Supervision? That's what she's best at. If He Zhao misbehaves, she can easily give him a beating. "Okay, doctor, I'll definitely supervise him properly."
The doctor gave Zhang Ma many more instructions before turning to Qiao Zhen and saying, "Miss Qiao, could you please help Zhang Ma get Mr. He to take his medicine?"
Qiao Zhen thought it would just be a beating, so she readily agreed.
The doctor gave Qiao Zhen some instructions, left his business card, and left with a nurse. Before leaving, he specifically told Qiao Zhen to contact him immediately if He Zhao had any problems.
Qiao Zhen put the hot business card into her bag, and inexplicably felt a heavy responsibility weighing on her shoulders.
He Zhao woke up at eight o'clock in the evening. When he opened his eyes, he saw the halo of light emanating from the carved chandelier, which looked somewhat hazy. The moment his memories returned was also a moment of satisfaction for him. He took out his phone and notified Qiao Zhen on his blog about her return.
Qiao Zhen had no idea that He Zhao was up to something. She secretly shaved some candied beans into her vegetable porridge, feeling a pang of regret. Qiao Zhen didn't want to waste the candied beans, but what could she do when He Zhao's health was so poor?
The doctor said that He Zhao's body was like a hollowed-out sponge. It looked like there was nothing seriously wrong, but in fact, the sponge inside had been hollowed out. If even a little weight was placed on it, He Zhao would be completely crushed.
He Zhao struggled to sit up. He looked at the bag on the bedside table. It was the bag Qiao Zhen had taken with her when she came to see him during the day. He immediately threw off the covers and nervously and expectantly opened the door to go out. His heart was in his throat.
He walked step by step to the stairs, looking down at the busy servants. Qiao Zhen was not there, which was expected, but He Zhao could not help but feel a sense of loss.
Just as he turned to go back to his room, Qiao Zhen came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of porridge.
In fact, He Zhao hesitated. Like a dying person waiting for a miracle, he couldn't help but slow down and wait a little longer, thinking that a miracle might just appear before his eyes.
Qiao Zhen didn't notice He Zhao upstairs. Holding a bowl in one hand and gripping the handrail with the other, she reached the top and noticed He Zhao looking at her with a complicated expression. She blurted out, "You're not thinking of jumping off the building to commit suicide, are you?"
He Zhao silently turned and went back to his room.
Qiao Zhen followed behind him, placing the vegetable porridge on the bedside table. She gloated, "Congratulations! You're going to eat a very bland vegetarian diet for a month. Are you happy?"
He Zhao grabbed Qiao Zhen's wrist, and after hesitating for a long time, he finally asked like a timid wife, "Are you... not leaving?"
Qiao Zhen smiled at He Zhao, her eyes revealing no trace of malice. "Of course I'm not leaving. I'll be at ease if I see you're not doing well."
He Zhao didn't notice Qiao Zhen's rudeness, or perhaps he noticed it but simply ignored it. He was completely focused on the words "not leaving," and immediately became as happy as a 200-pound child, "It's good that you're not leaving."
[Tribulation quest completed.]
Xiao Ling: [Congratulations, host!]
Qiao Zhen was completely bewildered: [What's going on?]
Little Zero chuckled foolishly, "[I don't know, but it's already finished.]"
Although she didn't know why the mission was suddenly completed, Qiao Zhen still calmly withdrew her hand and left.
As if to cause trouble, He Zhao pulled Qiao Zhen into his arms with a sudden force. He looked at the startled Qiao Zhen in his arms with a grin, rested his head on her shoulder, and muttered, "So soft, so comfortable."
Qiao Zhen's neck stiffened for a moment, but she didn't push him away. Now that the mission was accomplished, she wouldn't act so arrogantly anymore. She needed to focus on He Zhao's recovery; there was still a long time ahead. She hugged him back, letting out a barely audible sigh, as if succumbing to her soft heart towards He Zhao. "Eat your porridge."
He Zhao nuzzled Qiao Zhen's neck and sighed comfortably, "Okay."
Qiao Zhen handed the vegetable porridge to He Zhao. Just as she was about to turn and leave, He Zhao panicked and knocked over the bowl. She leaned over and pulled Qiao Zhen back. Qiao Zhen raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong?"
He Zhao said, seemingly out of spite, "You're not allowed to leave! You have to stay and keep me company."
At the same time, an electronic voice rang in Qiao Zhen's mind: [The completion rate of the tribulation mission has dropped to zero. Please try again, host.]
Qiao Zhen: [What do you mean?]
Xiao Ling: [That's right, he suddenly won't forgive you again, so the tribulation mission still needs to be completed. Host, please take some time to process this.]
Qiao Zhen: [So, you mean as long as you forgive me before He Zhao dies, that's enough, right?]
Xiao Ling: [Essentially, that's correct.]
Qiao Zhen's smile held a hint of malice. She had just been preparing to live a good life with He Zhao, but He Zhao had made a mess of things, so she couldn't blame her for being ruthless!
Xiao Ling felt a chill in the air and lit a candle for He Zhao, blaming him for his fuss.
Qiao Zhen sneered, "Ha! What gives you the right to say 'no' to me?"
He Zhao hurriedly tried to get off the bed to stop Qiao Zhen, but Qiao Zhen pushed him down onto the bed until he was panting heavily before she stood up. "Good boy, with you looking so weak right now, I'm not interested at all."
Qiao Zhen patted her wrinkled clothes, turned around and left. She went downstairs to get another bowl of vegetable porridge.
He Zhao sat up, panting heavily. After three years, He Xiaozhao finally stood up again, albeit shakily! A few blushes appeared on his cheeks as he slowly lowered his head.
When Qiao Zhen brought up the vegetable porridge, He Zhao was still sitting on the bed, looking shy and dazed. Qiao Zhen's head was throbbing. When he was acting crazy, she thought he was abnormal. When he wasn't acting crazy, she thought he was even more abnormal. Was he beyond saving?
