"Good, very good!"
A storm was brewing in Irving's eyes. Xiang Wan thought for a moment and realized that he was taking his anger out on her.
For many years, their business had been running smoothly and peacefully. But recently, one after another, their hideouts were raided by the police.
At the time, he even sought help from the defending champion, who told him to be patient for the time being. But he didn't want such a good situation to be ruined like this, and he always suspected there was a mole within the organization. He punished many of his subordinates, but he still couldn't find the person.
Xiang Wan's words enlightened him: betraying information doesn't necessarily require an insider; a business partner can do it too.
Now, Irving has turned all his anger towards the Cui family.
“Go, and subtly reveal the Cui family’s secrets to the police. It’s not in my nature to retaliate.”
"yes."
His subordinates quickly went to assign tasks, while Owen remained standing in front of Xiang Wan.
“The Cui family is insatiable, and you’re no better. If you want me to take you away, you’ll have to offer something more valuable.”
Xiang Wan frowned, uncertainly asking, "Would it count as setting up a safety net?"
"continue."
"You know the White Horse Nightclub, right? Have you met the owner behind it?"
"Hmph, you know?" Owen didn't believe it.
Well, Xiang Wan herself didn't believe it, but she definitely knew it.
"Perhaps you've even crossed paths. But he knows me, and I don't know him. Our Manager Bai has mentioned him occasionally; his background is incredibly powerful, probably unmatched in the entire country. I didn't believe it at first, but after you said someone was looking for me, I started to think of this. Perhaps, not long now, his people will find this place. At that point, even if nothing is done, a fierce battle will be inevitable. Rather than a head-on confrontation, it's better to proactively ease tensions. Maybe, by finding a new backer, I can still stay in H City."
"Child's play!"
Irving's tone softened somewhat, and Xiang Wan pressed on.
"There's no harm in giving it a try. Maybe someone like Mr. Owen is just what he's looking for. Even a discerning eye needs a talented individual to prove their worth. Before leaving, we might be able to build a good relationship, which will be helpful when we return in the future."
"absurd."
After Irving left, Xiang Wan looked at the chair that had been split in two and shook her head with a sigh.
It seems she will have no choice but to condescend tonight and practice her cultivation while lying on the table.
On the top floor of the Lou's Building, He Yi looked anxiously at his boss, unsure of how to offer any advice.
He couldn't stand seeing him working like this, without sleep or rest, for several days straight.
He thought his good-for-nothing brother was insignificant, but who would have thought that once he disappeared, the boss would go crazy searching for him everywhere.
It's one thing to search for someone, but to make him send people to follow Cui Shiwan is another.
Is there any connection between these two things?
He shook his head, not wanting to think too much, yet hesitated to speak, afraid that his boss couldn't handle it.
"Go ahead and say it, I'm listening."
Lou Junxuan didn't even look up, but the weariness in his eyes was still noticeable even without He Yi's deliberate observation.
"Cui Shiwan has remained secluded at home, and there is still no news about Lou Xiang... your brother."
"Understood. Keep an eye on that woman. Don't stop searching for her."
Lou Junxuan closed the documents in his hand, leaned back in his executive chair, and closed his eyes to rest.
He Yiyi walked out of the office with interest, gently closing the door behind him.
He planned to find another group of people to search for the person, because the news from Guan Xin'an and the others seemed to suggest that they hadn't tried their best. He hoped that this was just a misperception.
Xiang Wan was actually on the floor below the underground bar, but because the entrance was different, few people would notice.
That night, Irving had his men take Xiang Wan for a long walk outside before leading her into a bar.
This tactic of deliberately confusing her judgment is nothing new; it simply made Xiang Wan more certain of Owen's next decision.
When Xiang Wan tentatively sat down on the sofa chair in front of the club owner, the people at the nearby tables all turned to look at her. Their gazes were sharp, as if she were sitting on a guillotine rather than a chair.
Irving was watching from a short distance away, probably not expecting that the person Xiang Wan had chosen was someone he had actually met before.
"Boss, do you need any service?"
Some people around stood up, but seeing the man in front of Xiang Wan wave his hand, they sat back down.
The person in front of him was about the same age as Lou Junxuan. He had an unapproachable air about him, but his face was unremarkable and he looked very low-key.
The man didn't smoke. He took out a piece of chewing gum from his pocket, chewed it, looked Xiang Wan up and down, and asked with a cryptic expression, "What kind of service?"
Xiang Wan blushed slightly and stammered, "Massage."
Sneers rang out, and the disdainful glances from those around them were quite evident.
Opinions on this matter vary. She really was giving massages, but in the eyes of these people, it seemed like she was offering herself up for sex.
"Boss, I was sent by Mr. Owen. He wants to speak with you privately."
Xiang Wan gestured with her eyes, and the man followed her gaze, meeting Owen's eyes. Owen nodded at him, and the man remained noncommittal, turning back to say, "You're not telling the truth."
A group of people quickly surrounded Xiang Wan, and Owen stood up, watching the commotion closely.
"He couldn't possibly know me, and neither could you. Remember last time, you came with two other people. You've changed your mind so quickly, huh?"
Xiang Wan was surprised for a moment, but quickly regained her composure. It seemed this person was more troublesome than she had imagined.
“As long as I haven’t resigned, the club has a responsibility to protect my personal safety. Several days have passed, and the boss’s people haven’t come over, so I have to take the initiative. Boss, do you still intend to keep an employee like me?”
The man in front of her reached out and patted Xiang Wan's cheek, saying, "Those who are too clever often die faster. But you're right about one thing: only I can deal with my people. Let's go!"
Xiang Wan glanced at Owen, then obediently followed the man outside.
They were stopped before they even reached the door.
"Sir, seeing is believing, why don't we meet and talk?"
Irving brought quite a few men with him, probably twice as many as the low-key man's men.
"Testing the waters? Hmph, Kyrie Irving? What right do you have to talk to me!"
As soon as the unassuming man finished speaking, the people around him immediately assumed attack stances.
Owen's expression was somewhat grim. His intention wasn't to get into a conflict. He just knew that letting Xiang Wan go with them like this wouldn't work.
"It's fine if we don't talk, he can stay."
What if I say no?
"Then don't blame me for being impolite, make your move!"
The bar erupted into chaos instantly. Xiang Wan dodged and weaved, stealthily making his way to the restroom. He reached for the toilet tank at the far end, retrieved his belongings, quickly changed his face and hair accessories, then dragged over a waiter, knocked him unconscious, and stripped him of his clothes, putting them on himself. Before leaving, he placed the waiter on the toilet, locked the door from the inside, climbed out, and quietly slipped away amidst the chaos.
Unable to return to either the school or her rented apartment, Xiang Wan grabbed a few things and disappeared into the vast crowd.
Without Lou Xiangwan, many things could proceed smoothly.
