Xiang Wan stood up, patted the dirt off her clothes, and walked along the base of the wall in the dim light of her miner's lamp.
It was a spacious tomb chamber. She walked a short distance inside and found torches on the wall, their grease blackened. She took out a lighter and lit the torches one by one.
"Phew! Finally, we can see the light."
Seeing the firelight, Xiang Wan felt a great sense of relief. From the moment she opened her eyes in this world, she had been in complete darkness, unable to distinguish between day and night. Oh, she could have asked the system what time it was. But in her haste, she had completely forgotten such an important thing.
After all that traveling, she finally felt exhausted, and her body's instincts told her that she should go to sleep.
"Xiao Qi, what time is it now?"
Which time are you asking about? Southern Hemisphere or Northern Hemisphere?
"Nonsense, of course I'm asking about the current rest time. Never mind, let's just ask if it's daytime or nighttime outside."
"The sun has completely moved to the other side of the earth, you can go to sleep now. The question is, can you sleep? Aren't you worried that the Pharaoh or some other monster will eat you as a snack?"
That's a problem, but most animals are afraid of fire. As long as she wakes up before the fire goes out, there won't be any issues. As for where to sleep, she looked around and had a good idea.
The tomb chamber was covered with exquisite murals, but they were somewhat dazzling to her. Her eyes could no longer focus for long, indicating that she was extremely tired and in dire need of rest. For her safety, she could not lie on the ground or in a conspicuous place.
In the center of the tomb chamber were several sarcophagi surrounding a tall, seated statue of a pharaoh. Beside the statue was a staff that extended all the way to the top of the tomb chamber. Further up, not far from the top of the staff, there appeared to be a recessed crevice embedded in the top of the tomb chamber wall.
Seeing this, Xiang Wan no longer hesitated. She adjusted her backpack and climbed upwards along the staff with all her might. The staff was very sturdy and could easily support the weight of an adult. When she reached the top, she reached out to touch the gap, just a hand's width away.
This level of activity was extremely physically demanding. The longer it dragged on, the more her body would suffer. She decisively took out her climbing axe, gripped it tightly with both hands, then slowly turned around, clamping her staff between her legs. Facing the crack, she pushed off with all her might, hanging onto the wall. Using every ounce of strength, she pulled herself up a certain distance with both hands, then reached out her left hand to grab the edge of the crack, and with her right hand, she pushed the climbing axe up. Then, with a final effort, she slowly climbed in, inch by inch.
Lying in that crevice, Xiang Wan couldn't believe she still had the guts to do it. Her arms ached and went numb, and she was covered in sweat. She used her backpack to block the crevice, and in her reclining position, she turned her head and fell asleep without even having time to tell the system to wake her up if something was wrong.
"Your Highness, I am your wife! Are you really going to treat me like this?"
A beautiful woman, dressed in magnificent attire, wept bitterly before a man standing sideways. This woman was voluptuous, adorned with a golden crown and exquisite jewelry; her unique bearing clearly indicated she had long held a high position. Yet now, her expression was one of despair, her eyes filled with hatred, regret, and resentment.
“I’ve said it before, Fernana is the bottom line. Anyone who tries to harm her will have to pay the price!”
The man turned around, his pharaoh's headdress clearly visible. His expression was resolute and cold; anyone being looked at by him felt as if they were unknowingly placed on a gallows, their lives hanging in the balance.
Xiang Wan was startled and immediately took a step back, trying to find a place to hide. But the two men acted as if they hadn't seen her at all, completely ignoring her.
She cautiously reached out and waved her hand back and forth between the two people, but received no response. This time, she was completely relieved. Since she couldn't see her, she might as well watch the show—a real, 3D version, no less! It couldn't be more exciting.
Looking around, trying to find a place to sit and enjoy the view, she suddenly realized she seemed to have heard a familiar name—Fen'erna. Holy crap, could she have transmigrated again? Did she die in her sleep and the system dump her in ancient Egypt?
Before he could think further, the man, who was none other than the Pharaoh, summoned his guards, who then took his wife away, one on each side.
"Arafat, in this world, I am the only one who truly loves you. Kill me, and you will never find true love!"
The Pharaoh didn't answer, so indifferent he wouldn't even spare a glance. Xiang Wan despised this kind of person the most—abandoning his wife for a mistress. No matter the reason, he shouldn't be so heartless to his former bedmate.
She circled the Pharaoh named Arafat several times, scoffing and complaining. He wasn't even that good-looking; aside from being tall and having fierce eyes, and being a Pharaoh, he had absolutely no charm. How could so many women be so eager to be with him? Was it his status? Well, that alone was enough to drive people crazy.
Looking at the pharaoh with a critical eye, she found fault with everything about him. Remembering the story the system had told her, she knew this man was ruthless and cruel, suited to a romance novel. She just wondered what Fenrina, who had captivated him, looked like.
"Xiao Qi, where does Fen Erna live?"
She was eager to see the most beautiful woman in the world, but received no response from the system. Had it gone into hibernation again? She called out several more times, even cursing, but still received no reaction from the system. She was a little confused. She had long been used to the system's company, even if it was unreliable, it was still familiar. Its sudden disappearance made Xiang Wan a little panicked.
