Chapter 212 Mysterious Background (Part 20)

Having witnessed so many lives and deaths across so many worlds, Xiang Wan didn't know what to think this time. They claimed to be the original owner's parents, and said some ambiguous things. Now that they were dead, the remaining issues still needed to be resolved.

The deceased were gone, and Xiang Wan placed them on the bed in the inner room, sealing the secret chamber as their final resting place. The things left for her, along with instructions, were specifically for dealing with those insects, as well as various hidden weapons and ammunition. She took these, opened the door, and went out.

When people tried to stop her, Xiang Wan became ruthless, killing most of them. Along the way, she released those being held captive, letting them escape. She stumbled upon a workshop and went inside. The sight disgusted her; she never wanted to experience it again: several meat grinders were running incessantly, human remains piled up beside them, and at the other end was a pool of blood. The minced food was poured into the blood pool, where worms thrashed about. Nets were used to scoop the worms out and put them into another machine to be ground. The final product was the food that the veiled people had received upon entering.

These things smell terrible. If those people didn't lack noses, they wouldn't eat them. Or perhaps they are dependent on these things, which is why they keep consuming them.

She couldn't let these things remain any longer. She looked around, found the four corners of the ceiling, and fired a small melee weapon at each. Then she fired a drill with a rope attached to it in the center. She then tied them all to the mixer and started the machine. The rope pulled the drill downwards with force. There was a series of cracking sounds, and cracks began to appear at the top. Then, with a loud crash, the entire ceiling collapsed from above, completely burying the area.

She continued walking in other places, destroying whatever she saw, and even found others along the way doing the same kind of destruction. Some people were even fighting, but Shi Di and Feng Yulian's group were nowhere to be seen.

As they continued upwards, they unexpectedly ran into an acquaintance—the one with the eagle tribe's insignia. He showed no surprise at seeing Xiang Wan, simply saying, "Follow me," and led the way.

Xiang Wan prepared her hidden weapon and followed him at a safe distance. Finally, they reached the top floor, where she saw a monitoring room with a clear view of everything. Xiang Wan's heart skipped a beat; she had completely forgotten about this on the way here. It was understandable that she couldn't see clearly because of the veil, but without caution, she could be discovered and killed at any moment. She didn't know why this man had brought her here, so she leaped to the door and asked warily, "What do you want?"

"You didn't actually believe what those two people said, did you?"

As he spoke, the man removed his mask, revealing himself to be the one named Su San. Without any apparent suspicion, he set the mask aside, half-operating the surveillance cameras, and said, "Everything I said is true. I really did come looking for my sister, but unfortunately, she doesn't recognize me. My sister didn't just disappear a couple of days ago; she was kidnapped as a child and sold into the Zhao family to work as an assassin. She has a mole on her chest and a scar on her buttocks. If you still don't believe me, you can have it verified by an authoritative institution after you get out."

"Sigh, the Zhao family is truly foolish. They have such advanced technology but choose to train assassins specializing in cold weapons—they're so outdated! Recently, they've even started believing in witchcraft and sorcery, supporting such a heinous church. It would be truly unjust if they weren't wiped out."

"What do you mean?"

"Look, this is our Su family joining forces with other aristocratic families to besiege the so-called Holy Sun Cult. After a few cannon shots, they won't even leave a mosquito leg behind."

What will happen to those women and children?

"They are long dead. The babies in those pregnant women's wombs are not babies at all, but a combination of worms and babies, which are extremely prolific. If they are allowed to come out, it will truly be the end of humanity."

Why didn't you say so sooner?

"We just met, do you believe me?"

"Do you think I'd believe you right now? You're a habitual liar."

"Okay, I'm not kidding when I say I'll destroy this place. In about ten minutes, we won't be able to stay here any longer. Got the guts to fly with me?"

Xiang Wan looked at the screen and indeed saw countless tanks and cannons surrounding the area, with people waving flags, ready to raze the place to the ground at any moment.

"The culprit has not yet been caught."

"Oh, you still care about this? Have you ever seen a vicious person die so easily? Next time you arrest someone, you'll have a witness."

Xiang Wan felt a deep sense of frustration; it seemed as if she wasn't completing a mission in any of these worlds. Su San took out two flying squirrel suits and handed one to Xiang Wan. The size was perfect, as if it had been prepared in advance.

"Jump when you're ready."

Before she could ask any questions, Su San jumped out of the window first. Outside was a sheer cliff; looking down, she felt dizzy and about to fall. Watching the health video, she saw the people inside were just a wave of their hands away from firing. Xiang Wan gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and jumped.

The whistling wind blew in her ears, making it hard for Xiang Wan to open her eyes. Every time she opened her mouth, the wind filled her mouth, so she simply pursed her lips and spread her limbs to drift with the wind.

After drifting for about half a minute, I heard a series of booming sounds overhead. The mountaintop had been blasted, and debris was flying everywhere. I opened my eyes to try and see what was happening, but the wind blew my eyes dry, and I couldn't see anything clearly.

Suddenly something was shoved over my head—a pair of goggles. One hand was gripped tightly, and I was thrown to the side by a shift in my body.

Xiang Wan turned her head and saw that Su San had come to her side at some point. When he saw her looking over, he smiled at her and blew her a mouthful of wind.

After floating for two or three minutes, Su San suddenly came over and hugged her waist. Then Xiang Wan felt their bodies jerk backward at the same time, and their downward speed rapidly decreased.

After they landed, the parachute covered them both, and people nearby came to help open it. A middle-aged man walked over and said, "Don't delay, come with me quickly. We need to catch them off guard, otherwise we'll all be for nothing."

Su San whispered to Xiang Wan, "He is your father, the real one. Go with him, and you'll find all the answers."

Xiang Wan glanced at Su San, then at the middle-aged man, wondering what they were talking about. The middle-aged man's expression was very serious, revealing nothing from his demeanor.

A mountain armored vehicle pulled up beside them. Su San pulled Xiang Wan into the vehicle, and the middle-aged man didn't say anything. He sat in the passenger seat and the vehicle slowly drove forward.

Xiang Wan had never felt so distressed. The road ahead remained shrouded in mystery, and since the system was unwilling to elaborate, she simply let it be. Now it seemed there was something she didn't know. She decided to close her eyes for a while; perhaps a better show was yet to come.
