Chapter 23 Miss Xie's Broken Engagement 23

Liu Lan was silent for a long time, then lied and said, "A friend of mine from the past."

Jing Cheng was desperate, and he didn't want to watch Jing Yan and Xie Shizhu live comfortably, so he could only follow his mother's advice and said through gritted teeth, "Okay, I'll trust you again. Also, not only will I ruin Jing Yan, I'll also make Xie Shizhu a piece of trash."

Liu Lan breathed a sigh of relief when her son agreed. "Okay, I've already told your dad, and he's agreed to let you go back to work."

"Um."

After hanging up the phone, Jing Cheng stood on the side of the road and looked back at the office building with a vicious look in his eyes.

"What do you mean by telling his father?" the middle-aged man said with a hint of dissatisfaction, "Shouldn't I be his biological father?"

Liu Lan put down her phone, glanced at the middle-aged man, exhaled a heavy breath, and said, "Wu Pengyi, this matter is only known between you and me. Don't let anyone else know for the time being. If Jing Zhiyang finds out that Jing Cheng is not his biological son, I will be finished with your son."

Wu Pengyi tutted his words, "If you hadn't broken up with me, I wouldn't be living a comfortable life now."

Liu Lan held her forehead with her hand, her expression complicated.

A long time ago, she was attracted by Jing Zhiyang because he was a rich second-generation, and she got entangled with Jing Zhiyang even though she still had a boyfriend.

Soon she became pregnant, but she knew who the father of the child was and she didn't dare to tell anyone.

So she kicked out Wu Pengyi, who was still a poor boy, and chose Jing Zhiyang.

Fortunately, Jing Zhiyang's wife died of cancer not long after. She took over the position of the young lady of the Jing family with her big belly.

Wu Pengyi also didn't know that she was pregnant, and Liu Lan planned to keep this a secret for the rest of her life.

But ever since she and Jing Cheng were tricked by Jing Yan, Jing Zhiyang's attitude towards her changed drastically. He became indifferent to her and often scolded himself for doting on Jing Cheng too much.

In addition, Jing Yan took the position of president, which made her feel even more uncomfortable.

So he went to find Wu Pengyi, but he didn't expect that the poor boy had built a career and even got involved in real estate. Although he was just starting out, he was not completely unsuccessful.

Besides, doesn’t Jing want to develop into real estate now?

As long as she seizes the opportunity and uses some means to transfer the assets belonging to her and her mother to Wu Pengyi, then the Jing family will fall into the abyss because of her trap.

By then, it would be revenge for his son.

Liu Lan lowered her arms, glanced at Wu Pengyi, and said ambiguously, "It's not too late now."

After not seeing each other for more than 20 years, Liu Lan still maintained her fair skin, which made Wu Pengyi feel hot all over.

Xie Shizhu was watching a TV series with the nanny in the living room.

The door opened from the outside, and the assistant pushed Jing Yan in. The nanny hurriedly stood up and went to prepare tea for Jing Yan.

Xie Shizhu smiled at him, "You're back."

Jing Yan nodded, his tone so gentle that it gave his assistant goosebumps. "Well, have you been home all day today?"

Xie Shizhu stretched out his arms, his brows curved, "Yes, being your wife is quite comfortable. I don't have to do anything."

The assistant left automatically. After all, he didn't want to eat dog food anymore.

Jing Yan remembered that Jing Cheng came to the company to find him today. He was originally in a heavy mood, but when he saw Xie Shizhu's smiling face, his mood suddenly brightened.

The nanny handed the cup to Jing Yan, her little eyes moving back and forth between Xie Shizhu and Jing Yan, and she was reluctant to leave. But Jing Yan glanced at her, and the nanny's face turned pale and she ran away in a hurry.

She found the chef, sighed, and said, "I feel like Mr. Jing is a bit fierce."

The chef said, "It seems so. He is only nice to his wife."

The nanny clasped her hands together and prayed, "I hope God will give me a Mr. Jing as well. If that happens, I will be a vegetarian for the rest of my life."

"This wish is not impossible to achieve."

The nanny said excitedly, "Really?"

The chef said cheerfully, "Unless you have Miss Xie's looks and family background."

The nanny's hopes were dashed by the chef's cold response.

night.

Jing Yan finished washing up and took a rest. He leaned against the bedside table, holding a magazine in his bony right hand. Listening to the sound of water coming from the shower next door, he became absent-minded.

The deep eyes looked around.

A big red wedding character was pasted on the floor-to-ceiling window in the bedroom, and the wedding photos had been taken and hung on the wall.

Jing Yan fixed his gaze on the wedding photo, gazing at the woman in the picture. She was wearing a white wedding dress, and her clear eyes seemed to be looking into his. Just a photo was enough to make Jing Yan's heart beat wildly.

He couldn't imagine whether he would lose everything if he rejected Xie Shizhu at that time.

I don't even have the courage to think further.

After taking a shower, Xie Shizhu returned to the bedroom in her cotton pajamas. She noticed Jing Yan staring at the wedding photo. She raised her lips slightly, quickly approached Jing Yan, and whispered, "Am I not as good-looking in person as in the photo?"

Jing Yan was slightly startled and subconsciously looked at Xie Shizhu. The woman's eyes were sparkling and her body smelled of shower gel. Every breath he took was filled with the scent of Xie Shizhu.

The woman in the photo overlapped with Xie Shizhu in front of him. Jing Yan could hear his own heartbeat. His voice grew hoarse, "You look better in person."

Xie Shizhu chuckled, pulled the quilt over, snuggled into the bed, and hooked Jing Yan's neck with his hand, "Then just look at me."

The two of them were so close that their breaths intertwined.

When Jing Yan was unable to control himself, Xie Shizhu quickly let go and turned off the light.

Jing Yan looked at Xie Shizhu in the dark night, many emotions flashing in his eyes.

Finally, he just said: "Good night."

Jing Yan's mind and heart were in turmoil as he heard the sound of a woman's steady breathing beside him.

But because of the car accident, his leg nerves were damaged.

He closed his eyes and his mind was clear all night. When the sky was getting light, Jing Yan opened his eyelids.

The woman next to him had one hand on his shoulder and her slender legs also fell around his waist.

Xie Shizhu's sleeping face was peaceful and beautiful, with long eyelashes drooping, his head resting on his chest, and his breath was warm.

Jing Yan's gaze gradually softened. He turned slightly to the side, raised his arm, and gently stroked Xie Shizhu's cheek with his fingertips.

Xie Shizhu moaned in his sleep, rubbed his chest, and after a few seconds, continued to sleep peacefully.

Jing Yan could feel himself getting hot all over. He took a deep breath, knowing that he should go and untie the shackles that had been buried for so long.

After he was in a car accident, the doctor told him that he might have to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and that the chance of recovery was only a pitiful 10%.

When everyone thought he was going to receive treatment, Jing Yan refused and, despite his family's dissuasion, planned to spend his whole life in a wheelchair.

After all, in his heart, he would never get married in this life, and he would not care about other people's opinions.

It is more comfortable to accept it calmly than to endure the treatment every day.
