Chapter 394 The Mystery (Part Two)

Bu Xiangwan was just an ordinary young woman, with an ordinary family, ordinary education, and an ordinary job. If her life had continued as ordinary as she imagined, she might have had an ordinary husband, an ordinary child, and lived an ordinary life. But all of this was shattered on her twenty-fifth birthday.

I remember that day, her parents and younger brother came to her rented apartment early in the morning, bought her gifts, and cooked a big table of delicious food.

She didn't have many close friends, so she invited her neighbor from next door to celebrate with her.

This apartment building was built specifically for working-class people, and most of the residents are young people like her who earn wages. She has lived here for three years, and she only met her next-door neighbor a few days ago. She ran into him when she went out because of a short circuit in her room, and they chatted for a bit.

My neighbor is a cheerful young man named Zuo Mu. He said he just moved here and doesn't know many people, so this is a good opportunity to get to know her.

Zuo Mu is eloquent, handsome, and has a slightly magnetic voice, perfectly fitting the standards of modern women choosing a partner. Bu Xiangwan is somewhat introverted, the type who blushes after exchanging a few words with someone.

After chatting for a while at the door, Zuo Mu casually asked where she was going so late at night. Bu Xiangwan replied embarrassedly that the electricity in the house was broken and she had called the property management to fix it.

Zuo Mu said he studied electronics and might be able to help her take a look. Before Bu Xiangwan could refuse, Zuo Mu brought out a set of tools from his room, which looked quite professional. After hesitating for a while, she agreed to let him come in and check it.

As a single woman, she found it difficult to refuse others' kindness, but fearing that something bad might happen, she left the door open and stood there without daring to go in.

The room was dark, with no lights on. Zuo Mu was holding onto both a flashlight and tools, so he hesitated and asked her to help him find a way to light the way.

Seeing how enthusiastic the other person was, Bu Xiangwan felt embarrassed to just stand by and watch, so she went over to help.

Zuo Mu was indeed very familiar with electrical circuits. After fiddling with it for a few moments, he knew where the problem was. He quickly reconnected the old, short-circuited wire. The room was brightly lit, and Bu Xiangwan only saw him wipe the sweat from his brow with his sleeve, pack up his tools, and then say goodbye and leave.

Bu Xiangwan is not the kind of person who would take advantage of others. She always wants to find an opportunity to thank the other party, but she always misses it.

She worked the day shift, while Zuo Mu probably worked the night shift, so they rarely had the chance to meet. It wasn't until a few days before her birthday that she ran into him again and invited him over for dinner.

Zuo Mu wasn't one to be coy; he agreed immediately. Bu Xiangwan was overjoyed for several days because of this.

When her parents and younger brother saw that she had invited a man over, they were surprised and even more enthusiastic.

Zuo Mu, unaware it was her birthday, apologized somewhat awkwardly. His parents had subtly inquired about his private life at the dinner table, which he had openly discussed. Bu Xiangwan's face flushed crimson, a mixture of embarrassment, annoyance, and a touch of excitement. If she had a boyfriend like Zuo Mu, she would probably be very happy.

After the birthday party, Zuo Mu made an excuse to give her a belated birthday gift, and they started seeing each other more often.

The two gradually became acquainted, and Bu Xiangwan vaguely learned some things about Zuo Mu. He said he was a pharmaceutical representative who usually went to hospitals, met with clients, and accompanied people for drinks.

After dating for over a year, Bu Xiangwan had a vague feeling that Zuo Mu might be about to confess his feelings to her.

That day, she dressed up in her finest attire and followed Zuo Mu to the mysterious place he had described. It was a villa situated on an island, with a beautiful environment and pleasant climate. Most importantly, the villa was filled with vibrant red flowers, a vast expanse of fiery blossoms; walking through it felt like being in a sea of flowers, incredibly beautiful.

I remember Zuo Mu was dressed casually, holding a small velvet box, and slowly walking towards her.

Bu Xiangwan knew that this must be the kind of thing she most wanted to see, and she felt a little excited.

The sparkling diamond ring, radiating dazzling light, was held in Zuo Mu's hand and slowly handed to her.

Until she woke up in a foggy room, Bu Xiangwan still thought it was all just a dream.

She tried groping around, tapping, and even throwing her shoes over her head, but to no avail. It was a completely enclosed space with no way out and no food.

After all that commotion, Bu Xiangwan lay down on the bed and fell asleep. When she woke up again, she found herself in a different place. The enclosed space was gone, replaced by endless yellow sand and winds whipping it up. No matter how far she walked in one direction or how deep she dug in the sand, she couldn't find a way out.

Her parched lips and hungry stomach told her that if she didn't get out of the desert, she would die there.

In despair, she used her last bit of strength, but still couldn't see any green, and collapsed.

When she woke up again, she was in a hospital, surrounded by a group of doctors in white coats, performing various tests on her, shaking their heads in dismay. Finally, a kind nurse told her that she had a terminal illness and didn't have long to live.

Bu Xiangwan couldn't believe it. Taking advantage of their inattention, she ran out of the ward, only to find the entire hospital empty, with her as the only patient. She returned to her previous room, only to find that all the doctors and nurses who had treated her were nowhere to be seen.

There was food and water in the hospital, but the only thing missing was people!

Bu Xiangwan packed plenty of food and water, wrapped them in a bed sheet, and headed out of the hospital. But the moment she opened the door, the hospital behind her suddenly vanished, leaving only darkness.

There was no light ahead, and pitch black behind. Bu Xiangwan groped her way forward with trepidation, occasionally hearing strange noises that quickly passed by. Most of the time, all around was silent.

With her strong nerves, Bu Xiangwan held on until the seventh day after the food ran out, when she collapsed to the ground.

When she awoke again, she found herself submerged in water, surrounded by an endless ocean. There was still no sign of human habitation, but she didn't want to repeat her previous fate. After venturing ashore to observe the surroundings for a while, she chose to drown.

When I woke up, I was still in the same enclosed space, and everything started all over again.

Bu Xiangwan had no idea how many different scenarios she had experienced, but in the end, if she chose to commit suicide, everything would start all over again.

Living here day after day, year after year, the initial hope and the desire to escape gradually faded with each repetitive scene, leaving her numb. Finally, Bu Xiangwan chose to commit suicide in the very place where it all began. This time, she was truly free.

She couldn't understand why she, an ordinary person, would encounter such a thing. Was it because of Zuo Mu?

The repeated suicide attempts fueled Bu Xiangwan's resentment. She hoped to find the cause of all this, end it all, and trap the person in the world she was experiencing, so that they could never escape it!
