In the quiet cave, apart from Xiang Wan's own breathing, there was nothing else to be heard, not even a whisper of wind.
At this moment, Xiang Wan missed her mother fox's company very much; at least, it kept her from going hungry.
Trapped in the cave for over a month, Xiang Wan was on the verge of death.
She was too small to move the large rock covering the cave entrance, and even her cries sounded weak and feeble.
Lying quietly on the ground, Xiang Wan felt the heat in her body gradually dissipating.
This damn system still says she's not in danger!
If no one comes to rescue her, she will probably starve to death.
In a daze, I seemed to hear footsteps approaching, getting closer and closer.
Xiang Wan strained to open her eyes and shouted with all her might.
The voice was so faint that even she herself had difficulty hearing it.
Xiang Wan tried to stand up with all four legs, but it was in vain.
The stone at the cave entrance was moved aside, and a hand as white as jade reached out and lifted Xiang Wan up completely.
"I never expected it to be a little fox!"
She opened her eyes to find a magnified handsome face less than a foot away.
"Looks like you're still breastfeeding." The person in front of her rubbed her forelegs, held her in their arms, and stroked the downy fur on her body. "I'll take you out for a drink of water."
The first time I went outside, the glaring light made it hard for me to open my eyes.
A bowl of water was placed in front of Xiang Wan, and she stuck out her tongue and licked it vigorously.
Having been hungry for so long, even a drop of water tasted incredibly sweet to Xiang Wan.
Having had her fill of drink, Xiang Wan let out a burp and looked up at the person sitting next to her.
Dressed in pristine white, with her black hair tied back, a smile playing on her lips, and a cool, aloof air about her, she looked every bit the part of a legendary immortal. A jade flute tucked into her waistband, a jade pendant hanging from her waist, and auspicious cloud boots on her feet.
Xiang Wan stared at him wide-eyed in astonishment. A celestial being, and still alive! Her beauty was breathtaking, her temperament outstanding, and most importantly, her eyes were incredibly soothing.
Could this be my benefactor?
Isn't he so handsome? If I could stay by his side, how could I not repay his kindness?
For the sake of her benefactor's good looks, Xiang Wan decided to forgive the system for turning her into an animal this time. If she weren't an animal, how could she stay by his side?
Xiang Wan excitedly pounced on the man's legs, begging for a hug!
Perhaps the fawning on his face was too obvious, because the man chuckled.
Xiang Wan heard herself swallow.
How can there be such a beautiful person in the world? When they smile, it's like hearing the sound of flowers blooming!
She stared blankly at him, forgetting what she was supposed to do, until the beautiful man reached out and stroked her head.
Oh no, I should be more reserved. What if she thinks I'm a lovesick fool and then rejects me?
Xiang Wan buried her head between her two front legs in embarrassment. If she looked any longer, not only would her face turn red, but her whole body would turn red. It was too embarrassing.
"Heh, you little fox, you're really interesting, you even know how to be shy."
With her body off the ground, Xiang Wan was lifted up by both hands, level with his line of sight.
It's even more beautiful up close!
It's just too unfair. Why are there such good-looking people in the world?
Xiang Wan didn't dare to look him in the eye, her eyes darting left and right, refusing to look ahead.
It wasn't that she didn't want to watch, but the other person's laughter was so unsettling that she was afraid she would get a nosebleed.
Xiang Wan was lost in her own thoughts, unaware that her actions were incredibly adorable in the other person's eyes.
"Little fox, since we are destined to meet, from now on, you will follow me."
Xiang Wan stared wide-eyed at the person in front of her in disbelief.
"What, you don't want to?"
Xiang Wan shook her head violently, then nodded vigorously.
I'm willing, I'm willing a thousand times over, please don't go back on your word!
This fox is so small, if I'm not adopted, I'll starve to death or be eaten by other animals. Pack me up and take me away quickly, I don't mind at all! Really!
The shameless Xiang Wan completely forgot that she was a human being.
Now that I've become a fox, I should do my job as a fox. As for being human, I can think about that after I transform into human form.
The other person chuckled softly, a sound that was both pleasant and melodious.
Xiang Wan was captivated. She hoped this wasn't a dream; she hadn't had enough of the beautiful things yet.
"Little fox, you understand what I'm saying, so I won't waste my breath. From today onwards, you are my pet, and my name is Xiaobai."
Holy crap, what kind of name is this? She doesn't want to be a newbie, she doesn't want to be a stupid dog.
Xiang Wan shook her head in protest, but the person in front of her frowned and said, "Don't like Xiaobai? Then let's call her Baibai."
I still shook my head. What a terrible name! Couldn't they have chosen something more normal?
"I'm so defeated," Xiang Wan thought, "How can someone so good-looking be so bad at naming things? 'Little White' and 'White' are just names like that."
"How about we name him Little Fox? Or Little Fox?"
Well, she quickly nodded in agreement. Little Fox it is, at least the last one has "fox" in it. As long as she believes it to be Little Hu in her heart, that's fine.
She dared not expect any more pleasant-sounding names to come out of this person's mouth.
If the protests continue, I reckon all sorts of shady characters like Fatty and Huhu will have to come out.
Xiang Wan accepted the name he gave her with a happy expression, and was then held in his arms, his back gently patted.
It felt so good, Xiang Wan hummed happily.
A smile flickered in the eyes of the person holding her.
If Xiang Wan could see it, she would be able to tell that this person was definitely doing it on purpose!
However, the person was so engrossed in the comfort of being held in someone's arms that they didn't notice.
