Chapter 94 Outwitting the Fake Siblings (Part 3)

Holy crap! What kind of world is this? Such unbelievable things exist here. Xiang Wan is resistant to all of this. She's a person living in the modern world—no, now she should be called a soul from the modern world—how can she accept such a brutal world? It's making her whole body go numb!

What's even more unacceptable is that she entered the body on the original owner's wedding night with Shi Liefeng. Could there be anything worse? Having transmigrated to two worlds on their wedding day, she couldn't help but question the system's twisted sense of humor.

"Xiao Qi, explain!"

"Hehe, isn't this for your own good?"

"Bullshit! My life could be in danger at any moment, okay? If you don't want me to die halfway through, you'd better explain to me what this world is all about."

"Isn't this just what you see?" Xiaoqi replied weakly.

"So, I have to repeat the original owner's fate and be imprisoned by this fake brother and sister until I become food for their so-called master?"

"Don't be so pessimistic, honey. Let me put it this way: the original owner was able to survive to the end, she must have had some kind of advantage. Otherwise, why would those brother and sister never touch her?"

"Really?" Xiang Wan was skeptical. Recalling the original owner's memories, she really didn't find that the brother and sister had done anything to her. At most, they had made a few sarcastic remarks and then locked her up.

"Then how can I avenge the original owner of this body?"

"Oh my, if this system knew how to solve this, why would I need to contact you?"

Xiang Wan wasn't buying it. If someone could take her through time, they must know what to do.

"Besides not being discovered and not having a physical body, I don't know what else you don't know."

"Ahem, such a compliment from you makes this system feel so good, hehehe!"

"So, tell me everything you know, or else..."

"Or what?"

"Believe me or not, I'll never speak to you again for the rest of my life?"

"Oh? You've gotten a cow? This system really doesn't believe it."

"Fine, from now on, I won't talk to you anymore, hmph!"

Xiang Wan kept her word, ignoring the system's clamor and provocations in her mind, staring at the bed curtains and clearing her mind.

She didn't know what else existed in this world besides what she had seen. But based on her experience reading novels in modern times, she knew there must be many other unbelievable things and powerful figures in this world besides what the original owner had witnessed. She had come with a system to seek revenge and didn't want to attract the attention of any strange individuals, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable. The best course of action was to repel the system and prevent it from causing trouble. Xiang Wan never believed that having an omnipotent system would make her invincible. She only believed that everything has its counter, and if there were people like Shi Liefeng and Shi Yuanyuan, there must be a way to restrain them. What she needed to do now was to find a way to deal with them without attracting their attention.

Shi Liefeng entered the room reeking of alcohol, and Xiang Wan immediately covered her head with a veil and sat down on the edge of the bed.

The candlelight flickered in the room. Looking out through the veil, she could see a tall, blurry figure slowly walking towards her, a pair of black boots stopping less than a foot away in a V-shape.

"Please lift the veil, son-in-law."

A middle-aged woman's voice came from the side. Xiang Wan looked closely and realized that the matchmaker had also come in at some point. Xiang Wan's attention was entirely on Shi Liefeng, and she didn't even hear the matchmaker's footsteps.

Shi Liefeng picked up the scale rod, paused for a moment, and then slowly lifted Xiang Wan's veil.

In the flickering candlelight, Xiang Wan saw Shi Liefeng before her, dressed in a bright red groom's attire. His black hair was tied up on top of his head, held together by a white jade hairpin, with a red ribbon cascading down to his chest. His face was sharply defined, as if sculpted by a chisel, with delicate eyebrows, thin lips, a straight nose, and sharp pupils. If one did not look closely, one might not notice the faint blue tinge around the outer edge of his black eyes.

Judging from Shi Liefeng's appearance alone, one has to admit he's good-looking. No wonder the original owner was moved by Shi Yuanyuan after only meeting him once; he is indeed very attractive to young girls.

Xiang Wan stared intently at Shi Liefeng, then suddenly smiled, revealing her beautiful red lips, small face, bright eyes, and gleaming teeth. Although she couldn't see her own makeup, she noticed that Shi Liefeng's breath hitched, and his gaze deepened.

The matchmaker offered her congratulations repeatedly and brought over two cups of nuptial wine on a tray. Shi Liefeng picked up one cup, and the other was presented to Xiang Wan.

In the small glass, the clear liquid was slightly yellowish. According to the original owner's memories, although Shi Yuanyuan was not present, she and Shi Liefeng were a couple, and she would certainly not want Shi Liefeng to go far away with her. The wine in this glass should not be just wine, but must contain something else, such as—a sleeping potion.

In the original owner's memory, Shi Liefeng only made an excuse to sleep in the study, but the original owner slept so soundly on their wedding night. Was there anything wrong with that?

Should I drink it or not? If I fall asleep again like the original owner, I won't be able to cope if something happens again.

"Miss, the groom is still waiting," the matchmaker urged from the side.

Xiang Wan glanced at the person; their face was serene, yet their tone and expression suggested they were on Shi Liefeng's side. Could they be one of Shi Liefeng's accomplices?

“Matchmaker, you know I never drink.” Xiang Wan’s voice was as melodious and captivating as a nightingale’s song, so enchanting that even she herself was drawn to it, let alone Shi Liefeng.

"My lady, this is nuptial wine, we can't refuse it." Shi Liefeng's eyes were burning with desire. Xiang Wan blushed, lowered her head, and twisted her handkerchief, feeling extremely shy.

"Miss, look how impatient the young master is! Drink up! Drink this cup of wine, and may you be reunited forever!"

Xiang Wan picked up her wine glass, smiled at Shi Liefeng, crossed her arms with him, and put the wine in her mouth.

"Cough, cough!"

While pretending to cough, Xiang Wan covered her mouth with a handkerchief, spat the wine onto the handkerchief, and then hid the handkerchief in her sleeve.

"My wife can't hold her liquor, so you may leave now."

Shi Liefeng chased the matchmaker out and pulled Xiang Wan to sit on the edge of the bed. As she left, the matchmaker gave him a very strange look, as if... something bad was about to happen.

"My wife..."

"Liefeng, just call me by my name. It's a bit embarrassing to call me 'wife' all the time."

Xiang Wan's words sounded like a mix of reproach and coquetry. An ordinary person would have been given goosebumps long ago, but Shi Liefeng seemed to fall for her act after he paused. His smile widened and his voice softened, which gave Xiang Wan goosebumps.

"Alright, I'll listen to my wife... I'll listen to Wan'er."
