When Qiao Zhen entered An Zhao's classroom, she saw An Zhao sitting alone in her seat, looking rather unwell. Her first thought was that An Zhao had been bullied. "I'm sorry I'm late today. Were you bored while waiting?"
An Zhao retorted, "Where did you go?"
As Qiao Zhen helped him up, she explained, "I was just stopped by a boy in the same grade who asked me some questions."
An Zhao pressed, "What is it?"
"Nothing's wrong, hurry up, we need to go have lunch," Qiao Zhen urged.
Her urging snapped a string in An Zhao's mind, and he violently shook off Qiao Zhen's arm. "You're the fastest to go by yourself! What did you come to me for?!"
Qiao Zhen was stunned by An Zhao's outburst of temper. She replied in disbelief, "I'll take you to lunch, sweetie. It was my fault for not coming sooner."
An Zhao now loathed her doting tone, and when he got impatient, he started to speak recklessly, "Isn't it just about money? You won't lose a penny if you skip a meal!"
Qiao Zhen's short temper flared up instantly. She suppressed her anger and told herself that she couldn't hit him. She tried to soften her tone as much as possible, "Good boy, I admit I'm late. It's not good to leave you alone in the classroom. I sincerely apologize to you now. Please forgive me, little An Zhao, okay?"
An Zhao had heard that he was alone in the classroom just now, and now that it was just him and Qiao Zhen, he asked directly, "Do you like that boy from earlier?"
