After rounding another spatial collapse, the Glen turned off all the ship's lights and other equipment, and slowly moved forward by inertia.
Because the surrounding space was unstable, the ships dared not use space radar anymore, as even if they did, the signals would be chaotic and unable to lock onto targets. The only usable method was beams, relying on vision to determine the surrounding objects.
As mentioned earlier, there is no light in dark galaxies, but it is possible to generate light.
One ship activated all its lights, raised its cannons, and fired at a distant meteorite, hoping it would collide with another meteorite, causing an explosion and creating a flash of light.
Xiang Wan made no move, quietly observing their actions. She wondered how much energy those ships still had left.
By getting close to the meteorite and floating along with it, the Glen quickly discovered a hidden passage.
The Imprisoned Underworld is less built on a planet and more inside a colossal meteorite. Meteorites are mobile, and their trajectories are unpredictable; finding them is entirely a matter of luck for ordinary ships.
The military hasn't set foot here for many years, and unless the Imprisonment Hell itself emits light to indicate its location, it's very difficult for outsiders to find it.
The system has put in a lot of effort in this regard, which can be considered as paying the price for its previous terrible behavior.
Bypassing the meteorites, Xiang Wan suddenly accelerated the Gray and rushed into the passageway that imprisoned the Underworld.
An unidentified vessel intruded, and alarms sounded in the Imprisonment Bottom. For the first time in nearly a century, the people living there, who never saw the light of day, had hope.
"Now!"
At Philin's command, all the guards rushed to the guard post and pinned the two guards to the ground. Someone quickly turned off the alarm button and then opened all the cell doors.
Some of them were former political figures, some were once-renowned scientists, and some were top figures in their respective fields. They were exiled here because they disagreed with some of the directives of the current Earth leader.
The military didn't execute them; they were simply left to fend for themselves. Little did they know that waiting for death with no hope was the cruelest punishment for them. Many died, succumbing to despair, only to be reawakened. Those who persevered relied on their last remaining willpower, waiting for that almost nonexistent hope of survival.
Fortunately, it finally arrived.
When Xiang Wan and the others suspended the Gray at the end of the passage, she saw countless faces looking through the glass in the surrounding caves. Some were old, some were young, but without exception, their eyes shone with a long-lost light.
Who are you?
Phil's voice came through the communication channel of the Gray, and Xiang Wan took out the chip hanging on her chest and replied, "I will live up to your expectations."
Philin was somewhat excited, never expecting that the thing he had casually entrusted to a soldier a century ago before he felt he was about to be detained would actually have a response.
"Are you on my side?"
"I stand on the side of all humanity on Earth."
"good!"
At a command, the revolving door at the end of the passage slowly opened, revealing a passage surrounded by light on all sides.
The Glen flew in, and the passage was then closed.
After disembarking from the ship, Xiang Wan saw the people being held captive there. They were all pale-faced, with transparent hair, and wore close-fitting white protective suits, with transparent glass domes covering their heads.
Looking up and around, one could see that the surrounding walls were covered with countless transparent crystal coffins, each containing a naked human body, densely packed and stretching as far as the eye could see.
Song Yang and his men, armed with weapons, remained vigilant around those who might attempt to seize the ship.
Indeed, having gone through so much, everyone understands the unpredictability of human nature. Without their ships, they would simply be left here to die.
Even though Philin became the leader of Earth, Xiang Wan dared not underestimate him. People's hearts are fickle, and after being imprisoned here for so long, who knows if he will still maintain his original intentions.
“Child, don’t be nervous. If I wanted to harm you, I wouldn’t have let you in.” Philin said with a kind expression.
"When you sent the chip away, weren't you afraid you wouldn't be able to wait for someone to come and rescue you?"
"If you hadn't come, I believe there would be no place left for humankind on Earth to live outside."
Are you so sure?
"Not everyone would do something so inhumane."
Why not stop it?
"A single wrong decision. Now, I want to make amends, but is it too late?"
"It's never too late if you want to do it."
Song Yang, Rang, and Rose were left to guard the ships, while Xiang Wan and Gao Mu accompanied Fei Lin into the Imprisonment Bottom.
The so-called confinement involves the infinite replication of the human body. When one body dies, its brain is surgically removed and placed into another body. Each body then follows the laws of nature until it dies of old age.
So there are an infinite number of people here, because they are all substitutes. There will also be no shortage of people, because their brains will remain forever, just like souls imprisoned in shells, never able to find peace, forever living helplessly and endlessly.
The dominant force here is the intelligent bio-optical brain; the two guards are merely there to make a show of things.
After waiting for so long, the intelligent bio-computer developed self-awareness and reached a deal with Felin. She helped them escape, and they helped her gain her freedom.
Unlimited replication requires energy and replenishment. Long before the nutrient solution left by the military was exhausted, the intelligent bio-computer had already found a way to replenish itself, but this method was rather cruel, and apart from a few determined individuals like Felin, everyone else was kept in the dark.
Now, Feilin has finally met Xiang Wan, but with so many people here, it's impossible for Xiang Wan's single ship to take them all away.
“Child, I believe you, and I hope you believe me too. You lured those ships outside, didn’t you? Why don’t we lure them here and let them willingly take us all away?”
Phil made it sound so easy, but getting those people to surrender willingly was no easy feat.
“They are soldiers; they won’t take in people imprisoned in the dungeon for no reason.”
"As long as the supreme commander of the military remains Filin, they must obey."
Xiang Wan glanced at the film now, and it looked vastly different from the Earth's leader on the video.
Philin smiled slowly and said, "It's alright. With her here, I am the current leader of Earth, and there is no one else like her."
Xiang Wan was somewhat skeptical. Having been imprisoned for so long and unaware of the outside world, how could she possibly convince those people with just a few words?
However, she was quickly proven wrong. The soldiers' attitude towards the Earth's leader was far more respectful than she had imagined.
"Earth's soldiers, you are now contributing to humanity in the Dark Galaxy, and your efforts are worthy of respect. Now, I order you to take all the experimental subjects imprisoned in the Underworld out. Interstellar war is about to break out, and these are our bargaining chips against other civilizations. The pioneers have already led the way; obedience is your only choice!"
