Chapter 446 Past Lives and Present Lives (Part Twelve)

Xiao Ming suddenly smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes; there was an indescribable feeling in it.

Xiang Wan glanced around, then fixed her gaze on Xiao Ming again. She hadn't done anything wrong; what was so funny?

"There's a class reunion in a month. You haven't been to one in a while, have you? Would you like to see your old classmates and catch up?"

It's another class reunion. Wasn't it because the original owner attended a class reunion that her marriage fell apart?

While it's said to be about connecting with each other, isn't it just a disguised way of showing off wealth, or perhaps a way to alleviate loneliness?

At their age, those who frequent these gatherings are either living very comfortably or looking for a new partner. Pure friendships are rare. While these gatherings strengthen bonds among classmates, family relationships often crumble. Some even abandon their families for a former crush. These kinds of reunions really do break up couples; what's the point of going?

However, seeing Xiao Ming's expectant look, Xiang Wan decided to go and see him anyway. At the very least, she wanted to remove the thorn in the original owner's heart, and incidentally, also give Xiao Ming a prick, making him understand just how hurtful it is to chat and laugh with other women in front of one's lover.

"Great! I haven't been to a party like this in ages. Send me the exact time and address later."

Xiang Wan waved her phone, looking very happy.

Xiao Ming's lips twitched slightly, and he silently opened WeChat and added Xiang Wan as a friend.

After clicking "agree," Xiang Wan browsed through Xiao Ming's private photo album and found that there were no other updates besides work-related ones.

"You're so boring. You talk about work on your WeChat Moments. Don't you get tired of it?" Xiang Wan didn't even look up.

"Do you think your friends will like it if you just post pictures of yourself and your kids all the time?" Xiao Ming glanced at her and frowned.

"I post on social media to let my friends know that I'm doing well and nothing serious is happening. Besides, only people who care about me will see it; those who don't like it can just block me."

Why does it only show the last three days?

Xiang Wan felt strange being asked this so directly.

"Having children means not wanting too much attention, so this setup is perfect."

"Don't block me from seeing your Moments."

"What?"

Xiao Ming repeated, "Don't block me from WeChat Moments."

Xiang Wan awkwardly turned on her phone and, right in front of him, turned off the blocking button.

She should have blocked it after Xiao Ming left; being seen in person must have been a little embarrassing.

Perhaps guessing what Xiang Wan was thinking, Xiao Ming grabbed Xiang Wan's phone, pinned his contact to the top, added a star, and even changed how he addressed her.

"That's going too far. It's my phone. What right do you have to change how you address it?"

Seeing the brightly lit name "Ah Ming" above, Xiang Wan felt a little breathless, as if her privacy had been violated.

“We are the people who know each other best. If you feel it’s unfair, you can change mine.”

As he spoke, Xiao Ming handed over his phone.

Xiang Wan initially wanted to refuse, but it would be a waste not to take the opportunity that was offered. So she accepted it, changed a few words in her WeChat nickname, and returned it to him.

Xiao Ming took it and stuffed it into his pocket. He glanced at his watch, stood up, and said, "It's noon, want to have lunch together?"

With nothing else to do, Xiang Wan picked up her handbag and stuffed all the important things inside. "I have to come back for my shift this afternoon, so let's find a restaurant nearby. It's on me."

"good!"

Why did you agree so readily? I was thinking of being polite, but oh well, I'll just have to accept it, considering Xiao Ming came all this way to give me child support.

A hint of a smile flashed in Xiao Ming's eyes. He knew this woman was saying one thing and meaning another, and was just being deliberately evasive. After this meal, he'd have an excuse to ask her out for a chat about life next time.

This restaurant she frequents also offers delivery. The delivery guy who runs this place is a familiar face to Xiang Wan. When he saw her come in, he immediately checked his order and assumed that Xiang Wan couldn't wait and had come to pack it up herself. If the customer came to the door, he would lose his delivery fee for that order.

"Sit down. This place has pretty good braised chicken and squid rice. You probably don't eat these often, do you?"

Xiang Wan found a seat by the window and called over the waiter to take her order.

"When I'm busy, I don't even have time to eat the takeout I order."

Xiao Ming took the menu and ordered a vegetarian dish and a soup, leaving the rest for Xiang Wan to order.

"Won't that ruin your stomach?"

"Fortunately, I'm young, so I can handle it."

Xiang Wan twitched her lips. They're all in their thirties, still young?

"Let me ask you a question. When you say 'young,' are you referring to the psychological, physiological, or spiritual aspects?"

Xiao Ming glanced at Xiang Wan, then turned to look out the window. He didn't answer, but felt a subtle sense of pleasure.

This woman, she can't even sit with him for a minute before she starts bombarding him with a bunch of silly and ridiculous questions, and she insists on getting him to answer them. If he doesn't answer, it's fine, but once he answers one, countless more will follow, giving him a headache. All these years, she hasn't changed at all; I don't know which man can stand her.

Thinking of the man he saw at the restaurant that day, the slight pleasure that Xiao Ming had just felt vanished instantly, and he even lost his appetite for the food in front of him.

He didn't speak, and Xiang Wan certainly wouldn't keep talking indefinitely; it would be too awkward to talk to herself. Filling her stomach was the most important thing.

Xiang Wan ate heartily, but Xiao Ming put down his chopsticks. Seeing that she was almost finished, he served her two bowls of soup, one for each of them.

"Thanks!"

Xiang Wan didn't even look up, taking small sips of soup before letting out a satisfied burp.
