Chapter 144 A Miserable Life (Part 10)

After Aunt Yu came to the school to cook, there is now a bathroom for the children to bathe in. It is very simple, just a brick house with walls on all four sides and a window at the top that the children can't reach.

There are several small cubicles inside, about waist-high. When you want to take a shower, you bring in a bucket of hot water, squat down to shower, and then pour the water into the sink in front of the cubicle so it flows outside.

Although it's very inconvenient, it's still much better than bathing in the open air; something is better than nothing.

Aside from pretending to study, Xiang Wan spent the rest of her time figuring out how to sneak out of school openly. Without herbs, even her medical skills were useless.

For a top student, something that should be a breeze is painful to start from scratch while pretending to know nothing. That's why Xiang Wan went to Teacher Liu and recited all the books she'd read in the past few days, thus securing a chance to leave the school. She dared not show off too much; too much attention would be detrimental to her plans.

After leaving the school, Xiang Wan headed straight for Yu's home. At school, she had been thinking that if she went out to find herbs herself, it would be too much trouble and time-consuming. Instead of letting those children do nothing all day, she might as well help her.

Yu Xiaoguang was honestly cooking at home when he saw Xiang Wan coming over. He jumped for joy and almost set the kitchen on fire.

"Sister, why are you back?"

"Nonsense, why would I wait for you to come looking for me if I didn't come back?"

Yu Xiaoguang blushed slightly at what was said. He had mentioned wanting to visit Xiang Wan before, but hadn't found a suitable opportunity. Most importantly, there was no food at home for him to bring, so he hadn't gone. Now that he saw Xiang Wan had returned on her own, he was quite happy.

"Yu Xiaoguang, I haven't been out for long. Can you find me something? Next time you come to the school, just say you're bringing me food."

As she spoke, Xiang Wan took out a blank page torn from her textbook and drew everything she needed on it. The drawings were so lifelike that even someone who couldn't read could easily identify the objects by comparing the pictures. Xiang Wan had maxed out her drawing skills from her first life, so drawing flowers and plants was incredibly easy for her.

Yu Xiaoguang was immediately captivated by the painting.

"Sis, what are you drawing? It looks so real."

With a "smack," Xiang Wan gave Yu Xiaoguang a flick on the forehead. "It was drawn based on the real thing. This is the task I gave you: find your friends, bring these things to me, and I'll teach them how to make them. Remember, these are for feeding small animals. Tell everyone that if they ask."

"But what if we can't find it?"

"You're so stupid. Just because you can't find it doesn't mean they can't."

"oh."

Yu Xiaoguang's dazed look made Xiang Wan unable to resist teasing him again. Sometimes she would wonder, Yu Xiaoguang wasn't a bad person, so why didn't the original owner develop a sibling relationship with him? Perhaps, relationships between people really do depend on fate.

While Yu Dazhuang was away, Xiang Wan went to see Zhou Xiaoya again. The original owner's mother was actually quite good to her, but whenever she was with Yu Dazhuang, she could only obey.

Zhou Xiaoya made some handicrafts, like lifelike kittens and puppies. Seeing Xiang Wan return, she gave her some steamed buns and other food. Before Xiang Wan left, Zhou Xiaoya secretly gave her some money—not much, just a few cents—but it was a significant amount for Zhou Xiaoya. Xiang Wan refused and put it back. She appreciated the gesture, but it wouldn't be worth it if it gave Yu Dazhuang another excuse to beat Zhou Xiaoya up.

School life resumed, and Xiang Wan painfully endured a year of learning, pretending not to understand what she was learning. She had grown taller and fuller, looking much better than her previous skinny self, and quite vibrant. Yu Xiaoguang and the others would occasionally come over to bring Xiang Wan things, and of course, Xiang Wan would also find opportunities to go out and teach them how to exercise, and incidentally, introduce them to things like acupoints.

While everyone else was out doing laundry and eating, Xiang Wan finally had a chance to work with her medicinal herbs. There weren't many, but she managed to get the most important ones, enough for self-defense.

The older kids in the dorm started showing off their new clothes, and Xiang Wan suddenly slapped her forehead: Oh no, I almost forgot about Li Mu, that big bad wolf who's been eyeing girls.

The next day, she secretly followed the girl and saw her look around and, not seeing anyone, enter a room that was not usually frequented.

This room used to be a storage room, but due to wind and rain, it fell into disrepair over the years, and no one stores anything here anymore. Over time, even a cat is rarely seen here.

The door to the dilapidated room was a bit drafty. Xiang Wan noticed that the girl hadn't closed the door properly after going in, so she hid in a corner to observe. A moment later, she saw a man, his face completely covered by a scarf, walk in and close the door behind him.

"Hehe, little girl, have you been waiting long?" Xiang Wan immediately recognized the male voice coming from inside as Li Mu.

"Just arrived, did you buy me new clothes?"

"No rush, no rush, let's take care of the important business first."

The talking stopped, followed by some indescribable sounds. Xiang Wan was completely bewildered; it seemed she had stumbled upon this situation again.

"Tsk tsk, I told you, what's the point of you running away? You'll either be the one to go up there or watch others go up there, why bother?"

No matter what she didn't want to hear, 007 insisted on saying it. Damn it, Xiang Wan almost had the urge to bring out the system and stomp on it.

"Oh, so you're an experienced driver, no wonder, tsk tsk!"

"Xiang Wan, what are you 'tsk tsk'ing about? Is what this system said wrong?"

"For a seasoned system like yours that can search for 100,000 high-definition, uncensored animated GIFs of fairies fighting from every angle in a minute, you should be tired of seeing them by now. Why are you still in the mood to come and watch?"

The system choked, then said firmly, "It's my business whether I want to or not! Humph!"

Oh~~~

The system was so uneasy by the fact that it dragged out a single note for three notes, it lost its footing and disappeared.

Xiang Wan curled her lip: When it comes to escaping, the system is number one, no one dares to claim second place.

About ten minutes later, the door to the room slowly opened. First, the girl from before came out, carrying a cloth bag, her face slightly flushed. Then, Li Mu, bundled up tightly, went out through another path.

Xiang Wan waited a while longer, and after confirming that no one was coming, she quietly pushed open the door and entered the room.

The surrounding clutter was old and moldy, except for a tattered straw mat about half a person's width in the middle, on which a human-shaped imprint was still visible. Judging from the dust and footprints around the mat, Xiang Wan deduced that Li Mu hadn't been here often. Based on her observations of the female classmates, this was probably the first one he had successfully slept with.

Recalling what happened to the original owner later, Xiang Wan's eyes turned cold: Li Mu, in this life, you can forget about ever having the chance to lay a finger on any other girl!
