Chapter 317 The Serpent Queen's Dilemma (Part 10)

While she was still undecided, Rui reached out, took the money, and went to the shop owner, saying she wanted to open this shop.

His movements were so fast that Xiang Wan didn't even have time to react. When she saw the shopkeeper holding the stone, pondering how to cut it, Xiang Wan quickly ran over, told the shopkeeper to wait a moment, and pulled Rui aside, asking him what he wanted to do.

"It's just a stone. You seem to really like it. Just cut it open. The inside can be used to make some jewelry for you. Your outfit is too plain. How can ordinary things match it?"

So, Rui knew there was something good inside?

Xiang Wan looked at him questioningly, and Rui nodded, pulling her over to let the shopkeeper start cutting.

Xiang Wan didn't know much about Rui's abilities, but the shopkeepers saw them as a team, so they couldn't afford to sabotage them. Oh well, if nothing good came out, it was Rui's snake skin that was lost; they could just find another way to make money.

Xiang Wan stared intently at the stone, looking quite nervous. Rui instructed the shopkeeper to cut it this way, cut it that way, and then make a back-and-forth cut.

The first cut revealed no green color as expected, not even the edge of the jade. Xiang Wan was somewhat disappointed, but Rui still insisted that the shopkeeper cut it according to his wishes.

After cutting it all open, they found no jade at all. The shopkeeper's mouth stretched from ear to ear, and he happily headed to put the snakeskin into storage. Just then, Rui called out, "Wait! Look what this is!"

Rui picked up a scraper and scraped open a piece of the palm-sized stone in his hand. A crystal-clear green light shone out from the stone, resembling a top-grade imperial green jadeite.

Xiang Wan was stunned, and so was the shopkeeper. They rushed over, trying to take the stone from Rui's hands. Rui raised his hand and said loudly, "This is ours. If you want to see it, name your price!"

The shopkeeper stared intently at the item in his hand, so excited he could barely speak: "Great, great, fantastic! You, you wait here, I'll make a call and find you some big clients, I guarantee we'll fetch an astronomical price."

"Wait, let me cut off a piece and keep it for myself. I'll bid on the rest later."

The shopkeeper watched helplessly as Rui cut a small piece off a whole piece of top-quality jadeite. He said with a pained expression, "This is a whole piece! Cutting it makes it imperfect, and it won't fetch a good price. How much less money will we get for this small piece? We should have kept the whole piece and bought another one when we had the money."

“You’re wrong,” Rui said, placing the small piece on the table and putting the large piece into his pocket. “The large piece is for my wife to make jewelry; I’ll sell the small one.”

The shopkeeper's face contorted in shock, as if he'd been struck by lightning. Xiang Wan was utterly speechless. What was Rui thinking? She wanted money, money! Not jewelry or anything like that.

System: Shouldn't the focus be on that 'wife'?

The shopkeeper, in a great hurry, quickly summoned several people, who looked quite imposing. Among them, Xiang Wan recognized one of them; it seemed he had business dealings with the Ye family.

The man was taken aback when he saw Xiang Wan. Before he could speak, Xiang Wan went up to him and said playfully, "Uncle Qian, I am Ye Zhi Qiu from the Ye family. I witnessed your charisma at the last business banquet with my parents, and I still remember it vividly."
