Bai Da and Bai Er recognized Shi Cong and Hu Lai's faces. They had no objection to the latter joining the hunting team, and they might even become family in the future. But why would a male join them? Was he here to cause them trouble?
There aren't enough females in the tribe to begin with. If another one comes along, with a better figure than them, but only slightly less attractive (-_-||), and all muscle, then who will care about anyone else in the eyes of the other females?
Can't you see that those two brothers are still single?
Resist it!
"We object!"
The two brothers exchanged a glance and stepped forward at the same time, instantly dividing Xiang Wan and the other three into two camps: Xiang Wan, Bai San, and Hu Lai on one side, and Shi Cong standing alone on the other.
The way the two looked at Hu Lai was completely different from the way they looked at Shi Cong. Anyone who knew them well could easily tell what kind of schemes they were plotting.
The white ox wanted nothing more than to give those two lads a good whack with a stick. What kind of time was this to be thinking about such nonsense? If they couldn't even fill their stomachs, how could they be thinking about mates? This guy in front of them was a wealthy man, someone who had brought them hope, and the third and youngest brothers had brought him back together. He had initially thought it would be difficult to explain, but now that the hunting team had agreed, these two lads were just jumping out and spouting nonsense—what else could they be but asking for a beating?
Their fathers were practically spitting fire, and the two of them were so engrossed in imagining their future spouses being snatched away by the male opposite that they didn't even notice what was happening behind them.
Xiang Wan quickly winked at Bai San, thinking that lovers shouldn't be separated like this.
Bai Sanheng moved between Bai Da Ge and Shi Cong, forcibly bending their bodies backward. The crowd behind them and Bai Niu were already glaring at them. In any case, they had to solve the food problem first, and deal with other things later. They couldn't let these two ruin things.
Shi Cong crossed his arms, taking in everyone's expressions. They had been invited in the first place, so their agreement or disagreement didn't matter, but...
His gaze swept over Hu Lai and Xiang Wan's arms, which were pressed tightly together, and he suddenly found it a bit irritating. Could it be because the two, who seemed to be brothers, agreed to let females join the hunting team but not him?
Looking up at the sky, it was pitch black. He wondered when those kids would find him and make contact with him after he suddenly disappeared.
The third brother whispered something in the ears of the eldest and second eldest brothers, and their eyes lit up at the same time. They looked at Shi Cong again, like dogs that had seen a bone, wagging their tails excitedly.
Finally, everyone returned to the shack, ate and drank, and then each found a corner to close their eyes and take a nap.
The backgrounds of Shi Cong and Hu Lai were the same as when they introduced themselves, so Bai Xiong didn't ask any further questions. They were tired after a long day and needed to rest; anything else could wait until dawn.
Hu Lai clung to Xiang Wan, even while sleeping. Shi Cong was surrounded by Bai Dage and Bai San, who in particular resolutely prevented him from getting close to the youngest brother.
Xiang Wan was quite happy to see this scene of food guarding; it was such a heartwarming sight!
Before going to sleep, Xiang Wan felt as if she had forgotten something, but couldn't remember it for a moment, so she leaned against the shack and fell asleep.
Nothing was said that night, until dawn broke, when an angry roar of a beast was heard.
Xiang Wan woke up groggily, and it took her a while to realize that it was Sabretooth's voice. Damn it, she'd completely forgotten about Sabretooth. Forgetting it so soon after it became her partner was really a bit much.
So, when he saw the saber-toothed leopard turn its head and snort, Xiang Wan stroked its fur for a long time and promised to roast it for three meals before letting the matter drop.
The hunting party originally consisted of eleven people, but with the addition of four brothers who later sneaked in, as well as Shi Cong and Hu Lai, the number of people increased dramatically.
With the addition of the saber-toothed leopard, the group simply made a makeshift sled out of tree branches. Xiang Wan drove the sled, with Shi Cong and the white bear riding behind. Of the rest, three stayed behind to guard Hu Lai, while the others followed Bai San on foot.
Originally, Xiang Wan wanted to create opportunities for Bai San and Shi Cong, but the others couldn't handle the saber-toothed leopard, Shi Cong didn't want to walk, and Bai Xiong was the captain, so she had to leave a spot for them.
Along the way, the wind whistled past his ears, giving him the feeling of being on the ground in an airplane. It was exhilarating, but he was also suffering from a mouthful of snow spray kicked by a saber-toothed leopard's hind legs. He could only close his eyes and let it do its thing, as long as it didn't crash into rocks or fall into pits.
After running for a while, Xiang Wan felt a warm hand covering her eyes. She turned her head and met Shi Cong's concerned eyes.
Who would have thought that the physically robust Shi Cong would have such a thoughtful side? The third brother is going to be lucky in the future.
Xiang Wan narrowed her eyes slightly, a smile playing on her lips, nodded at him, and put his hand down.
If covering her eyes with her hands were effective, she might as well cover her head with animal hide. But then she wouldn't be able to see anything at all. At this moment, Xiang Wan particularly missed modern goggles. Anyway, it was snowing and freezing; it wouldn't be strange if she could make herself an ice shield, right?
The more she thought about it, the more sense it made. Xiang Wan made up her mind that on the way back, she would break off a round piece of ice and place it in front of her to block the wind.
The polar bear, with its back to them, was unaware of the interaction between Xiang Wan and Shi Cong. Its mind was preoccupied with whether what they had said the previous night was true.
About an hour later, the saber-toothed leopard stopped and lay on the ground panting.
When Xiang Wan opened her eyes, she was already at the beach. However, the snow on the beach seemed to have changed, with more messy marks on it.
Shi Cong grabbed Xiang Wan's wrist and led her behind a nearby rock.
