She wore a light red dress that swayed in the wind, with a string of pendants hanging from her waist. Her face was calm and refined, and her long black hair was tied back with a hairband, with the long ends swaying at her waist, making her look clean, neat, and sharp.
Looking again at the purple-robed immortal, he wore a plain-colored robe, and the mark on his forehead faintly shimmered. His handsome face was indifferent and dignified, giving people a sense that he could only be admired from afar and not profaned.
The two stood together, their expressions and demeanors similar, looking as if they had known each other for a long time.
As everyone sized up Xiang Wan, Xiang Wan was also sizing them up.
Most of them seemed to have similar cultivation levels to hers, and a few gave her a sense of unfathomable depth, but compared to the feeling she got from Zi Yi, they were still far inferior.
With her mind at ease, Xiang Wan cupped her hands and said in a respectful but not arrogant manner, "Xiang Wan greets everyone."
At this moment, her status was different from before. As a disciple of Immortal Venerable Sui Xushan, she held a transcendent position, but compared to those who guarded the mountain gate and were summoned by those in purple robes, she still needed to show some attitude, since she was the newcomer.
Those who had learned Xiang Wan's background all sighed in amazement. The Immortal Venerable, if he didn't act, he wouldn't act at all; but when he did, he brought back a prodigy. If this was the Immortal Venerable's standard for choosing disciples, then there was probably no one else in the world besides this woman.
The group sighed in dismay, yet also faced a dilemma. The Immortal Venerable's disciple was different from them, the mountain lords and lake lords. Calling her "Junior Sister" seemed presumptuous, while addressing her by her given name would be disrespectful to the Immortal Venerable. What should they do?
Seeing their expressions, Xiang Wan continued, "I'm not very good at those formalities, just call me Xiang Wan. I'm fortunate to have been valued by my master, and I hope you will all take good care of me in the future."
Everyone glanced at the man in purple, and seeing that he did not object, they quickly returned the greeting, saying, "We wouldn't dare. We are all disciples of Sui Xushan, and it is only right that we look after each other."
Xiang Wan stood silently to the side. Zi Yi glanced at her and spoke, "Disperse. From this day forward, Sui Xu Mountain will be closed. All disciples are not allowed to go out and must focus on cultivation until the Divine Relic Ruins open."
Xiang Wan and the others responded in unison, "Yes!"
Even after returning to Shuiyun Palace, Xiang Wan still felt somewhat surreal.
The side hall in purple was given to Xiang Wan for living and cultivation, while he returned to the main hall.
The little cloud dream beast had cleaned its body, but the fur on its body still hadn't grown back.
"Master, will we be living here from now on?"
Xiang Wan nodded and looked around. Aside from the decorations on the walls and the prayer cushions on the floor, the place could be described as sparsely furnished. She couldn't understand how a Celestial Venerable could be so frugal!
But after strolling around the main hall and returning, she realized that it wasn't that he was stingy, but that he had put all the good things in his own residence, and there was nothing else in other places.
Who would have thought that Ziyi was such a person! Did those mountain lords and lake lords know about this?
After settling into the side hall, Xiang Wan behaved herself for a while, diligently practicing the Cleansing Spell along with other miscellaneous spells, and also gained a general understanding of this world.
This is a place where all beings are truly equal.
That's right, anything that can move and has life, except for humans, can cultivate!
Of course, if you can't cultivate, then you can only rely on luck to survive.
However, most cultivators possess a compassionate heart. They understand the principle of draining the pond to catch all the fish, and in order to ensure the survival of their clan, they will send people to protect their own kind, and incidentally select suitable cultivators from among them to become disciples.
Disciples don't necessarily have to be from the same clan; those from other clans are also welcome, but not many.
For disciples who are not of the same clan, the tests to gain recognition are much more difficult than those for ordinary disciples.
This explains why Xiang Wan was directly introduced into the Eternal Realm upon entering Sui Xu Mountain. Even if this person is an immortal, it is no exception.
But Xiang Wan always felt that Zi Yi's actions were not just a test.
This world possesses spiritual energy, and anyone who can draw this energy into their body can embark on the path of cultivation. From the initial Qi Condensation stage, to Foundation Establishment, then to Golden Core, Shattering the Core to Infant, Mahayana, Immortal Transformation, and finally Godhood.
Each stage has a different level. For example, one needs to reach the tenth level of the Qi Condensation stage to enter the Foundation Establishment stage. The transition from Foundation Establishment to Golden Core stage requires going through three stages: upper, middle, and lower. The transition from Golden Core to Nascent Soul stage requires three to four stages: early, middle, and late stages, culminating in the Great Perfection of the Golden Core stage. Some people, upon reaching the later stages, can directly shatter their core and form a Nascent Soul; this is all related to their daily cultivation and accumulation of experience.
The transition from the Nascent Soul stage to the Mahayana stage is another hurdle, requiring a massive accumulation of spiritual energy and a corresponding state of mind. The time required is uncertain and depends on fate. The transition from the Mahayana stage to the Immortal Transformation stage is the metamorphosis of a mortal crossing the threshold of life and death to become an immortal. Cultivators shed their mortal bodies, absorb the essence of heaven and earth, and forge an immortal body that is neither born nor dies.
Theoretically speaking, immortals have an infinite lifespan, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The jade slip didn't explicitly state this incident, but Xiang Wan vaguely sensed that it was likely related to the battles outside. For example, the giant-eyed monster in the forbidden area possessed death energy powerful enough to cause even immortals to perish.
Finally, there is godhood, the legendary realm, which is only mentioned in a single sentence in the jade slip. After all, no one has ever seen a real god; they have only heard of the miraculous ruins left behind when the gods departed from this world.
"In other words, there are no gods in this world!" Xiang Wan looked up, her eyes shining. "The legends of gods and the ruins of miracles are traces of where gods once existed. Is it possible that after becoming a god, one cannot remain in this world? Or is it that gods are outside this world, but for some reason, they cannot return for the time being?"
The more she thought about it, the more solidified an idea became in her mind, and she couldn't shake it off.
