Chapter 304 I'll only fool you if you're blind. (4)

"Because I feel sorry for you." Qiao Zhen answered frankly, not out of pity or anything else. "Young Master, go to sleep early, you have to get up early tomorrow."

"Hmm, you're not allowed to leave." An Zhao, as if she had something to rely on, ordered Qiao Zhen in a condescending manner.

Relying on her tenderness.

Qiao Zhen stretched out her arms and pressed them against him. "Okay, I won't leave."

An's father stood at the door of An Zhao's bedroom in the middle of the night. He exhaled a smoke ring, and when he heard the door open and close, he looked up and saw Qiao Zhen walking out of the bedroom. "What are you doing in there?"

He's been standing here for about half an hour. A girl in her son's room for half an hour—there's a lot she could do, and it could be quite complicated.

“Sir, the young master doesn’t sleep very well every night.” Qiao Zhen explained in a low voice. Just as she was about to leave, she couldn’t help but feel sorry for An Zhao and said a few more words, “Sir, instead of standing at the young master’s door, why don’t you take some time during the day to check on him?”

Father An waved his hand.

Qiao Zhen left.

An's father took another drag of his cigarette. Since his beloved wife passed away, it wasn't that he didn't love An Zhao, but he didn't know how to face her. He was afraid that seeing An Zhao would make him feel guilty, and he was even more afraid that he would do something irreversible or say something that would hurt An Zhao and cause irreparable damage.

He also felt guilty, because his negligence towards An Zhao had given the business enemies an opportunity to take advantage of the situation, causing little An Zhao to lose her eyesight. At that time, An Zhao did not remember what the world looked like, nor could she distinguish colors.

Mr. An watched Qiao Zhen's departing figure, his eyes darkening. If his son had taken a liking to Qiao Zhen, things would be much easier; after all, Qiao Zhen was just the nanny's daughter.

Qiao Zhen continued to take care of An Zhao as always, and their relationship gradually improved, especially as An Zhao began to treat Qiao Zhen with kindness and gentleness. Qiao Zhen was overjoyed, feeling a sense of relief at having raised a treacherous wolf to adulthood.

After investigating the matter thoroughly, An's father broke off business with An Jue's family as a warning.

Anjue no longer dared to bully Anzhao to seek a sense of superiority. After all, Anzhao's father was a well-known business elite in the city with extensive connections and a wealth of resources, which Anjue, a rising star, could not compete with.

"Young Master, tomorrow is a holiday. The Master asked me to take you to Ms. Yao's house." Qiao Zhen said to An Zhao while doing her homework. The boy in front of her had a gentle face, but when he heard the second half of her sentence, his eyes showed an uncontrollable violence and irritation.

An Zhao rested his arms on the table and buried his head in his arms. He had an indescribable feeling in his heart and didn't want Qiao Zhen to see his bad side. He took a few breaths to calm himself down and said, "I'm not going."

Qiao Zhen followed his example, resting her head on her arm. "Young Master, do you not like Ms. Yao? But it seems like you can't refuse what the Master says."

An Zhao was holding her breath.

Qiao Zhen reached out and squeezed An Zhao's fingers, unexpectedly reassuring him, "Young Master, I'll go with you. I'll take care of everything, don't worry."

"Mmm." An Zhao pulled Qiao Zhen's arm under her head, feeling very safe.

On Saturday evening after school, Qiao Zhen packed her things and took An Zhao to Ms. Yao's place. Ms. Yao was An Zhao's mother's younger sister, that is, An Zhao's aunt. Logically speaking, after An Zhao's mother passed away, Ms. Yao should be An Zhao's closest elder, but An Zhao had a resistant attitude towards her, which was so severe that it turned into disgust.

"Ms. Yao."

Yao Qingsi smiled gently, raising her hand to stroke An Zhao's fluffy head, "Zhao Zhao has grown up."

An Zhao turned his head impatiently and pulled Qiao Zhen's arm, "Stay away from her."

From Qiao Zhen's perspective, An Zhao's behavior was extremely impolite, but Qiao Zhen was biased and favored him. "I'm sorry, Ms. Yao, the young master doesn't like people touching his head. Please understand."

Yao Qingsi smiled helplessly yet affectionately, "Don't be so distant, little girl. Just call me Auntie like Zhao Zhao does. I'm very easygoing."

An Zhao said sarcastically, "I'll just call you Ms. Yao, like Zhenzhen does."

Qiao Zhen squeezed An Zhao's arm, telling him to tone it down. She looked at Yao Qing Si with an apologetic smile, "Young Master has a bad temper, please understand."

An Zhao was angry that Qiao Zhen openly spoke ill of him, but he didn't throw a tantrum at Qiao Zhen. He grabbed Qiao Zhen and said, "Let's go quickly."

Qiao Zhen's smile towards Yao Qingsi was filled with more apology. She was being pulled away by An Zhao, and then she turned to look at An Zhao's desolate and thin back. "Young Master, walk slowly!"

An Zhao ignored her advice and walked even faster, occasionally bumping into pedestrians and obstacles on the roadside. Qiao Zhen followed behind and apologized on his behalf.

Qiao Zhen looked helplessly at An Zhao, who was ignoring everything, and tentatively called out, "Zhao Zhao?"

"Hmph!" An Zhao gave a haughty snort, then grabbed Qiao Zhen's arm. "Is Yao Qingsi still here?"

Qiao Zhen was slightly taken aback. "He's not here."

An Zhao then gently advised Qiao Zhen, "Stay away from her. She's not a good person. You're so kind, don't be fooled by her appearance."

Kind-hearted Qiao Zhen's lips twitched. She looked at An Zhao with a wry smile, "Young Master, although I am kind, I am not stupid. Don't worry, I still have to protect you!"

An Zhao hesitated for a moment, then made a request to Qiao Zhen: "Call me Zhao Zhao."

"Okay, Zhao Zhao." Qiao Zhen's eyes crinkled with joy, indicating that she was close to winning An Zhao's heart and that their relationship had made a substantial breakthrough. Of course, she was very happy!

An Zhao pulled Qiao Zhen into his arms, wanting to explicitly ask her to stay by his side from now on, but then he swallowed back the words, saying, "Let's go back."
