Chapter 422 Bending That Orc's Legacy (Part 11)

Bai San and Xiang Wan exchanged a glance, their eyes both fixed on Shi Cong: This guy is too shrewd; he's practically got exactly what he wanted.

If they came out and only brought back some salt, they'd probably be punished for a while. But food makes all the difference. You see, the whole hunting party was still waiting patiently by the pond for the fish to bite.

If they bring back prey, not only will they have an easier time talking to the hunting party, but their father certainly won't investigate their unauthorized outing. Besides, wouldn't it be much easier for Shi Cong to enter the fox clan?

Xiang Wan quickly stepped forward, joining Bai Sanli on the same side, looking at Shi Cong with expectant eyes, hoping he wouldn't disappoint them.

Meeting their eager gazes, Shi Cong touched his nose with his fingertip, coughed, and said reservedly, "It's nothing particularly good, just something I slaughtered while I was wiping the snow..."

Bai San took off running towards the rocks. Xiang Wan took a few steps, then turned back, tucked the animal hide into her arms, and ran after him.

"Behind the rocks!" The person had already disappeared from sight, and Shi Cong finished speaking.

Without an audience, Shi Cong smiled and shook his head, sighing as he walked away. The allure of food was truly undeniable. Then a pang of unease struck him; standing there, completely ignored, was a truly... well, let's just say it felt...

After circling around the fallen snow, Bai San finally found the walrus hiding behind the rocks by relying on his nose, and was immediately petrified.

Bai San was almost in tears: Damn it, such a big one, weighing two or three tons, what made Shi Cong so calm as to say it was a gift? Just this one is enough for the entire fox clan of beastmen to get through the winter.

One person can handle it; there's really no need for a whole group.

Suddenly realizing this, Bai San was conflicted again. If he brought such a strong orc back to the tribe, what if the orc wanted a younger brother? It seemed that no one could stop him.

Xiang Wan didn't care about any of that. She stood in front of the walrus with excitement, touching it here and there. In modern times, she had only ever seen walrus shows at aquariums, and they were never this big.

Shi Cong was the last to arrive, and he looked somewhat conflicted. How long would it take to get such a large creature back with just these two orcs?

"So, when we saw you, you were wiping off the walrus blood splattered on you, right?"

Xiang Wan touched the walrus's neck; a deep knife wound was very noticeable, with blood congealed around it, turning a dark red color.

"Yes, if we want to get it back, we need to do it quickly, otherwise seabirds might come and steal the food."

After Shi Cong's reminder, Bai San and Xiang Wan simultaneously began to think about how to transport the walrus back. It was so big; with the three of them, it would take forever.

As I pondered this, my gaze returned to Shi Cong.

If they can get the walrus here, they can surely get it away too, right?

At this moment, Bai San and Xiang Wan were of one mind: let Shi Cong pull them back.

Seeing the two men's gazes, Shi Cong shrugged and said helplessly, "I didn't pull him over. He attacked me and I killed him."

It turns out this was a product that came to our door automatically. What are we going to do now?

"The three of us definitely can't handle this. How about this: we each cut a portion first, then divide the rest and bury it under the sand. We can call the hunting team to come and pull it up tomorrow, okay?"

Xiang Wan could only think of this method. Without excavators, cranes, or large trucks, or even oxcarts, how much could she move with her bare hands and feet?

“That’s not realistic. No matter how sharp the stone knife is, it will take time to cut it apart. We won’t be able to get back before dark. It would be better to bury it in snow and bring people back to dig it up tomorrow.”

Bai San rarely thought about it so seriously; his idea was actually quite good.

All four eyes turned to Shi Cong, and after he nodded in agreement, they began to cut off a piece of the tender flesh and wrap it in animal hide. Then, working together, they spent about an hour completely burying the walrus's carcass in the snow.

To make it more recognizable, Xiang Wan placed a large snowball on the snowdrift, and a snowman without hands or a face was finished.

Looking at the huge snowman, Xiang Wan clapped her hands, feeling a great sense of accomplishment; she was just short of taking a picture. After all, it was the first snowman Bai San and Shi Cong built together (completely ignoring herself), so it was quite memorable, wasn't it?

With the important business finished, Bai San's face turned stern again. The matter of stealing the animal hides wasn't even resolved yet; was Lao Yao trying to fly to the moon?

Xiang Wan awkwardly touched her nose, her face full of flattery, "Third Brother, you see, we're not taking their stuff for nothing. We can use it to wrap meat when we get back. Oh, right, let's also get some salt to take back. Once we've eaten our own grilled food, Dad definitely won't punish us."

After repeated assurances, Bai San reluctantly agreed, telling Xiang Wan to pack less salt, as they still had a long journey ahead.

Xiang Wan chuckled, but her hands didn't stop; she quickly packed several packages. Shi Cong was no exception, even contributing his animal skin vest.

In his words, it's too hot to wear a vest while traveling, so it's better to pack something useful.

Xiang Wan smiled and gave him a thumbs up. Everyone would definitely like Shi Cong, who was so perceptive.

As darkness fell, the white bear and his companions, covered in frost, returned to their overnight camp in the forest.

The campfire was always tended to, and a wall of branches was erected around it. The top was covered with dry branches, forming a simple hut.

Although it was drafty, it was still much warmer inside the shack than outside.

The ground around the campfire had softened considerably, and the snowmelt had seeped into the ground, forming a thin layer of mud.
