Chapter 527 The Path of Ghosts (The End)

Perhaps she had been living a life of ease for too long, because Xiang Wan had been having nightmares lately. In her dreams, there were fragmented faces, and she couldn't make out their overall features. But when she woke up, she was always in tears, and her heart would clench with sharp pains—the kind of pain that came from extreme sadness, which she could clearly distinguish.

After careful recollection, the person in her dream—their eyes, nose, and mouth—looked very familiar, yet they weren't someone she knew. Or perhaps, she had experienced so much that she might have seen them before.

As the two-year deadline drew closer, Xiang Wan's dreams became more and more frequent, causing her some distress.

When she's alone, she often thinks about her parents in the real world, and then about the person she longs for. But lately, she's found that the face of that person in her heart is becoming increasingly blurry, which makes her very uneasy.

The mission in this world should have been completed in theory. Killing Shen Beiming, killing Yang Sheng, establishing the Sanqing Sect, and spreading the Daoist teachings—she had accomplished all of these. Why then was the system still silent and dormant? This was truly perplexing.

That day, Tu Hongye, dressed in fine clothes, stood before Xiang Wan and said to her, "Master, my beloved is waiting for me at the appointed place. The Three Pure Ones Sect has been handed over to a new leader, and I only wish to spend the rest of my life with him. Master, would you like to go and see him?"

Tu Hongye's new outfit is incredibly stylish, a far cry from his previous old-fashioned attire.

Well then, it's time to leave.

Xiang Wan nodded and left with him in the carriage.

She thought the journey wouldn't be too far. But to travel for two or three months at a time seemed like an incredibly long trip.

“Master, he is waiting for me on an island overseas. We have already made arrangements. If Master doesn’t mind, we can live together.”

Xiang Wan wanted to experience the days of seclusion, so she went with him.

Upon reaching the island and landing, the ship was destroyed.

The truth that Xiang Wan was extremely unwilling to admit was laid bare before her, leaving her somewhat annoyed and bewildered.

"Host, this is the original owner's last wish in the mission. This system didn't tell you because it was afraid you'd overthink it. And," 007 paused, then said, "the original owner was reborn in that life."

No wonder, her last wish was to accompany Tu Hongye to the end. Perhaps something must have happened between Tu Hongye and her in the original owner's world to make her have such a wish.

"The fragment of his soul is with him, isn't it?"

The system remained silent, and Xiang Wan lowered her eyes.

Even though he had already guessed it, the thought of her being with the apprentice he had raised was still a bit hard to accept.

Once settled on the island's beach, Tu Hongye deftly took off his clothes and caught a fish from the sea.

Seeing him busy on the beach, sweating profusely, Xiang Wan felt relieved.

As long as it's still him, what's there to worry about?

However, the fact that Tu Hongye had told Liu Qingshui about her hidden illness had become common knowledge throughout the country over the past six years, so he couldn't be allowed to get his way so easily.

While eating the fish, Xiang Wan secretly added a drug powder.

As night fell, Xiang Wan was half asleep when she felt a figure pressing down on her. When she opened her eyes, she saw a deep, oppressive gaze fixed on her.

"Master, there's a ghost on your head!"

There's a ghost, a huge lecherous ghost! Even the medicine powder can't suppress it!
