Chapter 252 The Apocalypse: Clinging to the Villain's Thigh (Part Fourteen)

"How do you know I won't accept it if you don't tell me?"

Xiang Wan's voice was very soft, so soft that it could only be heard when you were close to her lips.

An fell silent, her gaze towards Xiang Wan hesitant, as if she were struggling.

"An, I want to understand you. I wasn't a part of your past, but you won't be alone in the future."

“…Fine! If you change your mind,” An Ding stared intently at Xiang Wan, his eyes filled with a suffocating madness, “then you’ll come to hell with me!”

"Okay!" Xiang Wan smiled gently. Her life in this world was destined to be tied to his, so what was there that she couldn't accept?

An calmed down, released Xiang Wan's hand, and sat down on the edge of the bed facing her. He raised his hand and touched the edge of his mask with his fingertips. After a long while, he said, "It all started with this face."

With a gentle pull, An hooked the elastic band of her mask, revealing her true face: upturned, almond-shaped eyes, a beautifully shaped nose, delicate, thin, red lips, and a delicate, pretty face. Her melancholic, deep eyes were captivating; anyone who saw her would be mesmerized. Such a face was neither clearly feminine nor masculine; on a woman, she would be an absolute beauty, and on a man, she would be breathtakingly handsome. If An didn't speak, men would be smitten, women would be drawn to her looks—who would care about her gender? After all, everyone loves beautiful things, doesn't they?

After watching for a while, Xiang Wan said with a mixture of appreciation and regret, "Thank goodness!"

"Hmm?" An frowned, looking somewhat displeased.

"I've been wondering what kind of face Ann looks like under her mask. Now it seems it's better to wear a mask, otherwise, I'm afraid I won't be able to resist..."

An kept looking into Xiang Wan's eyes, which held nothing but initial amazement. He felt a sense of relief; he hadn't made a mistake in choosing her. But for some reason, a feeling of unease welled up inside him. Perhaps it was because Xiang Wan's actions and words were completely inconsistent. "Hmph, what a hypocrite!"

This performance pleased An, and he stared blankly, lost in his memories.

"Ever since I can remember, the way people looked at me made me very uncomfortable. I never studied properly; I was always either taking photos here or trying on clothes there. Those two people squandered the money I earned, never caring what I thought."

When I was sick, they complained about how many opportunities I had missed to make money. They bought me medicine and made me take it myself. As long as I could walk, I never had a break. They took me to all sorts of places and all kinds of disgusting scenes. At that time, because I was young, I thought that as long as I behaved well, I could get their attention. I numbly accepted all of this, knowing that it would be useless to refuse, but I still held onto a sliver of hope.

When I was ten, they abandoned me with an old man. They had one foot in the grave, yet they wanted to… When I saw the old man's malicious eyes, I was terrified. I ran and screamed for my life, but no one came to save me. Do you know that kind of despair? I felt like a grain of sand abandoned by the whole world, small and helpless.

I pushed that wrinkled old man down the stairs. I called the police myself, and hid in a corner, trembling. People pitied me, thinking the old man had accidentally fallen to his death. That was the first time I'd killed someone; there was no hesitation, no more cowardice. In that moment, I realized I could be so strong.

An smiled softly, a smile that was both relieved and heavy. Xiang Wan was at a loss for words. Such a young child wouldn't have taken that final step unless he was utterly desperate. She reached out and gently grasped his hand; the cool touch held a warm, moist warmth. She knew that An wasn't as nonchalant as he appeared.

An clenched his fist, gave a self-deprecating laugh, and continued, "You have no idea how much effort I put in to make those two pay the price. I convinced them to buy high-value accidental death insurance, and then they died from carbon monoxide poisoning."

The insurance company tried to avoid paying compensation by citing my young age. My teacher hired a lawyer for me, and I won the case.

My teacher, gentle and refined, knowledgeable and courteous, made me feel cared for for the first time in my life. His daughter would always find various excuses to visit me, bringing me food and buying me clothes.

The year I graduated from university, he recommended me to his lab, where I studied genes. I thought I could finally live a normal life, and I planned to confess my feelings to his daughter. But the night before I was to confess, he found me and said I could no longer get close to his daughter because she wasn't a woman at all; she was just a test subject for his genetic experiments. Everything about her was given to her by him, and she had no right to be with anyone else without his permission. Moreover, she was originally his wife, but he had erased her memories and changed her age.

Ha, how ridiculous, that such a thing actually happened to him, that great scientist who prided himself on contributing to humanity. He told me that I was his exclusive property, and from the moment he came near me, he would never allow anyone else to touch me, not even his wife.

He injected me with a drug that would forever keep me young. His wife, because she resisted, was turned into a specimen and frozen in ice.

I had no way to escape; I didn't know when he drugged me... Later, I learned to disguise myself, to flatter, to master all his skills, and finally, I used his experimental results on myself. He will never die, and he will never live.

The experimental facility was so large, and so many people were fully aware of his actions, yet they all chose to turn a blind eye. So, I implanted the newly developed virus into one of the people. Since the world is so cruel, let me change it!
