Once outside the room, Yun Jun didn't even glance at Xiang Wan.
I'm so angry!
He's all scared and terrified here, while the other guy acts like nothing's wrong, all smiles and smugness. If he's so capable, then don't make him pay the bill later!
Following the madam to the private room, Xiang Wan leaned closer and said mysteriously, "Second brother, I've come here to share your burdens. Why don't you understand my good intentions?"
Yun Jun continued drinking her tea, ignoring the attention.
Xiang Wan moved to the other side and lowered her voice, saying, "Guess who I saw in the madam's room?"
"Not some random man?" Yun Jun frowned.
"Purple robes and a golden crown, exceptional lightness skill, do you remember him?"
Yun Jun asked with a stern face, "Did you get a good look at his face?"
Xiang Wan was about to describe it when she thought about it again. If she really saw what the other person looked like, but wasn't she silenced? Wouldn't that be strange?
She shook her head. "I didn't see it clearly. I only vaguely saw that he seemed to have a black mole near his ear."
This was the only clue the system could provide that wasn't hidden by clothing. If they added that the person had a birthmark or a brand on their buttocks, Yun Jun probably wouldn't believe them, and she herself wouldn't be able to explain it.
She's gone to such lengths to lure him here, and she's made it so obvious. If Yun Jun still doesn't take it seriously, then he's truly not cut out to be an emperor.
"Don't tell anyone about this!"
Yun Jun's expression was serious, her eyes filled with warning.
Xiang Wan nodded solemnly, looking as obedient as could be. But Yun Jun saw through her act a moment later.
"You just said you'd share my burdens, but do you mean you want to bypass me and investigate on your own?"
Xiang Wan was speechless; she really hadn't expected Yun Jun to keep harping on her tantalizing remark.
"Brother, Miss Xue'er is the one I specially invited to help you out of your worries about your marriage."
"you--"
Yun Jun was so angry that she stood up and wanted to leave.
She invited the woman, but he's the one who has to pay for it. Doesn't she know that top courtesans spend lavishly? His meager monthly allowance isn't enough for anything, and he still has a huge mansion to maintain. She's not the kind of person who would cheat her brother like this.
Xiang Wan quickly stopped him and gently advised, "Brother, I'm doing this for your own good. Think about it, once you're married, will your sister-in-law not take care of you? Even if you want to come, it won't be easy for you. Besides, with such a remarkable reputation, don't you really want to see her charm? If you pass by without going in, won't you regret it later?"
Yun Jun was somewhat tempted, but she couldn't say it outright, so she could only say with a stern face, "To satisfy your curiosity, this is a one-time thing, and there won't be a next time."
"Okay, okay, I'll do whatever you say, alright?"
As the two were talking, the beaded curtain was lifted, and a beautiful woman in a gorgeous veil carrying a pipa entered the flower hall. Her figure was graceful, her steps were light, and her ten fingers were white and slender. Especially her face behind the veil had a breathtaking beauty in its hazy appearance, making people want to lift the curtain and see her face.
There was a faint fragrance in the air, and Xiang Wan's nostrils twitched as she quietly slowed her breathing.
"Gentlemen, I, Xue'er, greet you."
She's beautiful, and her voice is even more beautiful.
There was no movement for a while, so Xiang Wan couldn't help but quietly tug at Yun Jun's sleeve.
Yun Jun snapped out of her daze and said awkwardly, "Miss Xue'er truly lives up to her reputation as the queen of flowers. How about she perform a song to liven things up?"
Xiang Wan sighed, thinking to herself that her second brother was really straightforward and didn't want to waste any money.
Xue'er didn't say anything, but the maid beside her was somewhat displeased.
Normally, if someone invites a young lady down, they have to coax her with kind words and give her plenty of face and money before she will play a piece according to her mood. But these two are different; they want the young lady to play for them as soon as they meet. They really have no manners at all.
Xiang Wan smiled. Even if she knew what the maid was thinking, she wouldn't care. So what if she was the top courtesan? Wanting money without putting in the work? Did she really think she could make a fortune just with her looks?
Xue'er played a tender piece called "Peony Flower" for her, but unfortunately Yun Jun didn't appreciate it. She was only a novice and thought it sounded nice, but it was too sad.
"Miss Xue'er, can you play 'Ambush from Ten Sides'?"
Xue'er tightened her grip on the strings, and all sound ceased abruptly. Her fingertips dug into the strings, making Xiang Wan, a mere spectator, cry out in pain for her.
After a long silence, Xue'er's expression softened, and she said gently, "May I ask if you could demonstrate this piece for me, young master? I have never heard of this piece before."
That's good. I haven't heard of it.
Xiang Wan hummed it once, and the girl then tried to play it, making only slight modifications.
"I wonder if you would be willing to sell this piece to Xue'er? Xue'er is truly delighted with it."
I knew a woman like her must like music. Catering to her interests was the first step to getting closer to her.
"That's certainly possible, but I wonder if the expense will cover today's drinks?"
Xiang Wan asked shamelessly, without the slightest embarrassment, and even Cai Die's face began to flush.
Her princess will do anything to save money. A brothel? They can get a free meeting with the courtesan with just a lousy tune. If Miss Xue'er agreed, she'd be a fool.
The maidservant beside Xue'er thought the same thing, her disdain and eye-rolling were obvious.
Yun Jun silently moved the stool away from Xiang Wan, as if sitting further away from her would sever their relationship.
Xiang Wan had no intention of letting him off the hook. She turned her head and said, "If Miss Xue'er doesn't agree, why don't you leave my brother here as collateral, and I'll come back to redeem him later with the money?"
Xue'er was also stunned. She only wanted to buy the song, but she didn't expect the person in front of her to be so reckless. It meant that if she didn't buy the song, she would not only have to support another person, but also protect his safety and wait for him to come back to redeem him.
