Chapter 627 Vampire Hunter (Part Six)

“Your Highness, this human is so rude, daring to occupy your coffin and even attempting to assassinate me. Why not hand him over to me, and I guarantee he will disappear without a trace.”

Simon had a cold face and exuded a chilling aura.

In his mind, humans were nothing more than short-lived and fragile creatures, how could they be compared to his noble vampire race? The prince had already shown great mercy by sparing his life, yet this human had the audacity to want to sleep in the prince's coffin.

Thinking of this, Simon felt immense regret for not staying by the prince's side. If he hadn't, how could he have given this human the chance to remain here?

Audra lay drowsily on the throne in the great hall, seemingly oblivious to Simon's words, propping his head up as he drifted off into thought.

Without saying a word, Simon took it as a tacit agreement, opened his mouth, revealing two sharp teeth, and reached out to grab at Wan.

After all that commotion, all sleepiness was gone. With her life at stake, Xiang Wan immediately rolled out of the coffin, conjured ice needles from all ten of her fingers, and shot them at Simon when the opportunity arose.

Although Simon was not a nobleman, his strength was formidable, far surpassing that of the blood servants. His attacks were lightning-fast and deadly. In his presence, Xiang Wan could only dodge and protect her vitals.

In less than ten rounds, Xiang Wan had no chance to fight back. She barely managed to cover the vulnerable parts of her body with ice before Simon grabbed her and opened his mouth to bite her.

At this moment, Xiang Wan used all her mental energy to unleash her dream-making technique to its fullest extent as Simon touched her skin, sending it into his mind.

The dream-weaving technique works most effectively when the target is off guard or unable to resist. To be honest, she wasn't sure if Simon would fall for it, but she needed to buy time.

Simon was stunned for a moment, and Xiang Wan had already prepared the ice pick, aiming it at his heart.

She left no room for error in this move, as her energy was nearly depleted. If she failed, she would be at the mercy of her opponent. It was a do-or-die situation, and this moment was crucial.

However, after the ice pick pierced a little, it could not go any further. Then, Xiang Wan watched helplessly as she was sent flying backward, crashing into the wall and landing on the ground, spitting out several mouthfuls of blood.

Looking up, he saw Audra raise his hand and slap Simon on the forehead. The captain of the guard, who was trapped in a dream, instantly woke up and stood to the side with his head down.

Audra pulled out a white handkerchief from who-knows-where, wiped all ten fingers clean, tossed it aside, glanced at Xiang Wan, frowned slightly, and instantly returned to his throne.

"Simon, do you know you're wrong?"

Simon's scalp tightened, and he immediately knelt on one knee, confessing, "I am guilty. I shouldn't have let the Prince deal with a mere human. Please punish me, Your Highness!"

The conversation still revolved around her. Xiang Wan wanted to laugh, but her chest hurt, so she couldn't. She coughed up blood several times.

Audra stared intently at Simon for a few moments, tapping his fingers lightly on the armrest. His eyes narrowed, and he said coldly, "You've been by my side for so long, yet you haven't improved at all. If I hadn't intervened in time, would you still be standing here? Think carefully about your duties and figure out where you went wrong. Cripple one of your arms and one of your legs and go stay in the snake pool. Come out when you've figured things out."

Simon trembled, his hands shaking so badly he almost forgot how to bow, but he still quickly replied, "Yes, Your Highness."

After answering those words, Simon felt as if his body wasn't even part of him; his limbs seemed to have lost their grip, and a sense of desolation and disappointment emanated from within him, like that of an abandoned puppy.

Having served the prince for so long, Simon had grown accustomed to being punished or assigned difficult tasks, so he didn't feel he had done anything wrong. This time was no different; he believed that as long as he killed this human and prevented him from getting in the prince's way, he was willing to endure any severe punishment.

But to his utter surprise, this human, whom he considered so frail, was actually able to fight back, even nearly delivering a heavy blow. It was normal for the prince to be angry, but for him, a high-ranking guard captain, to experience the punishment of a blood servant was something he simply couldn't accept. The only explanation was that he had been utterly incompetent, losing face as a guard captain in front of the prince, who was so enraged that he had forgotten his place. This human was still alive; he absolutely couldn't disobey the prince's wishes. He had to wait for him to emerge, just wait for him to come out…

"Leave the things you're handling to Tina for now."

Audra had even made arrangements for what would happen after he was punished. Simon turned pale, bowed his head in agreement, and quickly left the hall.

As he left, he glanced quickly at Xiang Wan, a cruel sneer appearing on his lips.

In the silent hall, only Xiang Wan lay on the ground, breathing heavily, interspersed with a cough or two.

With Audra's skill, this palm strike could have easily killed Xiang Wan. But now, it's barely better than death. This is the consequence of a vast disparity in strength; life and death are no longer in one's own hands.

After complaining about the system's unreliability once again, Xiang Wan slowly calmed her mind, adjusted her internal energy, and suppressed the pain in her chest.

Audra seemed lost in thought, remaining silent and motionless since Simon left.

After adjusting her inner energy, Xiang Wan sat up and looked up at the throne, only to meet Audra's gaze. Startled, she coughed several times.

Judging from this, Audra had been watching her all along, but Xiang Wan hadn't noticed. So, all her little actions must have caught his eye.

Xiang Wan coughed lightly and said calmly, "Your Highness, in the entire castle, only your coffin is truly safe. I should have informed you before lying down in it, I apologize."

Audra chuckled softly. "Are you really not afraid of death?"

“Korde,” Xiang Wan quickly said, taking advantage of his good mood, “you said I had the right to let you know my name. So now, do I have the right to live in your castle?”

Even the Chief of the Guard could put up a fight. Since staying behind would be useful to Audra, it's time to fight for some benefits for ourselves.

After last night's fierce battle, Xiang Wan felt her internal energy flow much more smoothly after circulating the Frostbite Technique again, and even her mental strength had increased slightly. Perhaps this was the original owner's potential, but he had always lived in a stable environment and had no opportunity to struggle on the brink of life and death, so he had no way to improve his abilities.

It was only when dealing with Simon that Xiang Wan realized her strength had increased. She didn't know if Audra did it intentionally or by accident, but she had discovered a way to rapidly improve her strength. If it was premeditated, then Audra's abilities were probably far beyond Xiang Wan's imagination. In his hands, she feared she wouldn't have a single trump card left, except for the system.

Survival is always cruel. Whether you live or not depends entirely on yourself.

Before Xiang Wan could react after saying that, she found herself in a stinking pit surrounded by snakes.
