The sky was clear and cloudless. The streets were bustling with people, the noise of traffic and advertisements mingling together—a perfectly ordinary scene. But alas, Xiang Wan was destined not to live a busy life like ordinary people.
"Where are you going? This place looks ordinary and doesn't seem dangerous. What should we do next?"
Finally snapping out of its research, the system deliberately changed the subject. Could it tell its host that such a brilliant and powerful system as itself hadn't collected any parenting guidelines? That would be too embarrassing. After leaving, it absolutely had to collect all the parenting information—no, all the information, useful and useless—just in case it came in handy later. Pretending to be a scholar now and then wasn't so bad.
007 had made up its mind. It initially considered directly probing its host's thoughts, but then changed its mind. The reason was simple: its host was now at a higher level, and reading her thoughts without authorization would be both energy-consuming and thankless. Why create unnecessary trouble? It preferred to be a quiet, beautiful system, casually watching live streams – that would be perfect!
"Xiao Qi, tell me, would a normal person hurt the weak?"
"Absolutely not! Anyone who would dare to do that is insane."
“I think so too.” Xiang Wan stretched out her fingertip and poked Xiao Bao’s face. The soft touch made her even more reluctant to let go.
From the moment she met Zuo Mu, the subsequent scenes deviated from the original owner's memories, introducing new scenes and people. Xiang Wan guessed that she was trying to find a passage to the next scene or world. But this world was so vast, filled with countless people; where could she find such an entrance? Her intuition told her it wouldn't be that easy.
A bridge connects the two banks, with a highway on the upper level, a pedestrian crossing in the middle level, and a railway at the bottom.
The river is swift, with at least five kilometers between the two banks, and a boat passes under the bridge every hour. The bridge piers are very thick, with a distance of about one hundred meters between each pier.
The river is wide and long, seemingly connecting to the sea in the distance. Every now and then, seabirds swoop down from above, leaving a swift silhouette before disappearing into the water.
Xiang Wan sat on a bench by the bridge with her baby in her arms, staying there for almost half a day. During this time, the child didn't cry or fuss. After waking up, he played with Xiang Wan for a while, then fell asleep from exhaustion.
In truth, if it were just Xiang Wan alone, she could have used many methods to try and find the key point. But now, she's bound by her child and can't abandon him to leave alone. Perhaps, the person behind the scenes saw this weakness in her, which is why they placed the child in her hands, trapping her here, never to escape.
A woman holding a child sat on the bridge for a long time, unwilling to leave, which had already attracted the attention of those around her. Some people quietly gathered around, lingering not far from Xiang Wan, afraid that she might do something rash.
There are kind-hearted people everywhere. At this moment, the man called Brother Bin and Xiao Qin had released their acupoints and were searching for Xiang Wan everywhere.
News spreads incredibly fast online, and she had become the focus of everyone's attention. After all, she had just dealt with her husband and his mistress, leaving behind a widow and orphan, which inevitably led people to think of unpleasant things.
As evening approached, more and more people gathered around her, including the man and Xiaoqin. They tried to persuade Xiang Wan to go home, whether out of consideration for their reputation or the moral consequences they would face if something happened to her, they didn't want anything to happen to her.
Xiang Wan sat there quietly, as if she hadn't heard anything.
All day long, Xiao Bao neither cried nor fussed, and each time he woke up, it only made her feel more and more sorry for him.
Looking at the expressions on the faces of those around her, Xiang Wan knew she couldn't wait any longer. If this world was testing her compassion, then it had succeeded. But Xiang Wan wasn't someone to be trifled with. It was something no normal person would do, but Xiang Wan sighed; ultimately, she had to do it.
"Xiao Qi, cheer up. If we fail this time, we'll just end up back in that house. I need you to write everything down. If I lose my memory, you must tell me what happened. Otherwise, we might never get out."
She looked at Xiaobao with a smile on her face, but inside she was extremely serious and earnest. She was going to take a gamble; if she failed, she would pay with her life.
007 was on high alert. Xiang Wan stood up, holding the child, looked around at the people, and slowly walked up to the man. She sneered, "Ever since we got married, you've always been busy. This family is the same whether you're here or not; I'm the one supporting it all. Sometimes I can't help but think, 'If only you were the one who had the child,' otherwise you wouldn't be so indifferent to your own child, wishing he had never existed."
The people around her were all gossipy, which Xiang Wan found amusing. If Lu Xiang Wan in this world were to meet a tragic end, Xiang Wan wouldn't mind avenging her a little. Scumbags, she thought, might as well kill them one by one.
"Look, doesn't Xiaobao look like you?" Smiling, she handed the child to the man. Seeing him reach out to take it, Xiang Wan quickly pulled her hand back, took a few steps back, and leaned against the railing. "Your son doesn't want a father like you, and neither do I!"
Pretending to throw the child down, the man rushed over. Xiang Wan dodged to the side, bumped into his body with her shoulder, and as he staggered, she hooked her foot around his ankle and lifted him up forcefully. The man's body was suspended in mid-air, flipping over the railing.
A gasp rippled through the crowd as they clung to the railing and peered down. The man's body sank into the water, the splash quickly swallowed by the rushing current.
Someone came over to grab Xiang Wan's hand, but she nimbly dodged it and kicked Xiao Qin from behind, making her and the man become a pair of star-crossed lovers.
Two murders occurred in quick succession. Someone quickly called the police, and Xiang Wan took advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention to run to the other side of the bridge, grabbed the child, and jumped off without saying a word.
She held her breath from the start, and after falling into the water, she couldn't see anything. Xiang Wan couldn't bear to watch her child drown, so she held him tightly, refusing to let herself see him.
One second, two seconds, three seconds, the water flow disappeared, and Xiang Wan felt a lightness in her arms. She felt as if she was completely weightless. Then, the world spun around her, and she had no foothold in her arms or legs. The feeling of weightlessness was very strong.
I opened my eyes to complete darkness, with only the whistling wind whispering in my ears.
"Xiang Wan, you scared me to death..." 007 was still in shock, and his voice was trembling. "It was too sudden. This system thought you were going to commit suicide. But you didn't even spare a child. This system feels so unfamiliar with you, as if I don't even recognize you anymore."
Xiang Wan smiled bitterly. How could she possibly want to hurt a child? The moment she jumped into the water, her regret reached its peak. If it really was a child, she would have given her own life for it!
