The siren encountered a great white shark, several times its size.
Great white sharks swim incredibly fast and will open their mouths to bite sirens. Their mouths are covered in barbs, and if a siren is bitten, it will be its end.
The shark had six gills. The siren swept past the great white shark's mouth, grabbed one of its gill lines with both hands, and tore the gills apart without hesitation.
The great white shark, in pain, twisted its body in an attempt to shake the siren off, but the siren was too agile and grabbed another gill line, repeating the same trick.
As more blood flowed, the great white shark went somewhat mad, repeatedly ramming its body against the reef, trying to knock the siren off.
Its small size proved advantageous at this moment. The siren burrowed into the great white shark's gills before impacting it, and began causing destruction from within.
The great white shark had no choice but to keep opening its mouth and swallowing everything it could, but it still couldn't shake off the siren's entanglement and had to struggle to swim to the surface.
The siren couldn't go too far, so it crawled out of the shark's body and headed towards the old clam.
Meanwhile, the octopus wasn't faring much better. A deep-sea giant toothed fish, appearing out of nowhere, was gnawing at its tentacles, causing it to writhe in pain.
The giant toothed fish are not large, but there are a great many of them. If it weren't for their octopus relatives guarding the old clam, the giant toothed fish would probably have already gnawed a big hole in it.
The old sea turtle waved its four legs to drive away the large fish that came attracted by the smell of blood, but it was powerless against the smaller ones.
The siren continued blowing its conch shell, then joined the battle. It easily dispatched any fish that approached the old clam, catching them one by one.
The seawater had turned blood red, and visibility on the seabed had been severely reduced. The sirens could only rely on the movement of the water to tear apart any fish that came near them.
The fish swarmed endlessly, and to make matters worse, it seemed a giant deep-sea monster was swimming towards them. The siren had caught a whiff of its putrid, fishy stench.
"Click-clack"
The cracking sound of bones moving could be heard even from several nautical miles away. The siren clearly felt the old sea turtle's body tremble, and then it retracted its head and four legs into its shell.
At this point, the old sea turtle had not yet escaped, and the siren was already very grateful.
The behemoth that arrived was a giant sea dragon from the deepest abyss beside an underwater volcano. It was a hundred meters long, with horns on its head, its body covered in scales, and it had a hundred sharp claws.
These giant sea dragons rarely appear, usually sleeping in their dens and occasionally venturing out to hunt large creatures like whales. Their current appearance is likely due to the stench of blood in the seawater and the fragrance emanating from Xiang Wan's body.
Its temperament is very eccentric, and the Sirens rarely interact with it. In addition, it is huge and naturally won't listen to any advice, and is used to doing things its own way.
The sea dragon swam around the old turtle, then swam back and landed not far from it, its eyes fixed on the giant sea turtle.
With the sea dragon there, other fish dared not come any closer, and for a time, the seabed became quiet.
The sea dragon raised its head, sniffed around, and then focused its gaze on the area under the sea turtle.
"What's down there? It smells delicious."
The sea dragon suddenly spoke with its mental power, startling the old sea turtle. It had thought the giant beast would simply open its mouth and swallow it whole.
The old sea turtle didn't dare to reply. The siren ran up to the sea dragon and asked warily, "What do you want to do?"
"A little mermaid? Why are you so nervous? Could it be a female mermaid laying eggs?"
Egg?
The sirens felt humiliated.
Although he didn't know how he came to be, he did know that mermaids don't lay eggs. To lump him together with ordinary fish was a gross oversimplification on the part of this sea dragon.
Given the difference in size, the Siren did not provoke her, but calmly said, "I wonder if you have ever heard of the guardian deity of the water tribes?"
"Ha, hahaha, a guardian deity? Hahahaha..."
Hailong's laughter was so loud that it jolted Xiangwan, who had fainted from the pain, back to reality.
Bathed in the soft light of the pearls, Xiang Wan clearly saw transparent fins growing from the outside of her arms, and her legs already joined together from below her waist. Water trickled down her cheeks, and the pain from her stretched jaws made her dizzy.
To be awake and watch helplessly as you gradually turn into a mermaid is an agony that can only be described as excruciating.
Hearing the tone of the system when it tricked her into eating the bead, Xiang Wan felt like tearing the system to pieces.
Xiao Qi told her that eating the bead would turn her into a mermaid, but she didn't say it would hurt this much! She thought it was like in fantasy dramas, where you just transform and that's it. Turns out, she has to undergo physical modifications. Seriously!
Before the transformation was even complete, the giant sea monster arrived, and whether her life was safe was a question. Xiang Wan once again lamented the unreliability of the system, and what she couldn't tolerate the most was that she had actually believed it.
But considering what the system said about the cheat codes that would be available after becoming a mermaid, Xiang Wan decided to tolerate it.
The worlds I've been traveling to lately are all incredibly brutal; without some skills, I really can't guarantee the success of my missions.
So, I'll make a note of this to the system first, and then come back to settle accounts with it later.
While silently cursing the system and enduring the pain, Xiang Wan clearly heard the sea dragon mocking the sirens.
"You actually believe this absurd nonsense meant to fool fish babies? If someone like me can't even protect my dragon clan, who can protect the entire aquatic race?"
As Hailong spoke, his tone changed, seemingly filled with extreme disdain and hatred. His swaying tail stirred up an undercurrent on the seabed.
The siren understood the hidden meaning in the sea dragon's words and then asked, "The dragon race, were they also wiped out?"
