Ye Shangzhou waved his hand, "Return to the palace."
Xiao Xunzi immediately ordered the guards to lift Ye Shangzhou onto the sedan chair, but the guards were still shaken. Qiao Zhen saw one of the guards' arms stiffen slightly in fright. In just a moment of misunderstanding, Ye Shangzhou had already fallen off.
Enraged, Ye Shangzhou swept several wine jars off the stone table, scattering them on the ground in fragments.
A dark mass of people were kneeling all around.
Qiao Zhen also prostrated herself on the ground, her brows furrowed, her eyes focused on her heart. She knew without a doubt how furious and miserable Ye Shangzhou must be at this moment. She feared that tonight, many more souls would be lost in the Crane Palace.
Xiao Ling: [His sins are grave. Even if you make him a wise ruler in the future, he can only complete the system's tasks. As for your reincarnation... it's very uncertain.]
The greatest taboo for those undergoing tribulation is to cause the death of someone. If someone dies, they must be saved a hundredfold to offset their past sins. It is easy to commit evil, but difficult to expiate it.
In the blink of an eye, Qiao Zhen weighed the pros and cons. With her head down, she continued to crawl towards Ye Shangzhou on her knees.
Qiao Zhen stood up directly, put one hand under Ye Shangzhou's back and the other under his knees, and easily picked him up and placed him on the stone bench, but never looked at Ye Shangzhou's disheveled appearance.
Once Ye Shangzhou was seated on the stone bench, she went behind him, knelt down, and prostrated herself on the ground.
She is a perceptive person.
Ye Shangzhou raised an eyebrow at Qiao Zhen, reassessing her status in his mind. After a moment, he turned his head, waved his sleeve, and pointed the guards who had just carried him inside, "Execute them."
Xiao Xunzi: "Yes." His voice trembled. Even after serving Ye Shangzhou for many years, he was still not used to such cruelty and violence.
The guards were suppressed by the later guards, none of them daring to plead for their own lives. If they obediently awaited their death, they could at least die a quick and painless death; but if they displeased Ye Shangzhou, they would be left wishing for death but unable to live.
Ye Shangzhou beckoned to Qiao Zhen, then opened his arms, "Come here, hug me."
Qiao Zhen stood up without changing her expression, and then picked up Ye Shangzhou in a princess carry. Just as she placed Ye Shangzhou on the sedan chair, Ye Shangzhou said, "Carry me to the palace."
Don't you have any idea how heavy you are?!
Even though she was internally frantic, she could only calmly carry Ye Shangzhou to his palace.
Ye Shangzhou dismissed everyone except Qiao Zhen in his bedroom. He kneaded and rubbed Qiao Zhen's arms, saying, "Such slender arms, yet they have such strength."
Qiao Zhen let Ye Shangzhou do whatever he wanted to her, only lowering her head and furrowing her brows.
Ye Shangzhou opened his arms again, "Embrace me."
Qiao Zhen obediently picked up Ye Shangzhou.
"Go to the dragon bed."
Qiao Zhen placed Ye Shangzhou on the bright yellow quilt. "Your Majesty, would you like to take a bath?"
Nightfall Boat waved away Qiao Zhen.
Qiao Zhen immediately knelt down. Although she didn't know what she had done to offend this useless cat, kneeling down was always the right thing to do.
Ye Shangzhou's eyes darkened, and he sneered, "What did you just see?"
Qiao Zhen pondered for a moment, then knelt on the ground and said, "This servant has a bad memory, please tell me, Your Majesty."
Ye Shangzhou bent down and used two fingers to forcefully clamp down on Qiao Zhen's chin, forcibly lifting her head until he saw two red finger marks on her fair skin. Only then did he speak, "Just now in the pavilion, you offended me."
Qiao Zhen turned her gaze to Wu Zhu, her eyes landing on a corner of the bright yellow quilt. This question, if answered well, is an easy one; if answered poorly, it's a death sentence.
"Knowing my lowly status, I dared not look at the Emperor's face. I kept my eyes on the ground just three inches away from me, so I did not see anything."
She silently gave herself a thumbs up for her cleverness.
Ye Shangzhou brushed Qiao Zhen's face away, "So ugly."
Qiao Zhen: I am, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
Looking at Qiao Zhen's unfazed expression, Ye Shangzhou suddenly felt bored. "Prepare for a bath."
"Yes." Qiao Zhen knelt on the ground before getting up and leaving. She relayed Ye Shangzhou's orders, and her miserable life officially began.
While Ye Shangzhou was bathing, he felt that the eunuchs and palace maids weren't scrubbing him hard enough, so Qiao Zhen had to use her hands to scrub his back. "Your Majesty, how's the pressure?"
Working alongside Ye Shangzhou has only one principle: do it well, it's an easy question; do it poorly, it's a life-or-death question.
"Heavier."
Qiao Zhen increased the pressure in her hand. "Your Majesty, how is this pressure?"
Ye Shangzhou reached out and placed his hand on Qiao Zhen's hand. "Tsk, it's just like a kitten scratching an itch."
Qiao Zhen could assure her that this wasn't flirting, it was mockery! So she rubbed Ye Shangzhou's back hard with a towel, as hard as she could.
"hiss--"
Nightfallen Boat gasped in pain.
Qiao Zhen immediately knelt on the ground in a miserable manner. With a "thud," her knees touched the ground, and she couldn't help but gasp in pain. "Your Majesty, please forgive me."
Ye Shangzhou fished the wet towel out of the water and swung it forcefully onto Qiao Zhen's back.
Qiao Zhen felt a sudden, unexpected pain in her back. Her back must have turned red, and tears instantly filled her eyes.
"Ha! Even a kitten has its moments of showing its claws."
Qiao Zhen was sobbing, the kind of sobbing where tears were really falling; her back hurt so much that she couldn't help but whimper...
Ye Shangzhou reached out and looked up at Qiao Zhen's face. There were two tear tracks on her face. He wiped the tears off Qiao Zhen's face with a handkerchief. "Little kitten, don't cry. I don't blame you."
Qiao Zhen felt like crying even more in an instant. They had already hit her, so how could they say they didn't blame her? How hypocritical! And the towel that wiped her tears was the same one that had been used to wipe Ye Shangzhou's back, and it was covered in dirt.
