Chapter 274 Not Cannon Fodder (Sixteen)

Knowing that the master was a swordsman, Xiang Wan dared not be careless. She kept her eyes fixed on him, trying to predict which move he would make by observing his hand movements.

Before challenging the pros to a duel, Xiang Wan had done her homework. There were many videos of pros fighting others online, but they were all quite old, with almost no recent ones. Most of the people recording these videos were observing from a bystander's perspective, only showing the gist of the moves, with the rest being flashy effects.

In previous videos, the most frequently used move by the master swordsman was "Thorn Cutting", which is known for its speed and usually results in a one-hit kill. However, the operation is extremely complicated and the skill requires practice, so very few swordsmen can master this technique.

Comparing the pro player's several matches, it's clear that the speed at which he executes these skills is getting faster and faster, and his other techniques like thrusting, slashing, chopping, and stabbing are becoming increasingly proficient. However, I haven't seen any more of his videos since then; I don't know if no one is recording them or if something came up.

Xiang Wan dared not be careless. Judging from the fact that the master had always been able to maintain the number one position on the PK leaderboard, he was never short of opponents. It was just that no one recorded videos and uploaded them anymore, so his mystery in the public eye had risen to another level.

Since the last time his PK video was publicly shared by onlookers, the pro player hasn't had any videos released for almost half a year. He hasn't appeared in the game, but his legend is everywhere. Some even say he's an NPC, created by the game company to increase the difficulty for players. This caused quite a stir recently, and the game company even issued a statement to deny it. Even so, the pro player hasn't shown up.

The general public is always very interested in this kind of thing, and some amateur experts have even written articles analyzing the pros' combat techniques. Xiang Wan just glanced at them and let it go; generally, these self-proclaimed experts are mostly just trying to attract attention. Real experts usually focus on improving their own skills or finding opportunities for one-on-one duels.

The master was dressed in ordinary clothes, not wearing the legendary Heavenly Armor, but only carrying his usual god-level weapon, a sword.

Xiang Wan's equipment wasn't top-tier, except for her dagger, which she had crafted at great expense. As an assassin, she always prioritized her weapon. It seems the master and she shared the same thoughts.

With a raised arm, the great god vanished from his spot in a flash. Xiang Wan immediately rolled to the side and leaped forward a few steps, only to see a flash of sword light behind her, nearly piercing her back.

Before the opponent's sword momentum could be fully unleashed, Xiang Wan launched an attack. As she threw the dagger over, she leaped over the god's head and caught the thrown dagger.

I never expected the dagger to actually harm the master; it was just a feint to get closer. After all, if an assassin doesn't choose close combat, and fights the master again, they probably won't have a chance to strike.

The expert quickly reacted and turned to counterattack. Both sides tacitly refrained from using the fancy moves set by the system, opting instead for real close-quarters combat, much to the delight of the onlookers.

Gradually, more and more people entered the challenge area, and eventually there wasn't enough room. The game company even opened a special window to satisfy everyone's curiosity.

Xiang Wan's live stream room was packed with people—leaving comments, giving rewards, offering encouragement, and cracking jokes. Often, before a word could even finish displaying, it would be bumped up by someone else. The computer used for the live stream gradually overheated, and the screen began to freeze. If Xiang Wan had seen this, she would have been amazed at her own foresight.

Concentrating solely on the battle, she had no time for anything outside of the PK. The master's skills were truly exceptional. From positioning and control to timing and opportunity, everything was perfectly executed. Xiang Wan hadn't encountered such a formidable opponent in a long time. Completely focused on the fight, she unknowingly found herself at the PK's designated end time.

When the NPC announced the end of the challenge, both Da Shen and Xiang Wan paused simultaneously, reluctantly retracting their attacks. Xiang Wan bowed slightly to her opponent with a hint of regret, sheathed her weapon, and planned to challenge him again tomorrow.

Before she could even leave, she heard a system notification for a friend request. She opened her friend list and saw an unfamiliar number wanting to add her. She hesitated for a moment, then saw two words float above the "expert's" head—"I'll add!"

Xiang Wan didn't dare to delay and quickly clicked "accept," only to see a new character named "Pikachu" appear in her friend list.

"A master?"

Xiang Wan sent a private message with some uncertainty, and saw that the other party had responded.

"Um?"

Xiang Wan suddenly didn't know what to say. To ask her to express admiration for an opponent who had been elevated to godhood by everyone but whose name was so adorably silly was beyond her ability to comprehend. She was already being very polite by not laughing.

Such an amazing player, and they have this name! Still so childlike at heart! So that's why they're anonymous? No wonder it never shows up!

Suddenly thinking about these things, I can't help but laugh. It's hard to believe that a mysterious and powerful figure would remain anonymous for such a reason. It's strangely endearing.

Unbeknownst to Xiang Wan, who was inwardly grumbling, her private message had stirred up a hornet's nest. Her fans watching the live stream paused for a second, then flooded the screen with "hahahaha," nothing more.

Xiang Wan suddenly realized that she was still doing a live stream, and so many people were watching. She wondered if it was too late to block it. She quickly raised her hand and turned the camera to the side.

Another burst of infectious laughter filled the live stream, and the atmosphere immediately changed to this:

"Hey streamer, are your parents aware of how cheeky you are?"

"The streamer is so cute. Am I the only one who thinks the streamer and the pro player are a good match?"

"Same here, you're not alone!"

"They're a perfect match! I strongly urge the streamer and the pro player to get together!"

"Support, let's stand together!"

Then it all changed to three words in unison—"Together!"

They seemed to have forgotten that the pro player was playing a male character, and so was she. Xiang Wan kindly typed a reminder, but the calls for them to be together only grew louder, leaving Xiang Wan utterly exasperated!

Thanks to Xiang Wan, the mysterious atmosphere that the great god had painstakingly created was completely destroyed by her in one move. If nothing unexpected happens, it won't be long before everyone in the server knows what the great god is called. Right now, only he himself doesn't know.

Seeing that the protection settings on the challenge platform were counting down, Xiang Wan decided to send an apology letter to the expert first, and then make a quick getaway as soon as the protection was removed.

Thankfully, the challenge platform can block external communication interference, otherwise she doesn't know if she could have even left the challenge platform, the expert would definitely have torn her apart!

While she was secretly thinking of a solution, the incredibly handsome guy was almost dying of laughter! He slammed his fist on the table until his hand was almost broken, so he couldn't type. He immediately relayed the news from the outside world to the great god, so much so that when the great god learned about this from someone else, his face turned terrifyingly dark.

That guy is incredibly handsome but a total jerk, no doubt about it! But Xiang Wan is absolutely certain that she is innocent. She's just worried about whether she can still challenge the pros in the future.
