After quickly finishing speaking, Xiang Wan retreated rapidly, throwing the bottle of water she was carrying towards the Holy Lord. She dodged the attacks of several thugs and retreated all the way to Shi Di's back, loudly saying, "Reporting to the Lord, the mission is complete, and we can proceed to the next step."
Some of the people around were clueless about what had happened and just wanted to find a safe place to observe the situation, while others began to slowly gather around Shi Di, as if they had some grand scheme.
The Holy Lord caught the bottle Xiang Wan threw at him, glanced at it, and then smashed it to the ground. Instantly, the sound of drums came from somewhere, and many people rushed over with weapons. Xiang Wan cupped her hands to Shi Di and took the lead in attacking the Holy Lord, not forgetting to draw aggro before acting: "My Lord, if we don't act now, we'll fail."
St. D. seemed to have thought of something, his hands clenching tightly. Seeing more and more people entering, he decisively waved his hand, and the rest of the group rushed towards the leader of the Holy Sun Cult with Xiang Wan. But the leader wouldn't be so easily subdued by the crowd. He suddenly exerted his strength, attacking the person with the lowest combat power, and actually punched that person into the wall. Those nearby couldn't dodge in time and were knocked to the ground.
Xiang Wan feigned an attack, and after exchanging blows with the cult leader a few times, deliberately lost and turned to fight the other thugs. In an instant, the secret room was filled with fighters, including Shi Di. However, those who attacked him were just small fry, and they were quickly knocked to the ground.
In a battle between masters, small fry fall in droves. Before long, only Shi Di and the cult leader remained standing in the middle. The two stared at each other for a moment, then both prepared to attack, fighting fiercely and evenly matched.
Xiang Wan ran to the very edge, sparring with others while observing the situation. She noticed that the rabbit mask, which had initially been fighting the rat pattern, was now gone. The rat pattern, meanwhile, was quietly trying to slip away along the wall.
If not now, when? As the fight continued, Xiang Wan left the secret room and followed the rat pattern.
Many people ran towards this place along the way. Xiang Wan tried to avoid them if possible, and if she couldn't avoid them, she would knock them unconscious. The rat pattern dodged left and right, and finally arrived at a room on the bottom floor, where it searched everywhere.
As dusk approached, he saw the room filled with unidentified instruments, some resembling guns, others bows and arrows, and still others with colorful glass spheres attached to their ends. He wondered what they were for. The rat-shaped object rummaged around, yet carefully avoided these unknown objects.
After searching for a long time without finding anything with the rat pattern, he continued to look around, finally fixing his gaze on the table in the middle of the room. He saw several manuscripts on it, carefully put them away, and kept them close to his body before heading out.
With lightning speed, Xiang Wan circled behind him and snapped his neck. This man had been collecting children to supply the so-called leader of the Holy Sun Cult; his crimes were heinous, and he deserved to die. Xiang Wan took the object from his chest, glanced at it, and it appeared to be a blueprint. Since this man had gone to such lengths to obtain it, it must be for something important. Xiang Wan put the blueprint into her own pocket, looked around the room, and felt that something was amiss.
In a normal room, no matter how much stuff you have, there's always a window. But this was a basement; where was the window? She slowly walked to the window, reached out and pulled, but it wouldn't budge. She pushed hard, but still nothing. After thinking carefully for a moment, she took out a dagger and pried along the window frame. With a click, the window opened outwards from the middle. Inside, she saw two elderly men lying on the bed, barely breathing; she could only hear them exhaling, not inhaling.
The place was extremely small; besides the bed, there was almost only a passageway for walking. The two elderly men, their heads pressed together, had gray hair but youthful faces. They were probably a couple, imprisoned here for some unknown reason.
As Xiang Wan slowly approached, looking at their faces, she felt a pang of panic. She reached out and took the pulses of both elderly men; their pulses were steady and calm, indicating they were simply unconscious. She breathed a sigh of relief, unsure of what to do next.
Judging from their appearance, they certainly didn't want to stay here, but it would probably take more than one person to rescue them.
While they hesitated, one of them slowly woke up. He was a little surprised to see Xiang Wan beside him, but then turned his head away without caring.
"Grandpa, what are you doing here?"
"You can talk?"
The old man who had just woken up looked at Xiang Wan in surprise. Her voice was very young, completely unlike someone who was old. After her initial astonishment, she muttered to herself, "What tricks is that devil up to now? I've already said no, and there's no point in forcing me."
After saying all that, she lay down and tried to sleep again.
"You've misunderstood, I'm not from here."
"Hmph, don't try to fool me. This is not a place you can just come to as you please."
"There's a reason for this. Sir, I..."
"Hurry, hurry, don't let them get away."
There were hurried footsteps outside the door. Xiang Wan quickly got up and tried to run outside.
"Quick, hide down here."
The old woman pointed under the bed and told Xiang Wan to hide there. Xiang Wan stared into her eyes for a while, and for some reason, she wanted to believe her, so she quickly crawled under the bed.
After concealing himself, he heard someone outside the window say, "Report, the window has been opened."
"Useless! If you can't hold this place, we'll both be dead. Luckily, everyone's still alive. Go outside and keep watch, don't let anyone escape."
"yes!"
The window was closed again, but just to be safe, Xiang Wan did not climb out immediately.
