Hao Yuchun sat on the bed, pale-faced and frustrated, her fingers gripping the sheets so tightly they almost made a hole in them.
She felt terrible; she never imagined that what she had imagined would actually happen to her. That servant kept forcing himself on her, and the seductive lady didn't stop him. The techniques she usually used on men were becoming more and more refined, making her lose her mind for a moment. She was so focused on enjoying herself that she accidentally killed him.
She ran back in a panic and couldn't sleep again. Her mind was filled with the image of someone discovering her and yelling at her to kill her. Just thinking about it was terrifying.
"What's the panic? Once you gather enough energy and I become powerful, who can do anything to you? The most urgent thing is to find a way to get more essence. If we keep dragging this out, we'll only end up dead."
Hearing the Enchanting System's words, Hao Yuchun's face paled even more. She had heard the commotion outside the courtyard gate, but she didn't have the courage to go out and see, fearing that someone would discover something amiss. She had wanted to discuss with the Enchanting System how to weather the storm, but instead of receiving comfort, she felt even more distressed.
If only Father were here. At this moment, Hao Yuchun missed Hao Xuan terribly. No matter how Hao Xuan treated her in her past life, being protected under his wing in this life was at least better than facing the outside world alone. This was Hao Yuchun's truest thought.

By the time Xiang Wan was summoned to serve, it was already past mid-morning. Hao Yuchun inquired about the situation outside and then sent her out of the mansion to buy some cosmetics. Taking this opportunity, Xiang Wan also bought some necessary medicinal herbs, just in case.
That night, Hao Yuchun asked Xiang Wan to take the night watch.
In the middle of the night, Xiang Wan smelled a faint incense scent, which had a drowsy effect. A slight smile played on her lips; she was finally waiting for Hao Yuchun to make her move, and was quite curious to see what kind of trouble she would cause. So, she pretended to be unconscious, turning the tables on Hao Yuchun.
She was somewhat disappointed; nothing happened after waiting all night. She forced herself to stay awake, and faint dark circles appeared under her eyes.
As dawn broke and activity began to stir outside, Xiang Wan finally fell asleep with peace of mind. Since Hao Yuchun had managed to refrain from attacking all night, she didn't believe she would be ambushed in broad daylight with so many people around.
She slept until the sun was high in the sky before Xiuer came to wake her.
Seeing the girl's envious look, Xiang Wan smiled, offered no explanation, and got up to fetch water to wash up. In her eyes, since this was the young lady's most valued maid, treated like a sister, it was perfectly normal for her to sleep in occasionally; she could only be envious. To tell her that the young lady was planning to harm this maid she considered like a sister would be utterly ridiculous, the kind of nonsense uttered in a sleep.
Having slept enough during the day, Xiang Wan found herself having trouble sleeping at night. Lying on the couch in the outer room, she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep, when Hao Yuchun called her into the inner room, saying she wanted to sleep in the same bed with her.
Such things, though uncommon in the original owner's memory, were not unheard of. Xiang Wan agreed with a look of joy and shyness, as if doing so was her greatest honor.
Hao Yuchun talked a lot about her childhood, and Xiang Wan occasionally chimed in with a few words, but said nothing else.
She was a maid who never left the house, and she had no parents or brothers. Because of Hao Yuchun's special treatment of her, she didn't even have a close friend. What could she say? Everything revolved around Hao Yuchun, which was normal.
The two talked until well past midnight before finally drifting off to sleep. Xiang Wan remained alert throughout. In the latter half of the night, Hao Yuchun quietly got up and then quietly lay back down. Sure enough, Xiang Wan smelled that fragrance again, mixed with a sweet, cloying scent. Needless to say, this was another test from Hao Yuchun. This time, Xiang Wan stayed awake until dawn before falling into a deep sleep.
For several days in a row, Xiang Wan spent her time in this state. The reversed day and night was not so bad, but what was troublesome was that Hao Yuchun slept in the same bed with her every day, so she didn't have a chance to prepare the medicine powder under her nose.
Cui Ruliu ordered his men to wrap A Bing up and bury him in the mass grave. He then gave everyone a dressing down, strictly forbidding his servants from making any wild guesses. Secretly, another person was now watching Hao Yuchun.
"Have there been any developments from Hao Yuchun these past few days?"
Cui Ruliu held the teacup, took a small sip, and looked down at the teacup in her hand, watching the green leaves slowly unfurl.
Madam Gui raised her hand, signaling the maids around her to leave, before leaning close to Cui Ruliu's ear and whispering, "Master, news has come from over there that Hao Xiangwan is sleeping in the same bed with Miss every day."
"oh?"
The teacup was placed on the table with a light touch, a few drops of tea splashed out and then fell back down.
"Send another person to keep an eye on those two servants, but make sure they don't notice."
“Master, what is this…” Madam Gui was still in shock and doubt.
