"Let me go, I want to eat it!"
The red ball twisted and turned in Xiang Wan's hand. As she ran, she punched it, yelling, "What are you eating? Aren't you afraid of getting diarrhea?!"
"If I miss this, I don't know when I'll ever grow up. Put me down now!"
The red ball twisted even more violently. Xiang Wan had no choice but to glance back out of the corner of her eye. The insects didn't seem to be chasing after them. The monster let out a deafening roar, and rubble kept rolling down the steep rock face.
Xiang Wan found a narrow corner, jumped up while holding the red ball, and peered through the gap to see what was behind her.
The monster's body was halfway out when it was surrounded by a dense swarm of insects.
The black insects relentlessly gnawed at the blood vessels from the bottom up, and as far as the eye could see, only red was visible, no black. The blood vessels on the giant cocoon, deprived of their blood supply, gradually faded and began to shrink.
The sticky membrane covering the monster hadn't completely faded, and a pungent odor permeated the entire canyon. Its exposed upper body was an inverted triangle, with lean, dark red muscles clinging tightly to its torso. Its head was oval-shaped; from behind, only the bald back of its skull, flashing with a blue light, was visible, with a sharp horn on each side spiraling upwards. Its three-sectioned arms were disproportionately long, easily half a meter long, and the blades on its five fingers, blackish-white in color and covered with countless barbs, were half a meter long.
Golden flying insects flapped their wings and hovered in mid-air, out of reach of the sharp blades, waiting for an opportunity to swoop down and tear at the monster's body.
The monster roared and waved its arms frantically, but it failed to hit any of the flying insects. Instead, it was bitten many times by the insects, and the blood that flowed out was greenish. When it fell onto the giant cocoon, it hissed and emitted white smoke.
"See that? The monster's blood has a corrosive effect; it even gnaws on its own cocoon. If you had gone over there, you wouldn't have been left with a trace." Xiang Wan watched the battle intently, while relentlessly dampening the red ball's enthusiasm. "Dare to provoke the bug, but don't have the guts to fight back. In the end, didn't you all end up on me? But tell me, who do you think will win, the bug or the monster?"
"It doesn't matter who wins or not! I'm so hungry, so hungry, so very hungry!"
It talks about hunger all the time; is it a foodie turned out to be?
“Let’s make a bet. If you win, you can eat whatever you want from now on, I won’t care.” After Xiang Wan finished speaking, she clearly felt the red ball’s body swell up like a balloon. She stroked it a few times and continued, “But if I win, you have to listen to me from now on, otherwise, I won’t take you out anymore and I’ll lock you in a dark room.”
Although he didn't understand what a "dark room" was, Red Ball knew what it was like to be locked up, so he immediately agreed: "You have to keep your word. If I win, you can't stop me from eating!"
Xiang Wan nodded, then looked at the monster again and noticed that its movements seemed to have become much larger, waving its hand and scattering many black insects.
"To be fair, you choose first." Xiang Wan smiled and placed the red ball into the gap.
Red Ball's short fur twitched, and it exclaimed excitedly, "I bet the monster will win!"
"Okay, then I'll bet..."
"No, no, I bet the bug will win."
Are you sure?
"How could we possibly lose to insects, which are numerous, have strong teeth, and can escape at crucial moments?"
"Not going to change it?"
"I'm not changing it!"
"Alright, let's wait and see."
Hongqiu, still childish, changed his mind at the last minute, which Xiangwan understood.
Half of the giant cocoon had been bitten through by insects, and black insects with bloodshot eyes had crawled inside and begun to gnaw at the monster's body.
The hissing sound of corrosion was incessant, and the crunching sound of chewing never stopped.
Many insects have already crawled up the giant cocoon along its blood vessels.
The monster was struggling to deal with the flying insects that attacked from time to time, as well as the black insects that kept climbing upwards. One or two insects fell into the giant cocoon and, risking being corroded, bit at the monster's waist.
"roar!"
The monster's rage surged, its body turned red, veins bulged, white smoke rose from its head, and a powerful aura shot straight into the sky.
"hold head high!"
The monster let out a monstrous roar, and a deafening sonic wave emanated from its mouth. The golden flying insects, caught off guard, were stunned and fell to the ground. The black insects clinging to the monster's waist were instantly pulverized, while those further away were blasted away and scattered across the rocky cliffs.
"How could this be? Why are the insects so weak? Something must have gone wrong. How could I, this beast, have made the wrong choice!"
The red ball was still grumbling when Xiang Wan picked it up and said quickly, "Hurry up and eat the golden flying insect; it should have an inner core."
Reminded by Xiang Wan, the red ball immediately perked up. Xiang Wan aimed intently and threw the red ball over.
After the monster finished its outburst, it looked somewhat listless, and its strength began to wane.
Xiang Wan stopped dodging, picked up a rock taller than a person with both hands, and hurled it at the monster.
She realized that the monster couldn't move, otherwise it wouldn't have lured her closer to it.
With so much blood, who knows how many evils this monster has committed? She must act on behalf of Heaven to bring about justice!
The red ball was thrown near the flying insect, and it darted around, biting off the insect's head in one gulp. Blood, foam, and brain matter splattered everywhere, making Xiang Wan want to vomit.
The red ball wasn't much better off; it kept spitting out food until its mouth was empty, then it picked up the remaining corpse and hid to the side.
The monster saw the red ball's movements and twisted its body desperately, trying to grab it. When it couldn't grab it, it slashed at its arm, attempting to use the blood from its wounds to corrode and stop the red ball's movement.
As dusk approached, the large rock came along, and with a flick of its wrist, the monster cleaved it in two.
