Chapter 140 A Miserable Life (Part Six)

The school wasn't far from Yu's home, so Xiang Wan didn't need Yu Dazhuang to take her there; she walked there herself.

Before leaving, tears welled up in Yu Xiaoguang's eyes. Xiang Wan didn't think it was because the boy was reluctant to part with her; she thought it was probably because he was excited that no one was making him work.

Upon entering the dilapidated school, a group of children and parents stood on the overgrown playground. Xiang Wan looked closely and saw that almost all of them were girls, with the only three boys being the same few who had been attending the school before.

"Fellow villagers and students, this is our new teacher, Mr. Li, a well-known college graduate from the city who has come to our village to teach. Let's give him a warm welcome!"

Teacher Liu's face was all wrinkled from laughing, and all you could hear was him clapping his hands loudly.

The group patted him a few times, and Teacher Liu, feeling a little embarrassed, cleared his throat and said, "Teacher Li's visit to our little village has truly brought glory to our village. There are so few children in our village who go to school. To improve the school enrollment rate in our village, Teacher Li provides financial assistance to every child. Every family that sends a girl to school can receive a sponsorship fee from Teacher Li every year."

"How much money?" one parent asked.

Teacher Liu glanced at Li Mu, saw that his expression was normal, and then turned to say, "Teacher Li is a very kind person, he won't shortchange you, at least this amount."

He held up five fingers, and the crowd immediately cheered.

Can my second child come?

"How old are you?" Li Mu asked.

"3 years old."

"Tch! You're obsessed with money."

"Exactly, didn't you see this is an elementary school? It's not like we're taking care of kids."

Several parents started talking at once, and Li Mu frowned slightly. Teacher Liu waved her hand, interrupting the discussion.

"This is for elementary school students, ages 6 to 12, girls only."

"Why? What's the point of a girl learning so much if she still has to get married?"

"Exactly, isn't this a waste of money!"

"Quiet down, everyone, listen to what Teacher Li has to say!" Teacher Liu shouted, silencing the crowd, and smiled at Li Mu, "Teacher Li, these villagers are just being silly, don't take it to heart."

Li Mu cleared his throat and began his unique way of speaking, which he called "deception".
