang Yubai, who was standing by the window. She said, "You just..."
Jiang Yubai was silent for a long time, then he opened his thin lips and said, "Don't stay in school on Tuesdays from now on."
After saying this, Jiang Yubai glanced at her, walked towards the stairs, and his thin back slowly went downstairs.
But Xie Shizhu did not listen to him. She would not be able to eat enough without participating in the experiment, so she still came to queue up on Tuesday.
Jiang Yubai saw her behind him, his face heavy, he grabbed her arm and asked, "Didn't I tell you not to stay in school?"
Xie Shizhu shook off his hand and asked, "Are you trying to steal my job?"
Jiang Yubai frowned and said angrily, "Are you a fool?"
Seeing such a good-looking person swearing, and at that, to him, Xie Shizhu was so angry that his face turned red. "Why are you scolding me? I think you are the one!"
While the two were arguing, the principal and the middle-aged man from last time appeared in front of them. Like last time, they called out the names and then called everyone into the laboratory one by one in order.
Jiang Yubai ignored her and sat alone in a corner, looking out the window with calm eyes.
Xie Shizhu looked at his profile. He was obviously a seventeen-year-old boy, but why was he more mature than his peers? It was puzzling.
She calmed down and approached Jiang Yubai, saying with a smile, "Want to eat? I've hidden some red bean paste buns."
Jiang Yubai turned his head away from her and said sullenly, "I don't want to eat."
Xie Shizhu was silent for a while, took out the red bean paste buns wrapped in a plastic bag from his pocket, took out one and stuffed it directly into Jiang Yubai's thin lips.
Jiang Yubai was stunned and stared at her.
Xie Shizhu blushed as he looked at her, lowered his head and said, "I think you're too thin."
Jiang Yubai's eyes were gloomy, as if he was thinking about something. He pinched the red bean paste bun with his slender fingertips, took two bites, and said indifferently: "Well, thank you."
Xie Shizhu smiled and said, "You're welcome!"
After a while, it was Jiang Yubai's turn. He looked at Xie Shizhu deeply before going in.
When he came out, the principal and the middle-aged man inside did not call her name, but looked at Xie Shizhu for a long time and talked to each other.
Their voices were very low, but Xie Shizhu could still hear them vaguely.
"He has to bear the dose of two people alone. Is that okay?"
The principal said, "It should be possible. After all, Jiang Yubai is more suitable. This woman is probably useless."
As they talked, they closed the wall of the laboratory and left quickly.
After hearing this, Xie Shizhu's face turned dark. She went straight to Jiang Yubai and asked him why he wanted to steal her job. After all, if Jiang Yubai did the experiment for her, she would not get any reward later.
Jiang Yubai's face was even paler than before. He said slowly, "Don't worry, I'll give it all to you when I get my reward."
Xie Shizhu was very surprised and stared blankly at the young man in front of him.
After a few interactions, the two gradually became familiar with each other.
A year later, Xie Shizhu graduated. She took graduation photos but couldn't leave the school.
Because one of the people in the previous experiment died.
She was brought in again. Xie Shizhu was held down by the shoulders by several people and forced to sit on a chair in the laboratory. A middle-aged man in a white coat approached her with a syringe in his hand.
Xie Shizhu was terrified when she thought about someone dying in the experiment. She was covered in cold sweat and struggled frantically.
But her strength was completely unable to fight against them. Xie Shizhu cried helplessly. When the middle-aged man brought the syringe close to the back of her hand, there was a sudden commotion outside.
The middle-aged man put the syringe on the table and hurried out with the principal to take a look. What he saw were students biting each other.
They were out of control. Some of them began to rot, their eyes turned blue, and they seemed to have lost their minds. They ran around in the classrooms and corridors, biting anyone they saw.
After being bitten, the infected person mutates into a zombie within a few minutes.
The entire school was filled with zombies, and the principal and the middle-aged man looked at each other in bewilderment.
The two knew that their experiment was successful, but the bad thing was that everything was out of control, and the two fled through the safety passage.
Xie Shizhu was left alone in the laboratory.
Xie Shizhu didn't know what was happening outside. When she ran out of the laboratory, she saw three or four zombies blocking the door.
She was so frightened that her face turned pale, her mouth slightly open and she couldn't say a word.
Suddenly, Jiang Yubai rushed in from outside. Because he was a test subject, he was taking the dose of two people's medicine. So even though he became a zombie due to the virus, he still had his sanity.
He pushed aside the zombies blocking the door and said to Xie Shizhu, "Let's go."
Xie Shizhu's eyes widened. Without time to think, she quickly left the classroom. When she reached the stairs, she hesitated for a moment and looked at Jiang Yubai: "Yubai, let's run together."
Jiang Yubai shook his head, and while he still had some sense, he urged: "If you run away, don't ever come back."
Xie Shizhu was stunned and hesitated, but Jiang Yubai's eyes in front of her gradually changed, with dark pupils occupying the whites of his eyes.
She burst into tears in disbelief.
Jiang Yubai said: "Let's go!"
Xie Shizhu's hands were shaking. She looked at the zombies rushing towards her in the corridor, then gritted her teeth and quickly went down the corridor.
When she ran to the second floor, she saw a teacher's child in the school crying out of fear.
She was just about to go down and pick up the girl and leave when suddenly, an infected zombie pounced on the little girl and bit her shoulder.
