Chapter 732 The Altar (Thirty-Six)

Looking at the vast expanse of white clouds and mist, Yuehua's heart stirred, and a flash of joy quickly crossed her eyes.

She turned to look at the desolate Shuiyun Palace, her eyes flashing, "Ziyi, besides me, there will be no one else by your side!"

Bai Xuan was playing chess with Zi Yi, but he couldn't place the white piece in his hand. "How strange," he said, "I was distracted just now and forgot where to place this piece. This game doesn't count, let's start over."

He reached out to mess up the chessboard, but Zi Yi spread her five fingers and fixed all the pieces on the board. "You should go back."

Bai Xuan looked up, his white eyebrows twitching slightly. "You've won so many games against me, shouldn't you let me win one too?"

"If we keep going, the outcome will be the same, so why make ourselves miserable?"

Bai Xuan blushed, "I'm old, I can't compare to you young people."

"Looking old doesn't count."

Bai Xuan was quite surprised to hear this statement uttered with a blank expression. "Is this still the purple-robed immortal I know? Has he been possessed?"

With a frosty look in her eyes, she turned to look at the void. "Bai Xuan, we've long since lost the chance to grow old."

Bai Xuan pondered to himself, feeling that there was something more to Zi Yi's words, but he didn't say anything more, showing no intention of explaining. He was a little anxious, but he couldn't bring himself to ask for details, so he simply changed the subject and asked, "What kind of life-saving talisman did you give your disciple?"

The woman in purple did not answer, her brows furrowed.

Bai Xuan opened his eyes in surprise, "Could it be... that they didn't give us anything?"

"Life and death are determined by fate; you can't force it."

Standing outside the door, Yuehua, upon hearing these words, was completely relieved.

Originally, she was worried that Ziyi would treat his disciple differently, but now it seems that she was overthinking it.

Bai Xuan jumped up and shook his head, saying, "If I had known it would be like this, I would have preferred her to come with me. At least I would have treated her as my grand-disciple's wife, and I would never have let her go to such a dangerous place."

Are you questioning my competence as a mentor?

The woman in purple's voice turned cold. Bai Xuan blinked, as if he had sensed something, and smiled slightly. He raised his head and gestured towards the door, "How you act as a master is none of my business. However, that person treasures her disciple to an extreme degree."

Without turning around, the woman in purple sat upright and asked, "Do you have any specific information about the depths of the southern swamps or the eastern Crimson Flame Desert?"

Bai Xuan said solemnly, "We sent many disciples to investigate earlier, and they know no more information than you, Sui Xushan. What, have you discovered something?"

The man in purple lowered his eyes and said in a deep voice, "Not long ago, on the edge of the Crimson Flame Desert, a cultivator covered in pustules was discovered. I've heard of him before, but this time, it seems a little different."

The woman in purple paused, then continued, "Do you remember that valley? The Shadow Corpse Two-Faced Beast..."

“The appearance of the Spirit-Eating Insects, the growth of the Yin Corpse Two-Faced Beast right under our noses, the things you are suppressing here, the appearance of the Divine Ruins… if these are connected, it seems that it is not a coincidence.” Bai Xuan’s expression began to turn serious.

"And what happened near my Luoyan Peak!"

Yuehua pushed open the door and stepped inside.

The two glanced at her, and Bai Xuan automatically sat down to the side, leaving the seat opposite Zi Yi to her.

"Someone blew up that valley, but escaped right under my nose."

Yuehua spoke frankly, and Bai Xuan's lips twitched; he didn't know what to say.

When he asked before, Yuehua made all sorts of excuses. Now, Ziyi hasn't even asked, but she's already spoken up first. Is it really because she looks young that she has this kind of privilege?

"Your immortal power remains in the place that was blown up." Yuehua looked at Ziyi, her eyes flashing.

Zi Yi remained silent, but Bai Xuan couldn't hold back any longer. "Do you suspect Zi Yi? That can't be! Why would he go there for no reason?"

"Perhaps it's for someone else."

Having said all that, Bai Xuan suddenly felt he was being a bit superfluous.

Yuehua looked at Ziyi, and he looked back at her, constantly giving her meaningful glances.

The woman in purple ignored her, rose, and faced the vast emptiness outside the hall, "A storm is brewing..."

Rumble!

Thunder rumbled in the distance at just the right moment, as if confirming what Ziyi had said.

"It's raining in the south... no, it's raining in the east."

Bai Xuan counted on his fingers, stood up and stood next to Zi Yi, looking into the distance with him.

"The situation has changed drastically, like rain after a long drought. This is quite an anomaly, and I'm afraid the future will not be peaceful. I must go back now. Without an immortal to oversee things, those bastards will probably cause chaos."

Bai Xuan took his leave and disappeared into the hall.

Yuehua slowly rose and came to Ziyi's side, standing shoulder to shoulder with him. "No matter when or where, I will be there whenever you need me."

Ziyi didn't turn around. Yuehua sighed softly, reached out to touch his shoulder, but held back in the end. "Ziyi, I'm leaving."

The figure slowly disappeared until it was completely out of sight, and the woman in purple didn't even turn around to look at it again.

"The path to immortality is arduous, the path to divinity is elusive. In this vast world, what is there to seek? What is there to seek? What is the purpose of seeking?" The woman in purple murmured, her eyes seemingly filled with confusion, yet also reflecting the entire world. "Fearless, undaunted, heartless, selfless, without regard for the world; emotionless, without the Way, without thought, without attachment, without restraint. What am I? What am I for?"

The mountain winds swept through the barrier, raging across Tongtian Peak, swirling up fallen leaves and bringing with them a vast expanse of moisture.

Inside the Shuiyun Palace, the man in purple stood quietly before the palace gate like a sculpture, seemingly integrated with the world, or like a mast standing firm in the wind and rain, unmoved by the surrounding storms.

"If you have heaven and earth in your heart, then heaven and earth will naturally exist. If you have god in your heart, where is god?" The woman in purple's lips moved slightly, her eyes gradually clearing. "Legends may not be false, the world may not be entirely true. Where the heart leads, give it your all, even if it means being shattered to pieces. The road will eventually come to an end. And what lies at the end?"
