Chapter 465 The Princess is Above (Part 7)

The emperor's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched Xiang Wan, who was beaming with joy, stride happily toward the main hall, holding a colorful ribbon in her hand.

Rub your eyes, look again, and you'll see, this is definitely his daughter, right?

Dressed in a bright red wedding gown and adorned with bridal headdress, her youthful yet striking appearance, coupled with her smug and triumphant air, was too much for her father, the emperor, to bear.

Especially behind her, the groom looked quite pleasing to the eye, but he was bound so tightly that his legs were almost completely tied up, it was truly a pitiful sight.

This is Cheng Yuqing, the only son of General Cheng? He has some of his father's bearing, but what's with that face, so black it's almost dripping ink?

Eunuch Lu's jaw nearly dropped to the ground. He glanced at the Emperor, then at Xiang Wan, silently shut his mouth, and glared fiercely at the eunuch who had come in to deliver the news.

Such a thrilling scene, and they didn't even give us a heads-up.

The young eunuch who had just stood up to leave was nearly knocked to his knees by Eunuch Lu's glare. He quickly took small, quick steps and ran along the wall.

He was afraid. He was really afraid that the emperor, who hadn't yet come to his senses, would suddenly remember him, and he'd better get as far away as possible than lose his life.

The court officials no longer felt back pain, leg pain, or blushing; they kept glancing at the emperor.

Having such a troublemaking daughter, they suddenly felt sorry for the emperor. No wonder he was so short-tempered. They should have been more accommodating and not caused him any trouble.

However, this idea was nipped in the bud as soon as it began.

"Wan'er, your taste isn't very good. The groom isn't even as good-looking as me... Eunuch Lu."

The emperor originally wanted to say it was himself, but he couldn't bear to hurt his daughter's feelings, since no one in the whole country could compare to him (the court officials: ̄□ ̄||), so he had to choose the fair-faced, beardless man next to him as a comparison.

In his eyes, anyone who tries to take her daughter is an ugly monster.

At that moment, he completely forgot that it was clearly his daughter who had stolen someone else's place.

Grandpa Lu felt wronged and bitter, but he couldn't say it.

Knowing full well that he couldn't get married, the emperor still made fun of him, which really hurt him!

This loyal eunuch was already thinking that he should spread the word that the concubines in the harem were too lazy. The emperor was so angry, yet they didn't even send some bitter herbs to calm him down.

With a reluctant expression, Cheng Yuqing knelt down in the main hall along with Xiang Wan.

He didn't want to come either. If his internal energy hadn't been still recovering and he hadn't been treated by a quack doctor and gotten himself all sick, would he have felt threatened?

Thinking of Xiang Wan running excitedly to his room early in the morning, saying that she had been implicated and her reputation ruined because of him, and that if she didn't go to the palace with him to ask for a royal decree to marry him, he would make his impotence known throughout the country, Cheng Yuqing felt his forehead veins bulge and he wished he could just kill her.

But when she thought of her grandfather, Cheng Yuqing silently deflated.

He is the only son of the Cheng family. If anything happens to him, his grandfather will immediately go to his father.

Besides, he's clearly not sick. He started vomiting blood and... well, you know. If we don't give in to her, who knows what trouble she might cause. Let's just wait and see. Circumstances dictate our actions. Once he recovers, what can the princess's residence do to him?

Cheng Yuqing endured all of this.

He had been tied up and unconscious all night, and his movements were restricted. He let the maid change his clothes, but Xiang Wan almost made him vomit blood again from anger.

"Don't worry, I've already informed my grandfather, and I reckon he's already making preparations for your wedding."

I've seen shameless people, but I've never seen anyone this shameless.

Cheng Yuqing didn't want to speak anymore, afraid that if he opened his mouth he would swear and cause the entire Cheng family to pay the price for his recklessness.

As a result of his concession, the man dragged him along the most bustling streets of the capital.

Even now, he can still recall the way the people on the street looked at him, their gloating mixed with pity, which later turned into envy and jealousy.

envious?

Damn it, he'd rather be pelted with rotten eggs than feel this envy!

Have the people of the capital all lost their minds?

Didn't you see that he was the one being forced?

Looking at the arrogant, grinning figure in front of her, Cheng Yuqing simply closed her eyes, preferring not to see it.

This city, like her, has been kicked in the head by a donkey. Why should he get angry and make things difficult for himself?

And so, Xiang Wan, in a high-profile manner, led her groom into Ziyun Palace, showing off their affection (walking the groom around), and even waved to the people before entering the gate.

The remaining crowd of onlookers simply found a spot outside the palace and squatted down, refusing to move. Soon, vendors selling snacks began to appear. The people ate and gossiped, enjoying their leisurely lives. Quite a few even developed a fondness for this unique princess of the Dayun Dynasty.

What a joke! Are any other princesses as approachable as theirs? Are any other princesses as commanding as theirs? Are any other princesses as considerate as theirs, going to such lengths to bring joy to the people?

Their princess cares so much about ordinary people, we absolutely cannot let her be punished! We have to stay here and see her come out safe and sound, otherwise we really won't feel at ease.

This inexplicable worry about his daughter being scolded even baffled the guards. They considered driving her away, but she hadn't caused any trouble or forced her way into the palace. Oh well, they decided to just pretend they didn't see anything and let them do their thing.

But with all those eyes fixed on them, the guards suddenly felt an immense pressure. What to do? They were sweating profusely!

Xiang Wan never imagined that her unintentional actions would cause such a sensation. She had only been kneeling for a while when she became somewhat displeased when the emperor did not summon her to get up.
