Qiao Zhen opened her eyes wide, a mouthful of soup stuck in her throat, she quickly took out a tissue from her pocket and covered her mouth and nose, afraid that the soup in her mouth would come out of her nose.
After finally managing to sip the soup, Gu Chen's soft laughter came from above.
An Erle was completely bewildered. She blinked her bright eyes and asked, "Chu Zhao, what are you saying?"
Chu Zhao sighed and shook his head. "No, you don't understand my words, so you don't deserve to have it."
Qiao Zhen could only marvel at how exceptionally good the hairspray Chu Zhao used was; his spiky hairstyle had held up all afternoon.
An Erle's smile held a hint of embarrassment. "Chu Zhao, were you just playing a trick on me?"
Qiao Zhen kept her eyes down and her mind at ease; she didn't want to get involved in this completely unnecessary and bizarre dispute.
Gu Chen usually sat next to Chu Zhao, and his understanding of Chu Zhao could be described in two words: see right through him. So he frowned and silently ate his dinner.
Perhaps it was Qiao Zhen and Gu Chen's indifference that hurt An Erle's feelings. Suddenly, An Erle stood up, her delicate face flushed with anger, making her look even more adorable. "I know I got in here on special terms. I don't have your money or your power, but you can't treat me like this! It's too much!"
Qiao Zhen coughed lightly and weakly raised her head. "Ahem, An Erle, we weren't teasing you, it's just that Chu Zhao's brain..."
There's a pitfall.
"Enough!" An Erle interrupted Qiao Zhen. "Wenzhen, I thought you were different from them because of your gentle demeanor. But it turns out I was wrong!"
"?" Qiao Zhen looked at An Erle with a puzzled expression, only to see the other woman walk away with a strong back. She looked at Gu Chen in confusion, "What did I just do?"
Gu Chen smiled and shook his head. "She's too proud, so she misunderstood you just now. She probably thought you were intentionally ignoring her." He thought for a moment, "An Erle is probably blaming you for not speaking up for her just now."
After listening to Gu Chen's explanation, Chu Zhao slammed his fist on the table with a loud "bang".
Qiao Zhen and Gu Chen both turned to look at Chu Zhao. Qiao Zhen asked, "What's wrong?"
The once quiet restaurant fell silent after Chu Zhao's punch, and their table was now under everyone's gaze.
Chu Zhao looked at Qiao Zhen and asked, "Zhenzhen, do you think Gu Chen is right?"
Qiao Zhen was very fair and asked tactfully, "Considering An's background and her behavior just now, do you have a better explanation?"
Chu Zhao lowered her eyes and slumped into her chair as if she had suffered a major blow. "Zhenzhen, I'm very disappointed in you. This world should be equal for everyone, not based on a person's background. You can't choose your birth."
Qiao Zhen smiled and retorted, "I didn't say that everyone is unequal. I meant that backgrounds are unequal, just like how we spoiled brats should never try to go against the second and third generations of the elite."
Chu Zhao laughed unrestrainedly, "So, is this the reason why you and Gu Chen share the same views?"
After he finished speaking, he gave Qiao Zhen a deep look, his disdain evident in his eyes, before turning away and leaving.
To be honest, Chu Zhao's figure looked inexplicably desolate.
Qiao Zhen was even more confused. She looked at Gu Chen and asked, "What did Chu Zhao mean just now?"
Gu Chen explained nonchalantly, "Well, it's probably because I'm a third-generation revolutionary."
"Ah..." Qiao Zhen asked in a serious tone, "I didn't offend you just now, did I?"
Gu Chen answered seriously, "Yes."
Qiao Zhen raised an eyebrow. "Where?"
Gu Chen looked at the plate full of snacks in front of him: "If we don't eat now, it will be too late, because I might have to go to evening self-study hungry because of you."
Qiao Zhen used chopsticks to pick up the noodles, then spun the chopsticks to turn the noodles into a ball before putting them into her mouth.
Gu Chen asked in surprise, "What kind of way is this?"
Qiao Zhen explained, "This way you can avoid making slurping noises when you eat noodles. But according to your upbringing, you don't need to eat noodles like that. Isn't it supposed to be that no matter how messy you are, you can always appear elegant?"
Gu Chen frowned. "Who said that?"
"...I'm sorry, I've been reading too many novels." Qiao Zhen silently lowered her head and ate the food in front of her.
Gu Chen muttered to himself, "I thought Wen, who was so focused on her studies, didn't have any other hobbies."
"No way! I just like to make the most of my time so that I can have more time to do what I like when I get back." Qiao Zhen raised her chin and pointed at Gu Chen's plate. "If we don't eat now, we really won't have any time left."
So the two of them devoured the remaining food in no time.
"Go back to class and do your homework." Qiao Zhen wanted to grimace and show her headache just thinking about that annoying little devil that was homework, but the original owner's character didn't allow her to do such an unseemly thing, so she smiled warmly and calmly.
When she and Gu Chen walked back to their classroom side by side, they saw An Erle standing at the entrance of Class 1 with red eyes, while Chu Zhao was comforting An Erle with a melancholy expression.
When Chu Zhao saw Qiao Zhen and Gu Chen return, he immediately blocked the doorway: "Zhenzhen, apologize to An Erle."
Qiao Zhen didn't hesitate to shift the blame, "Why didn't you let Gu Chen apologize to An Erle with me?"
"You're the one who just said that we shouldn't try to provoke the second and third generations of the elite."
Very good, Chu Zhao can apply what he has learned to other situations.
Qiao Zhen gave a cold laugh. "Oh, then why should I apologize to her? What did I do wrong? Just because I'm not weaker than An Erle, does that mean I'm wrong?"
