Chapter 93 Can You Not Be So Fierce? (7)

Qiao Zhen was forced onto the carriage. She leaned out the window and watched the children playing by the roadside. Without making a sound, she threw the handkerchief from her sleeve off the carriage.

Pan Zhao recognized this handkerchief; whether it would end up in his hands in the future depended entirely on luck.

Yan Rupu sat opposite Qiao Zhen. She couldn't be more distant from Qiao Zhen than she could be. Besides, she hadn't eaten well for several days, so she picked up some pastries to fill her stomach as soon as she got into the carriage.

Along the way, Qiao Zhen was always accompanied by servants who kept a close watch on her, no matter what she did.

Yan Rupu was no longer polite to Qiao Zhen as before, and was completely bossy towards her.

Having witnessed Qiao Zhen's ignorance and lack of knowledge in the past few days, she had become somewhat more relaxed towards him and spoke to him without the same restraint as before. "The Ge family and Father have always been at odds. When Pan Zhao is granted an official title and rank in the future, we will win him over and make General Ge furious."

Yan Rujue, however, was wary. He was cautious by nature and dared not relax even when he was a nobody. He glared at Yan Rupu and said, "We'll discuss this matter when we get back."

Qiao Zhen pretended not to understand. When she had free time, she ate some pastries and drank some tea, which were things she couldn't afford to eat or drink now. At the same time, she sorted out the conversation between Yan Rupu and Yan Ruyu over the past few days.

She could deduce from the conversation between Yan Rupu and Yan Rujue that General Ge and General Yan were adversaries, and that the conflict was quite intense. Yan Rupu wanted to use her to win over Pan Zhao in the future, firstly to damage General Ge's prestige, secondly to gain merit in front of General Yan, and thirdly to suppress the momentum of her elder sister, Yan Ruyu.

This is a perfect example of killing three birds with one stone.

According to Yan Rupu, after using Qiao Zhen to win over Pan Zhao, they will send Qiao Zhen to her death and pin the blame on General Ge. At that time, Pan Zhao will definitely hate General Ge, and the Yan family can simply sit back and reap the benefits.

But Yan Rujue's concerns were not unreasonable. Qiao Zhen appeared oblivious, but she knew perfectly well what was going on in her mind.

General Ge is recruiting soldiers in various places. If Qiao Zhen escapes, it wouldn't be a bad idea for him to work in the army as a logistics officer.

With her objective so clear, Qiao Zhen secretly memorized the route, ready to escape as soon as the opportunity arose.

That day, the Yan siblings took Qiao Zhen to stay at an inn, which was probably a shady establishment.

The bracelet Qiao Zhen had hidden in her sleeve burned her skin, and Chu Chu's warning echoed in her mind.

[The sleeping potion, in sufficient quantity, colorless and odorless.]

Seeing that the Yan siblings had drunk the water, Qiao Zhen made an excuse to go to the outhouse. Her servants followed her, and she asked casually, "Do you want some water? Your lips look very dry."

I never responded.

Yan Rupu mocked, "Madam Pan is best at judging whether someone is thirsty or not. Since she sees you're thirsty, why don't you drink?"

Qiao Zhen looked at Yan Rupu, who was providing divine assistance, and silently lowered her head in a "self-deprecating" manner.

The servant obediently picked up the bowl that Qiao Zhen hadn't drunk from, tilted his head back, and gulped it down in a few mouthfuls.

Qiao Zhen walked towards the outhouse. She could feel the shifty eyes of the innkeeper. When the servants started to feel dizzy, she also pretended to be swaying and waited for the shifty eyes to leave before she ran to a secluded part of the inn and climbed over the wall to get out.

She was quite skilled, although her physical abilities couldn't keep up, and she ended up falling off the wall. Fortunately, the inn didn't have anyone guarding the outside.

But misfortune never comes singly. Before Qiao Zhen had run very far, she was spotted by two shifty-eyed men. She ran towards a crowded place, her petite body weaving through the crowd. In the end, she was too exhausted to continue, so she went to sleep in a dilapidated temple for the night.

The next day, Qiao Zhen disguised herself as a tomboy, dressed in tattered clothes, her face covered in black ash. She learned from a beggar that she was in Diao City of Yuanping Kingdom. Yesterday, the Meige Pavilion in the center of Diao City bought a beautiful girl named Puyu. The equally famous Juange Pavilion bought a handsome young man named Wang Ruyu.

The connection between the two is obvious with a little thought: Pu Yu is Yan Rupu, and Wang Ruyu is Yan Rujue.

Qiao Zhen thought maliciously, "Serves them right! Who told them to act without conscience or principles? Now they're getting their comeuppance."

She was originally a monkey-faced, sharp-tongued woman, so she was a master at disguising herself as a sleazy beggar. She begged her way from Diao City to the place where General Ge's subordinates were recruiting soldiers. This demonstrates her high emotional intelligence, as well as her utter lack of morals, shamelessness, and integrity.

"Sir, would you accept someone like me?" Qiao Zhen raised an eyebrow, smiling lewdly.

The armored man waved his hand impatiently, "Get out! Get out!"

Qiao Zhen didn't give up easily. She stepped forward, grabbed the man's hand, and bent his back. "Is this still not enough?"

A man in armor watched Qiao Zhen's skills from a distance, a glint of shrewdness flashing in his eyes. "Kid, beat me, and I'll let you join the army."

Without saying a word, Qiao Zhen threw a punch. The punch seemed to be delivered with all her might, but it was just a feint. She then swept her other fist toward the man's neck.

The man also raised his arm to block.

Taking advantage of the man's inattention, Qiao Zhen kicked him in the stomach, saying, "In martial arts, speed is the only thing that can't be broken."

The man staggered a couple of steps after being kicked by her. "Haha! Good lad, you're clever enough. I'll add him to my team."

Qiao Zhen cupped her hands in apology, "You flatter me."

Thus, she successfully infiltrated General Ge's ranks.

Qiao Zhen has small breasts, so she only needs to wrap her chest with cloth to pretend that they are pectoral muscles. Although she has a pointed face and monkey-like features, she still looks a bit effeminate. Fortunately, no one in the group of men who took her in disliked her appearance.

There were six men in one tent. Among Qiao Zhen's tentmates was a burly but sentimental man named Wu Kui. Wu Kui often put his arm around Qiao Zhen's shoulder and talked about war, stars, the moon, and the blooming and withering of flowers.
