“Yes, Mother.” Xiang Wan glanced at Qin Rong, who was glaring at her. She rolled her eyes and smiled at her, “It was Rong’er who made this possible.”
The next sentence made Qin Rong's face turn bright red, filled with anger and indignation.
The Queen Mother nodded, signaling her to continue.
“My sister Rong’er somehow heard about this handsome young man and has been running around everywhere. My sister and I were curious and worried, afraid that she would be deceived, so we wanted to find out for ourselves. Who knew that this young man would turn out to be our savior? Mother always teaches us to be grateful and repay kindness, so we couldn’t be ungrateful. We treated the young man to lunch and persuaded him to do some favors for our shop. Mother, my sister Rong’er has done a great service, so we can’t punish her too much.”
Qin Rong's face flushed red, then paled, then darkened, like a kaleidoscope of colors. The last sentence struck a nerve, infuriating her and causing her breathing to quicken. Now she understood perfectly well that she had been tricked by Xiang Wan. She had thought she could use this to her advantage, but little did she know that Xiang Wan already knew her. All her clever schemes had likely made her look like a clown in that young master's eyes. As for the accusations of smearing Xiang Wan and Xiang Xia, Qin Rong had selectively ignored them, simply believing she had been manipulated. Now, bringing up her previous efforts to get to know that young master was something even her own father wouldn't tolerate. The punishment her mother had preemptively imposed was lenient compared to the severity of what was to come. She was even grateful that her mother hadn't pressed the matter further, instead exposing Xiang Wan's future interactions with that young master, thus eliminating any chance for Qin Rong herself. Her plans had backfired, instead benefiting Xiang Wan—how could she not be furious?
Qin Rong trembled all over, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
Xiang Wan was in a good mood: You little punk, trying to mess with me? I'll make you furious!
