Chapter 26 Cinderella's Comeback (Twenty-Six)

By midnight, Xiang Wan was finally unable to stay awake any longer, and her eyelids drooped.

Is there any movement inside?

As evening approached, he was half asleep when he heard a hushed voice coming from the doorway. Startled, he immediately snapped awake.

"They're probably asleep. Is Master preparing to make his move now?"

"We can't wait any longer. We need to send them out of the city first thing tomorrow morning. We'll grab these two last today, so keep a close eye on them. If anything happens, you'll be in serious trouble."

"yes."

The footsteps faded into the distance. Xiang Wan was so frightened that she didn't dare to breathe, her whole body tense. At this moment, she envied Xiang Xia. If she were asleep like Xiang Xia, she wouldn't be so afraid.

After a while, footsteps sounded again, and she heard the window next to her being gently lifted. A bamboo tube was inserted, and in the moonlight, Xiang Wan seemed to see a wisp of smoke slowly drifting out of the tube. She quickly held her breath. After the window was closed again, she quickly took out the handkerchief that had been soaked with wine she had vomited on earlier and covered her mouth and nose.

Xiang Xia's breathing gradually slowed down, and Xiang Wan knew that Xiang Xia had been affected. It seemed that the smoke was some kind of sleeping powder or similar substance that could cause unconsciousness.

Hearing the door open, Xiang Wan immediately tucked the handkerchief into her sleeve and pretended to be asleep. Her breathing gradually slowed down, but her heartbeat wouldn't calm down.

Fearing that these people would discover her and she might fall into their trap again, she cursed under her breath, "Damn system, 007 bastard," before being silenced by the system.

After confirming that no sound would be made, Xiang Wan breathed a slight sigh of relief, and her heartbeat gradually calmed down.

A calloused hand patted her and Xiang Xia's cheeks, called their names a few more times, and when there was no response, turned around and went out to call someone over to carry them on their shoulders.

"Hurry up, you two clean up all the traces here, don't let anyone find out."

A man lowered his voice and urged the burly man carrying them to walk quickly outside.

Xiang Wan was carried on her shoulder, her stomach was churning uncomfortably. Luckily, she couldn't make a sound or move around, so she just rolled her eyes to look around.

The burly man stopped at the entrance to Madam Liu's hall. Madam Liu seemed to touch something, and a door appeared in the wall directly opposite the entrance. Madam Liu lit a lamp and went inside, followed closely by herself and Xiang Xia, who were being carried.

The lights were dim and she couldn't see clearly. She only felt herself being carried and turned to the right, then spiraling downwards step by step.

After about twenty steps, they reached flat ground. They walked forward for a long time, until Xiang Wan was so shaken that she almost threw up, before finally stopping.

"Put it here, and it'll be transported away first thing tomorrow morning."

As soon as Madam Liu finished speaking, the burly man placed Xiang Wan on the straw-covered ground. Xiang Wan had already closed her eyes the moment the man stopped. Judging from the sound, it seemed that Xiang Xia had also been placed on the straw, not far from her.

"Alright, go back and change your clothes so no one notices anything amiss."

Upon hearing this, the two burly men turned back along the path they had come from. Madam Liu, holding a candle, looked around and gradually walked away as well.

Xiang Wan listened with her eyes closed for a while, and after confirming that no one was around, she sat up and rubbed her stomach, which was feeling nauseous. After calming down a bit, she stayed in place for a while before feeling her way along the wall towards where Xiang Xia had been laid down.

It was a basement, completely dark, and the straw was a little damp. She first helped Xiang Xia sit up against the wall, patted her cheeks, and pinched her arm, but couldn't wake her up. Xiang Xia had inhaled a lot of smoke, and it seemed she wouldn't wake up anytime soon, so she had no choice but to lay her down and sit beside her, trying to think of a solution.
