"Where are you taking me?" Feng Jiutian asked weakly.
"Go where you're supposed to be." Xiang Wan said without turning her head.
“Zi Yan, I told you, I will go with you.” Feng Jiutian insisted.
"Will you come with me to my death? But I don't want to die," Xiang Wan said coldly.
"Why..." Feng Jiutian asked, puzzled.
“Even ants try to survive, so why can’t I? Is it because I was born and raised by nature, and am different from them?” Xiang Wan retorted.
“They…are just afraid,” Feng Jiutian said sadly.
"Ha, you're quite good at making excuses. They're afraid, I'm not afraid, and you're not afraid either?" Xiang Wan mocked.
"I'm just afraid I won't be able to protect you."
Who would believe that?
"Enough! You've never thought about protecting me, so why bother putting on an act in front of me?" Xiang Wan said coldly.
He showed no protection whatsoever for the original owner of this body; his coldness and indifference stemmed from a lack of love. Now, even with love, it still couldn't compare to the sense of justice he held in his heart. This was enough to reduce all his passion to ashes.
"What you've been protecting is merely your own self-righteous path, and those you uphold are cowards who fear death and repay kindness with enmity. The only truly great master is your master, Immortal Kan Yun. Do you know why no one has been able to rival your master all these years? Because their hearts are too narrow. And your master has made no progress because his heart has always been preoccupied with you. Great love knows no bounds; one must love all people in the world to become an immortal or a god. The ultimate ruthlessness is compassion. Unfortunately, you cannot see through this, nor can you do it, so you will forever remain at the Saint Infant stage."
Do you think they're really just afraid of me?
"The world is bustling with activity, all for profit. You understand the principle that no one gets up early without a reason better than I do, yet you choose to believe such nonsense. If you insist on protecting me, believe me, they will only use you as a sacrifice, and even if Immortal Kan Yun were to emerge from seclusion, he would be unable to stop it. Because they have an excuse, a reason, and they occupy the moral high ground. No matter how strong you are, how can you withstand a pack of wolves?"
“I don’t believe your master doesn’t know what happened at Yijing Sect. All the peak masters have come, but your master is the only one who hasn’t. Do you think he’s really in seclusion?”
"You took me up the mountain to become your disciple, but he wouldn't accept me. I took you away, and he didn't stop me. Have you ever thought about what this means?"
After finding a secluded mountain cave, Xiang Wan put Feng Jiutian down on the ground, sat down beside him and talked to him, while using her spiritual sense to explore the surroundings.
Feng Jiutian wasn't stupid; he should have understood these principles long ago. He wanted to play dumb, but Xiang Wan wouldn't let him have his way.
“Over the years I’ve been by your side, I’ve always wondered what happened to you that led to this seal. After what happened at the First Realm Sect, I have a general idea that you may have committed some heinous crime in the past, and someone sealed your cultivation and memories to protect you.”
Feng Jiutian suddenly looked up, his gaze towards Xiang Wan gradually becoming serious.
How do you know all this?
"You've forgotten that we once practiced dual cultivation together."
"So, you want to help me break the seal?"
Why would I do this?
"Because I've already fallen in love with you, no matter how much I resist, that's an undeniable fact. And what you want is in my memory, isn't it?"
Xiang Wan glanced sideways, originally thinking that Feng Jiutian, being a man of few words, wouldn't have thought of this so quickly. She hadn't expected it!
"You sensed it the moment I approached you, didn't you? Why did you still fall into the trap I set?"
"I thought that as long as one's Dao heart is firm, one has nothing to fear." Feng Jiutian's words were filled with helplessness, but without regret.
Xiang Wan smiled, thinking to herself, if he knew what he had done to the original owner in his past life, she wondered how he would feel.
"But I don't believe you, just as you don't believe your own instincts."
Feng Jiutian didn't continue the topic, but instead asked, "What will you do with them in ten days?"
Ha, even now, they still care about the so-called common people.
"Why don't you tell me how they will treat me? I haven't murdered anyone for money, nor have I done anything immoral. If I still end up being condemned by everyone, cursed by thousands, and dying without a burial place, then Heaven has been unjust to me. If it's unjust, then let's tear it down and rebuild it. What do you think?"
"I'm afraid you don't have that ability."
"Why not give it a try?"
The conversation ended abruptly there.
If words fail to reach a consensus, Xiang Wan fears she might lose her temper and hasten Feng Jiutian's demise.
Ten days, each day to a secluded spot on the continent of gods and demons, to do something clandestine. Finally, return to the Demon Abyss; there will be plenty of time.
Feng Jiutian was teleported away by Xiang Wan, leaving him little time to recover his spiritual energy. Even if he landed to rest, the place would be extremely devoid of spiritual energy, offering no benefit other than a short rest to replenish his strength.
Before going to the Demon Abyss, Xiang Wan took Feng Jiutian to Yuzhi Mountain.
Needless to say, Feng Jiutian was even less suited to the climate here.
Bai Yan appeared in front of her instantly the moment she blew the Demon Bone Whistle.
Xiang Wan had a private conversation with her for a while, and then left.
Upon landing in the Demon Abyss again, Feng Jiutian no longer had the spiritual power to support his flight.
"Tomorrow will be the end of everything, and also a new beginning. Feng Jiutian, perhaps, these will be the last days we spend together. Do you believe it?"
Feng Jiutian stared silently at the Purple Flame Pool, which was now a skeleton compared to when he left.
At the Yijing Sect, Wu Tan stood in front of Kan Yun's cave dwelling, pleading with him to come out of seclusion.
The Puppet Sect has mobilized all its capable experts, who are ready to go. The only elders remaining are Qiaoyin and another Mahayana stage expert.
The Beast Taming Sect unleashed a multitude of spirit beasts and magical creatures, covering the mountains and plains.
In the Sound Wave Hall, Feng Qinglan gathered her disciples together, as if setting up a living demon-trapping array.
Other sects were not uninvolved either.
All the sects on the continent of gods and demons are eager to make their move, waiting for tomorrow's decisive battle.
Those who stayed behind all wore expressions of worry. Those who were preparing to depart were all filled with righteous indignation.
Heaven has allowed the gods to enjoy their glory for too long; it's time for a great purge.
The next morning, all the sects and factions rushed to the desolate land. The demons who lived on Jade Mountain also mobilized, disguising themselves and heading in different directions.
Kan Yun's cave on Qingyun Peak was finally opened, and a figure with an air of otherworldly grace emerged.
"The Mandate of Heaven cannot be defied! From this day forward, the One Realm Sect will lie dormant for ten thousand years. This is my final advice to you all."
After speaking, the figure disappeared from the spot.
Wu Qin ultimately did not leave the mountain, but instead sent elite disciples from other peaks to accompany the elders as they departed.
Once they left Yijing Sect, he activated the protective array, completely concealing Yijing Sect from the world.
The Abyss of Demons.
The flames in the Purple Flame Pool suddenly intensified.
With a wave of her hands, Xiang Wan shot streams of purple flames toward the cave entrance above.
What's meant to come will come; there's no escaping it, and nothing can change it.
At worst, they would all perish together, but she was neither afraid nor dreadful.
