"Hey, old man, when you go inside, don't say anything out of line, lest our daughter hears you and gets upset."
"I know, I know, I don't say much. But you, don't look so gloomy. Anyone who doesn't know better would think something's wrong with our daughter."
"Go away, you talk too much."
The elderly couple were whispering to each other outside the ward, which Xiang Wan had seen a while ago.
She put her phone aside and called out loudly, "Mom and Dad, come in quickly, I'm starving!"
"Hey, here it comes."
Xiang's father and mother pushed open the door and came in, their hands full of things.
Xiang Wan remembered to help them get some things, but her mother walked over to her first and pressed down on her shoulder.
"Don't move around, or you'll drop the needle."
It was only then that Xiang Wan noticed that the IV tube on the back of her hand was showing signs of blood returning to its source.
Xiang's mother was terrified and wanted to call the nurse, but Xiang Wan stopped her.
She adjusted the syringe, and after a short while, the backflowing blood stopped.
"You silly child, this is an IV drip, how can you do it yourself? Doesn't it hurt?"
The elderly couple looked disapproving, but Xiang Wan smiled and shook her head. She had experienced much worse pain, so what was this little thing?
But Xiang's parents didn't see it that way. In their eyes, their daughter had been pampered and never allowed to get hurt. This hospitalization broke their hearts.
Xiang Wan remained silent. When she was with He Yang, she went from never cooking to being able to make a delicious meal. How many injuries did she suffer on her hands? She just didn't let her parents see it.
Thinking of this, Xiang Wan felt a little guilty.
All the hardships and exhaustion she endured were for unrelated people, and she even dragged her parents into her busy work. It was truly wrong of her.
Xiang Wan couldn't bear to let her parents eat the same light meals as her father, so while they were talking, she ordered another delicious takeout.
The two elders scolded her for wasting money, but Xiang Wan said, "We've already bought it, it's a real waste if you don't eat it."
Finally, the three of them enjoyed a pleasant lunch together. In the middle of the meal, a nurse came over and changed her medication.
Now that Xiang Wan has woken up, she no longer needs anyone to stay with her in bed. After much persuasion, she was persuaded to let her parents go home and rest, and that she would call them if anything came up.
Xiang Wan's parents couldn't persuade her otherwise, so they left, looking back every few steps, and promised to bring her dinner that evening, but Xiang Wan didn't allow it.
If you have money, you can have food delivered; why make the elderly couple go through the trouble of making another trip?
Besides, she still had things to sort out.
This ward is not a single room, but a double room, but there are no other patients coming in.
Xiang Wan thought for a moment and asked the nurse to change her to a VIP room.
Given her current physical condition, if she were a normal person, she would probably need to stay in the hospital for another ten days to half a month, as recovery would be too troublesome.
She needs to be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible, so she cannot be disturbed.
Xiang Wan learned the reason for the hospitalization: a car accident.
One week ago, she drove her own car from the game company one evening. Not long after, she received a message saying that there was something wrong with her beta test account and that she should go back and check it.
It was already 10 p.m. when she returned to the company, where she met several programmers and colleagues who had participated in the internal testing with her.
I turned on my dedicated computer, logged into my account, and did find a few issues, but nothing serious.
She quickly changed her login password, played in a new scene for a while, and when she logged off and returned, it was already late at night.
Her colleagues and the programmers had all left. She said goodbye to the security guard at the gate and drove off.
At an intersection, a white sedan sped towards her from the opposite direction and crashed into her. She couldn't dodge in time and was knocked off the median strip.
The incident even made the news at the time, and the driver was detained by the police.
But after so long, apart from her parents, no one from the company or the party responsible for the accident has come to visit her in the hospital.
The nurse said that her fees had been paid in full and were enough to cover her stay until she was discharged.
The ward fell silent as Xiang Wan stared blankly at her phone.
Three years have passed. So, what about him?
Was he awake at that time?
What exactly happened between her and him?
Xiang Wan swiped her finger over the familiar number and checked the call history. The last call was a year ago.
Looking at WeChat again, besides work-related matters, the most frequent messages were from her parents or colleagues. There wasn't even a single chat history with the person she knew best; she'd even blocked them.
Without the plot or the memories of the past three years, Xiang Wan simply decided to stop thinking about it. She was determined to get to the bottom of everything after she was discharged from the hospital.
With her eyes closed, Xiang Wan activated the Frostbite Technique, drawing upon her internal energy, and quickly entered a meditative state.
The next morning, Xiang's father and mother arrived.
After they drank some porridge, Xiang Wan told them to go home.
Not long after, the door to the ward was pushed open, and a young man wearing glasses and a suit walked in.
"Hello, are you Ms. Xiang Wan?"
Xiang Wan looked up and sized him up. He was about thirty years old, with a buzz cut, wearing rimless glasses, and his eyes were gleaming. His hands were folded in front of his chest, holding a briefcase in his hand.
The fact that you were able to find this place means you already know her identity.
"What do you want?" Xiang Wan leaned against the pillow, her expression indifferent.
The man blinked, pulled a business card from his pocket, and handed it to Xiang Wan. "I am Lu Fang, the lawyer representing Liuyun Games. This is my business card."
Xiang Wan didn't answer, glancing at the large, gold-embossed characters with a questioning look in her eyes.
Lu Fang wasn't embarrassed. He placed the business card on the bedside table and smiled. "Ms. Xiang, you may not know me, but what I'm about to say is the key point. Perhaps after hearing this, you'll change your mind and contact me."
