There was a small protrusion under the bed, close to the wall. Pressing it in, a flap sank down directly beneath the bed, revealing a straight downward passage that seemed to be deeper than a person. Upon hearing the sound, Xiang Wan quickly secured her limbs to the sides to prevent herself from falling.
Suddenly, the man attacked, kicking her in the head. Xiang Wan dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the kick. Just as she dodged, she felt her leg being forcefully stomped down, one foot already dangling in the air, half her body about to fall. Her injured arm couldn't exert much force, making it extremely difficult to support her entire weight with only one hand and one foot.
Xiang Wan shrank under the bed. If the man wanted to attack again, he would have to come under the bed. Xiang Wan simply turned her body over, put her arms on the inside of the passage, and stretched her dangling leg to the other side. When the man attacked again, she grabbed his ankle and sank into the passage, hanging upside down on the outside of the passage with only her two feet.
The man had one foot firmly held by Xiang Wan, while the other foot supported his weight. He clung to the edge of the bed with both hands to prevent Xiang Wan from pulling him off.
Xiang Wan knew the human body's acupoints by heart. After grabbing one of his feet, she used one hand to press the numb veins on his leg. The man cried out in pain, unable to use his leg, and freed his other hand to grab Xiang Wan. Xiang Wan grabbed his wrist with her other hand, and with her other hand, she pulled an animal tooth from her clothes and plunged it into his abdomen.
The man shuddered, shoved Xiang Wan away, grabbed the edge of the bed with both hands, lay down straight, and kicked his legs toward Xiang Wan with them dangling in the air.
Caught off guard, Xiang Wan was kicked in the chest and felt a sharp pain. She quickly pulled out her dagger and stabbed it into his ankle, causing blood to spurt out.
Driven by a surge of rage, the man disregarded his injured leg and used it to deflect Xiang Wan's dagger aside, while simultaneously kicking her in the abdomen with his other foot. A direct hit would be fatal or severely injure her. Xiang Wan decisively released her grip on the dagger and jerked her upper body up, landing squarely on his kick. Using the force, she propelled herself out of the passageway and rolled out from under the bed.
Taking advantage of the moment, the man escaped his suspended state, slowly stood up, ignoring the dagger still stuck in his ankle.
She quickly stood up, took out a few more teeth and placed them in her palm. With a few swift movements, she threw them like projectiles. The first one hit his arm, the second one was dodged but embedded deeply in the wall behind him.
Having no other weapons on her, Xiang Wan asked while assuming a defensive stance, "Do you know me?"
With a "pui" sound, the man spat out a mouthful of saliva, and when he looked up again, his eyes revealed a sharp edge.
In their second encounter, Xiang Wan was no longer afraid of him. The man had been injured in two places by her, and he couldn't do anything to her for the time being.
If the people who came to arrest her were sent by the Zhao family, then they certainly weren't from her department. The original owner of this body was exceptionally skilled, virtually unmatched in the Ten Departments. This person knew about her from the beginning, and her fighting ability was no less than hers, so why didn't he attack first, instead choosing to mislead her first?
After fighting for quite some time, the commotion had become considerable, but no one came from outside. Xiang Wan feigned an attack, then flipped over and jumped out the window, running away. The man followed closely behind.
Despite dodging and weaving along the village's paths, the man remained relentless.
Despite being injured, she was still fighting so desperately; Xiang Wan wasn't going to go head-to-head with someone who didn't value their life. She climbed over every window she saw and opened every door she encountered, but didn't find a single person left behind. Just as she was wondering where everyone had gone, she heard a noise ahead.
She slipped into a house and saw a woman huddled trembling in a corner. Xiang Wan grabbed her, pointed at the door, and hissed, "Run! Someone's coming!"
The woman, unsuspecting, stood up and ran outside. Xiang Wan leaped onto the roof beam, pressing her body tightly against it, holding her breath.
A moment later, the person who had been chasing him jumped in. After scanning the room, he heard running sounds outside and gave chase.
He'd be back in no time. Xiang Wan didn't dare delay, immediately jumping off the roof beam and running to the other side. Passing the storeroom, she grabbed a kitchen knife and then jumped onto the beam of the adjacent room.
That man is relentlessly pursuing her; he's probably determined to kill her. If possible, it would be best to capture him, torture him severely, and hopefully find out who's behind it all.
Just as Xiang Wan hid, she saw the man return, searching around warily. Xiang Wan silently counted in her mind, watching the man approach step by step, three steps, two steps, Xiang Wan suddenly leaped up and pounced on the man from above.
The man rolled over, his clothes ripped apart by Xiang Wan's cleaver. The two grappled again, exchanging blows for several rounds. Xiang Wan gradually became familiar with his tactics, deliberately creating an opening, and seizing the moment he attacked, she slashed his arm with her cleaver, blood immediately staining his clothes.
Seeing the situation was dire, the man tried to escape, but it was too late. Xiang Wan pressed her advantage, slashing him left and right, leaving numerous wounds on his body. The man's movements gradually became more difficult, and in one moment, unable to dodge, he was struck in the back by Xiang Wan's blade, collapsing to the ground, unable to get up.
"To die like this would be too easy for him." Xiang Wan removed the cloth from his face, tore it into two strips, and used them to tie his hands and feet. Then she applied pressure to various points on his body to immobilize him, and applied pressure to stop the bleeding before turning him over.
This man had thick eyebrows, big eyes, and high cheekbones; in modern times, he would definitely be considered a tough guy. It's a pity he became an assassin.
To prevent him from breaking free of the cloth strips and escaping, Xiang Wan thought for a moment, then took off his belt and tied it around his hands and feet again.
After finishing, I took a chair, sat in front of him, put one foot on his chest, pinched the sides of his mouth with one hand, and took a kitchen knife with the other hand and patted his face.
"Can't wait any longer, huh? You want to end my life, so you send a shrimp instead. Your leader is really useless."
Even after being taken prisoner, the man remained expressionless, his eyes not even flickering.
"Tell me, should I cut off your ears first, or your nose? Look at your face, you're not bad looking at all, quite attractive to women. If you become ugly, no one will want to see you anymore."
The man snorted coldly, his death-defying demeanor igniting Xiang Wan's anger. He had almost cost her her life, and now that he was in her hands, she had plenty of ways to make him talk.
Men, especially tough men, are fearless and ready to face death, seemingly unafraid of anything, but they always have weaknesses, whether psychological or physical.
In the first interrogation, probe him first, find his weaknesses, slowly break down his psychological defenses, and then deliver the fatal blow. I don't believe we can't pry his mouth open.
Thinking about it this way, Xiang Wan was starting to look forward to it.
