Chapter 48 Miss Xie's Broken Engagement

She slowly sat up. There was a soft knock on the door. Xie Shizhu said in a hoarse voice, "Come in."

The nanny pushed open the door, poked her head out, and tiptoed to Xie Shizhu's side. Her eyes swirled around Xie Shizhu, and when she saw the marks under the collar of her pajamas, she blushed, shifted her gaze, and whispered, "Madam, please get up quickly. President Jing has gone to cook for her personally."

Xie Shizhu was surprised for a while, "Really?"

The nanny nodded and whispered in Xie Shizhu's ear, "I've been preparing since this morning. I'm telling you this secretly without telling the CEO. Don't let it slip later."

Xie Shizhu smiled sweetly: "Okay."

The nanny quietly left the bedroom again.

After Xie Shizhu finished washing up, he pretended to know nothing and went downstairs.

Then, she caught a glimpse of Jing Yan in his home clothes, looking gentler than usual and less austere.

Jing Yan, wearing an apron around her thin waist, was startled when she noticed Xie Shizhu standing behind her. She touched her cheek with her wet fingertips and said, "You're awake."

Xie Shizhu: "Yeah."

Jing Yan smiled, his dark eyes as deep as a well holding warmth, "Then let's go sit in the restaurant."

Xie Shizhu feigned surprise and said, "Ah? You're cooking today?"

Jing Yan pinched the tip of her upturned nose with his long fingers, "Hmm."

"Great." Xie Shizhu licked the corner of his lips and sat back in the restaurant with ease.

After a while, Jing Yan brought the steak and placed it in front of Xie Shizhu, "Eat it."

"What about you?" Xie Shizhu tilted his head while holding the fork.

Based on Jing Yan's first experience in cooking, he failed several times and it took him nearly three hours to fry a whole steak.

“…I’ve eaten.”

Xie Shizhu stuffed the knife and fork into Jing Yan's hands, propped up his chin with one hand, and smiled, "I definitely can't finish it by myself, let's eat together."

Jing Yan was slightly stunned, then slowly sat down opposite Xie Shizhu, obeyed her and nodded.

He lowered his eyelashes, held the knife and fork with his slender fingertips, and easily cut each piece of steak into the same size. Then, with his other hand, he picked up the fork and handed the steak to her lips.

Xie Shizhu stared at him, biting the steak with her beautiful lips, a smile in her eyes, and swallowed the steak under Jing Yan's increasingly gloomy gaze.

It was clearly just a meal, but Jing Yan inexplicably felt hot all over, and his sexy Adam's apple tightened slightly. In order to hold it back, Jing Yan clenched his hands under the table into fists.

"It's delicious," Xie Shizhu sighed, still wanting more. "But your obsessive-compulsive disorder has already affected your steak."

Jing Yan's thin lips curled slightly, "I'm used to it."

Jing Yan brought the steak to her lips again. Xie Shizhu took a light bite and rubbed her cheek against Jing Yan's fingertips.

The man's eyes grew darker and darker, and finally he seemed unable to restrain himself. He lifted her chin with his fingers across the table and gave her a deep kiss.

There was a bang from the restaurant door. After Jing Yan let go of Xie Shizhu, he glanced at the two people who were peeking.

The nanny and the chef were shocked. They were caught peeping and ran away guiltily.

Xie Shizhu smiled and said to Jing Yan, "It's okay, let's continue."

Jing Yan seemed a little helpless, "Just spoil them."

Suddenly, the nanny's excited voice came from outside, "Wow, there are so many drones!"

When Xie Shizhu heard what the nanny said, he subconsciously turned his head to look out the window. There were drones hovering in the sky. When Xie Shizhu was shocked, the drones formed several vertical lines in an orderly manner in the air and slowly formed a string of English letters.

"M...arry..." Xie Shizhu climbed on the window edge of the restaurant, tilted his head back, and muttered to himself, "me..."

After a few seconds, Xie Shizhu stood there in a daze and turned to look at Jing Yan.

Jing Yan walked over, put his arms around Xie Shizhu's waist, and whispered in her ear, "Before, because I was in a wheelchair, I couldn't propose to you like a normal person. Now I finally have the chance."

As soon as he finished speaking, Jing Yan let go of Xie Shizhu, knelt on one knee with his long legs, stretched out his right hand to hold Xie Shizhu's wrist, and his usually calm and reserved eyes were now a little uneasy.
