"Quickly take out that hollowed-out ball."
Hearing the system quickly finish speaking, she began chanting the incantation again. While her mouth was busy, her hands deftly flipped the small ball out and held it in her palm.
"So it was in your hands. No wonder, hahaha, I accept my fate today."
Liu Zijue stopped struggling and was instantly covered by the golden water, gradually submerging to the bottom of the pool. Guo Ziqi struggled for a while, then gradually fell silent. After a short while, two small, orange-yellow orbs of light rose from the pool, swaying as they flew towards the hollowed-out sphere and entered the glowing object in the center.
Immediately afterwards, a bright, eerie light shone forth, and the hollowed-out sphere seemed to come alive, rising from her palm and floating in the air. Scenes appeared one after another in the air, some ancient, some modern, some depicting people and objects, finally settling on the faces of the couple, smiling as they gazed at Xiang Wan.
"Xiao Qi, what should we do next?"
“Open the Book of the Dead, there’s a resurrection spell in it. I said, just repeat it after me.”
Xiang Wan, unsuspecting, quickly took out the book, laid it out on the ground, and flipped through it page by page, asking the system if it had been found. The text in this book was like gibberish to Xiang Wan; she was dizzy just looking at it, let alone reading it.
The system kept recording, and only said "Okay" when it turned to the last page. Xiang Wan was starting to suspect that the system had made her turn the page just to copy the contents of the book.
"We must act swiftly to revive the couple and then take them away; we cannot linger here."
"good!"
With the help of the system, Xiang Wan recited the tongue-twisting incantation that 007 had been chanting, word by word. As if by magic, with each word she uttered, the light of the golden ball dimmed a little.
"All things have a spirit, and they are mutually reinforcing and mutually restraining. Cause and effect cycle endlessly. With the souls of Liu Zijue and Guo Ziqi as a sacrifice, we will bring back the souls of Wu Xun and Qian Li. Return, wandering souls, and go back to the right path!"
Xiang Wan actually understood the last part. Instantly, the light inside the hollowed-out sphere dimmed, and the couple on the altar exhaled a breath of stale air.
"There's no time. Get them out of here quickly."
The system's tone had never been so urgent, startling Xiang Wan. She didn't have time to put the heavy book away again; instead, she picked up the small, hollowed-out ball that had fallen to the ground and went to help the couple, wanting to get them away as soon as possible.
"Wan'er, are you my Wan'er?"
Qian Li looked at Xiang Wan, tears welling in her eyes, her expression extremely agitated. Wu Xun, standing beside her, also stared intently at her, a torrent of emotions churning within him.
"Yes, it's me. I've come to find you. Are you still able to walk? We need to leave as soon as possible."
"How did you get in? Aren't we already dead?"
"There's no time to explain, come with me now."
Xiang Wan slung her backpack over her shoulder and pulled them toward the door of the secret chamber. Before they even reached the door, they saw the Pharaoh, wearing a mask and holding a staff, slowly walking toward them.
"This is—the Pharaoh? How is he still alive?" Qian Li asked in disbelief.
"Could it be because of us?" Wu Xun said in a deep voice. He took two steps forward and blocked them behind him. "We'll play it by ear. If we get a chance, we'll run. Don't worry about me."
"No, we'll go together."
Qian Li stepped forward and stood with Wu Xun.
"I know another way, come with me."
Xiang Wan grabbed the couple's wrists and led them towards the Golden Water Pool. That secret passage would allow the three of them to escape.
They ran to the edge of the pool, but for some reason, the water inside seemed to be boiling, constantly bubbling and churning. The three dared not linger and carefully walked along the edge of the pool toward the secret passage.
As the Pharaoh drew closer, he paused briefly beside his own coffin before continuing toward Xiang Wan. With his approach, the pool of water boiled more violently, constantly changing shape, from initially forming faces, hands, and shoulders, to later upper bodies, as if many people were trapped there, trying to break free and climb out.
Qian Li's face turned pale, and her hand supporting Xiang Wan trembled. With a sudden pull, she almost dragged Xiang Wan into the pool. Wu Xun, who was behind her, saw this scene and felt both lewd and nervous.
"We're almost there, be careful not to fall."
As Xiang Wan spoke, she stepped into the narrow passage she had come from, squeezing in sideways. Qian Li and Wu Xun followed suit, moving sideways as they entered, and soon they reached the top of the spiral staircase.
Seeing the outstretched hand, Xiang Wan placed the hollowed-out ball on it, and then heard a series of stone steps extending from the stone wall. The three of them climbed up one after another, finally reaching the secret chamber where she slept. They pushed the stone door shut, and the hollowed-out ball miraculously appeared in the stone cave below. Xiang Wan picked it up and put it in her pocket.
She could still hear considerable noise from the hole she had entered through; the lizards were still there. The three of them circled the secret chamber several times but found no other exit, so they had to sit down and rest for a while.
Qian Li and Wu Xun sat on either side of Xiang Wan, heads bowed and silent. Xiang Wan wanted to find something to talk about, but for a moment she didn't know what to say first. The atmosphere became extremely awkward, which infuriated the system.
"Hurry up and ask! What does the original owner want to know? Ask it now!"
"It's not too late to ask outside," Xiang Wan said unhurriedly.
The system was almost frantic. "With your current physical strength, there's a high chance you won't be able to get out. You'd better hurry up and do what you need to do. In case anything unexpected happens, this system can take your soul with it."
