Chapter 592 Alien Battlefield (Seventeen)

Before breaking through the protective shield of the base and escaping into space, Xiang Wan had already loaded all the weapons that Su Fu'ao had taken onto the ship. However, she did not shut down the peace messages that were regularly sent from the base to the outside world. Instead, she edited a signal that there was an anomaly at the base and sent it to the headquarters of this star system through the military channel.

There's something amiss here; Osa will definitely send ships over. Only when they arrive and discover the situation on Red Star will Xiang Wan and the others have a chance to travel to another star system through the black hole they're stationed in.

There are tens of thousands of light-years between galaxies. If they don't cross the black hole, Xiang Wan and the others might die of old age without ever reaching their destination.

After setting the route, Xiang Wan ordered Gray to shut down all communication devices, even reducing the most basic coordinate positioning to the extreme.

They are now essentially drifting in space, unconsciously heading towards a black hole.

The Gladys has enough nutrient solution to allow them to travel between various star systems.

After leaving the main control room, Xiang Wan saw Song Yang and the others sitting in the lounge, each with a different expression.

Upon seeing her arrive, everyone turned their attention to her.

What are your plans for the future?

The ship's dining room and lounge rotate along its hull, simulating gravity, allowing for upright walking, and providing views of space. After all, every flight is a tedious and long journey; without a place to relax, it would probably drive people crazy in no time.

“Lassie, I don’t know. It all happened so suddenly. My parents, my sisters, they’re all dead. I really don’t know where else I can go if I leave here.” Rose’s eyes were slightly red, and her voice was a little low.

When Rose's family came to Red Star, it was a relocation, and no one expected that this would be their final resting place.

Xiang Wan remained silent. She had thought that someone as outgoing as Rose wouldn't show such emotions. Perhaps the current environment was too comfortable, allowing her to lower her guard.

He silently reached out and took Rose's hand. He didn't speak; everything was understood without words.

Takagi spoke up: "Now that you know this secret, will you let us leave?"

Upon hearing this, everyone looked at Takagi with some surprise, and then at Xiang Wan, seemingly unable to believe that a child like Xiang Wan, who was only a teenager, would actually leave all of them behind, just as Takagi had said.

George stood up angrily and yelled at Takagi, "Don't falsely accuse the captain, she's not that kind of person."

"Tch, how long have you known her? Kid, you need to think this way about everything, or you won't even know how you died." Takagi tapped his head lightly with his index finger and sneered.

Xiang Wan didn't interrupt, but focused her gaze on Song Yang.

Jean and Rose are together, George is more naive, and Takagi has developed ulterior motives. Now, it all depends on what Song Yang says.

“I think that without Lacey, we would probably just be waiting to die in Red Star. I was all alone anyway, it would have been the same no matter where I went. She saved my life, so I will unconditionally obey Lacey’s decision.”

In this environment, Song Yang knew perfectly well who could lead everyone to fight their way out. Leaving aside the fact that she had saved his life earlier, just watching her lead everyone to escape, fight the enemy, and seize ships—no one here possessed Lacey's decisiveness and foresight. Courage and vision are not determined by age. In his heart, there were no age limits; as long as someone earned his respect, he would not easily betray them.

Song Yang's words were a wake-up call for Rang.

Whether he acknowledged it or not, it was Xiang Wan who led him out of the near-death situation on Red Star and brought him and Rose onto this ship. If he were still the leader, he would probably be cowering in some corner of Red Star, waiting to die or be torn apart by those mutated behemoths.

He turned to look at Rose, and seeing her affirmative look, his face flushed. He touched his nose and said, "Well, I have no objection to Lacey being the captain."

“Me too,” Rose chimed in at the opportune moment.

George raised his chin, rolled his eyes at Takagi, and said, "She was the captain all along."

Seeing that Song Yang and the others were in agreement, Takagi changed the subject, saying, "We're talking about future plans now. Lacey is indeed our captain for now, I admit that, but what about later? We can't live on this ship forever, can we?"

"When ships traverse star systems, they need resupply and maintenance. We also need to communicate with the outside world. Perhaps the military didn't intentionally abandon Red Star, but rather there have been unforeseen circumstances. These are all unpredictable. Have you considered these issues?"

“Why don’t you say,” Xiang Wan interjected, “what if we die on the road?”

Takagi was speechless, because what Xiang Wan said was a very likely scenario.

"If you really trust the military that much, why didn't you stay at the base just now? All this talk is probably just an excuse for your own selfish motives, isn't it?"

Enraged that Xiang Wan had seen through his thoughts, Gao Mu stood up and said indignantly, "Lassie, I'm just stating the facts."

"I'm just stating the facts."

"What you're saying is that you're taking us to a place like the Dark Galaxy, a place of no return. I won't stop you from going to your death, but you can't decide where I go."

"You've been to the Dark Galaxy?" Xiang Wan avoided the main point and seized on the loophole in his words.

The only people who know that the Dark Galaxy is a place of no return are its guards and those who have been there before. Ordinary people like Song Yang, besides having heard the name "Dark Galaxy," who truly understands what it is?
